I used to have that same exact machine!! We built a fieldstone wall and had it so loaded down with rocks I had to put both my kids and wife on the front rack so I could steer lol! It was a go anywhere do anything Big Boss! I miss it and have thought about getting another. Great video!
Well it's been 40 years but finally I have an explanation to a problem I had. I had the same problem with a plate and needle on an XS750. I saw the hole so I thought the needle went through it but as you've shown the plate sits on top to hold the needle down. Bike ran like crap unless the throttle was wide open. One shop spent 3 hours trying to diagnose it but another fixed it in an hour. You're a legend!!!
For the style of battery you hate, use a small piece of fuel line or a doubled over piece of cable tie under the lead insert. Makes bolting leads on much easier and the inserts stay in place.
I was a Polaris dealer in Arkansas and if you were looking for fast you got the wrong modle. This was built as a farm work vehicle and geared low Meant to be a powerful crawler. Dandahermit.
I’m pretty sure they make a spider web bungee cord top to put on that dump bed so things don’t bounce around and possibly hit u especially if a medium size stone bounces out!
The Polaris Big Boss 6x6 are brilliant machines. In the UK I have a year 2000 - 500cc petrol and an older 400cc Diesel - D-Bat ex British military. The Diesel has a 12v car battery in it so never any problem starting it and its air cooled. Both used for all the jobs you can think of on our small holding. The 500cc petrol is mega quick so you have to be super careful not to let your kids loose on it. Over the years I have purchased all the agri tools you might need to work off the two machines. My friends thought I was nuts when I first got the 500cc. Only saw it as a toy. They don't think that way now and like you, mine were non-runners when I bought them super cheap. Both were easy fixes.
Those are great engines, something to look out for is the 2 stroke oil feed line from the front reservoir is pretty easy to snag and tear off when going thru brush, double check the way it is routed. Great video!
Really cool machine! I remember the Magnum and Sportsman 6x6 that came later, but never realized they has a 2 stroke version too. It's a shame the ATV market in general has shrunk so much compared to what it used to be. Everything is the side by sides now, which are kinda neat too but cost as much as a small pickup used to.
Definitely a great machine to have and looks like your absolutely 💯 going get your money's worth out of it just putting that big boss to work on the land!! Another successful and great purchase and like always I still really enjoy your content. Still shocks me at times the knowledge you have fixing things like the needle in carburetor where the plate was installed wrong, little details like that are the things most of us DIY ppl don't even notice so greatly appreciate all the content you've shared over the years simply due to learning more and more and obviously because I love seeing these kinda machines be brought back to life again so thank you much my man!!👊
Thank you for your kinds words! That means so much to me! I am so glad that you enjoy the videos! I appreciate you watching and commenting! It truly means a lot!
This channel has given me the confidence to take on a project bike. I think I could do a top end on a small Honda motor for sure now partly because I’ve had a few of them I guess and I know they’re pretty simple
It's not a quad, it's a 6x6 & the Executioner's ride very rough and not practical, a buddy bought some and promptly sold them .... maybe Kenda Bear Claw 🐻
When we were kids on a farm my dad alway said “let’s go see a rock band at the farm”!! Once we got to the hey field with our big red Honda 3-wheelers we would fill up the rear rack and the front rack had a width 18x18lenth 18”tall wooden box . The once we set the rocks on the rear rack usually rolled off but we were young and liked riding so we kept reloading the ones that rolled off!! Haha
I have a 6x6 Ranger this thing I over load it and pull all kinds of stuff with it and plow and it keeps going strong.I finaly made it an electric dump bed with a winch mounted on the roll cage.
i had the two stroke model with 4 wheels , i solved the hard shifting problem by merely adding a quart of DURALUBE to the transmission , smooth shifting after that
Great video, as always a learning moment. Vinny would say "Looks rough rough." As you cruised the field picking up rocks, reminded of fieldstone foundations in old farmhouses. IMHO someone needs to get a Japanese mini-truck
Those big boss's or sxs with no doors work better for picking rock IMHO because you aren't constantly opening and closing a door to pick the rock. Same goes for fixing fence where you are always getting out to pound a staple, putting a clip on a steel post, or tightening a wire. Japanese mini truck would be cool for a video though.
@Palco Land & Cattle You can't sit side by side on an ATV because it's not a side by side, it's an ATV. Plus, it can get old swinging a leg over an ATV over & over , (SXS doors are removable) peace out ..
Never knew these existed until a few weeks back when I came across a different your video on it. I see they are still being made as well. I was wondering if the front can be separated from the rear bed and wheels?
I had one of these but mine was a 425 version and I took off bed and made a small boom on back with a 2500 lb. winch that thing pulled a cedar log on level that was 18 inches in diameter and 3 eight foot long cedar logs . That thing worked perfect for that until a stick through the radiator stopped that ride after that got a small 1500D yanmar tractor.
Pretty tough little machine 💪! Didn't really take much to get it going. When are you going to repair and move the hovercraft? Kinda like to see another video of it in action. Thanks again for your time today and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
That thing is nice! I'd love to have one like it. I don't think I've ever seen one. I would clean the bed really good and spray it with some Rhino bed liner. Super awesome find!
Nice job ! Good time of the year to work outside on landscaping, better than doing it in the 90o summer days ugh That machine will be good for ice fishing trips too ✌
Exactly! It is the perfect temperature for getting some yard work and landscaping done before the brutal heat comes! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
I'm old enough to remember when these first came out. My work buddy I discovered about 5 years ago at his house warming party had one in pieces and I tried all night even after he got drunk by the fire in the backyard to sell it to me and he wouldn't. Lol...btw that's a KILLER deal!!!
Man great info! I'm sold. I own a John Deere 5 wheeler it's payload is higher but it's not an off road vehicle. My top speed is around 20mph with the gov. On. Keep up the good work!
I know I have my second one . Front axle does all the work in p.owing because the back one don't ha e enough weight I without 6 wheel you could not climb a hill or push snow with 5 inches of snow on it . . Like driving a dually truck on snow
I know they’re supposed to be counterbalance oil to change the liquid cooled 350 engines. I would like to see how to do that if you would make a video on it.
Thing's a damn beast! I love watching you fix engines. There ain't an engine you can't fix as long as you can get the parts. Just ask Jay Leno if you can borrow is 3d printer that he uses to print old parts no longer availibe on the market.
I like your idea of putting those rocks to good use. I collected rocks about the same size as yours and came across one that I could barely pick up. I couldn't lift it high enough to put in the bed of my F350. It had to be over 200 pounds because I can lift and press a little over 200 pounds in reps of 11. The rock was off white with a little yellow. It was rounded and smooth as if it had spent time in a river. I went back with a friend to help and it had been removed by someone else. I really want to know what it was made of, but I probably will never find out for sure. Made a large bbq out of the rocks I did collect. It sits where anyone who rides off-road can use.
Only tow snowmobiles by one ski or you strip the steering spindles ! Pulling both makes the skis want to go into each other and puts lots of stress on steering parts
That's actually pretty darn sweet to be able to grab perfect rocks to landscape your yard with AND get those nasty buggers off the farm so they don't ruin the machinery! Win Win! Kind of like a 6x6 for 1750!!!
I was hoping you would look at the drive train. I am assuming it is just an additional sprocket running a second chain to the rear wheels and that the rear four are always engaged in 4x6 mode?
Thank you for watching! I own the land, and use it mostly for my videos and to be outside. Some farming is also done on it by a farmer who rents a parcel from me certain months of the year.
Now that is perfect for the plow and whatever else you wanted to use it for.
Definitely! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
I had a 650 cc and ran paddle tires on the rear for snow. They lasted 6 years on a 140 acre mountain trail up to the deer feeder fields.
I just saw one of those for sale on marketplace in Wisconsin for $600. It was sold fast!
I used to have that same exact machine!!
We built a fieldstone wall and had it so loaded down with rocks I had to put both my kids and wife on the front rack so I could steer lol! It was a go anywhere do anything Big Boss! I miss it and have thought about getting another. Great video!

I know that everyone needs a dump truck some times in their life .Cool toy
Definitely! Thank you for watching!
Vinny is going to be a Champion! Goooood lookin’ Pup.
Vinnie is a good buddy and assistant!
Your passion for the work and excitement makes your channel good. Keep making videos !!
Agreed
Thank you for your kind words! That means so much to me! I am glad that you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching and commenting!

Torch tip cleaner tool works excellent for cleaning jets. Torch tip cleaner rods
Those are great engines, something to look out for is the 2 stroke oil feed line from the front reservoir is pretty easy to snag and tear off when going thru brush, double check the way it is routed. Great video!
Just a heads up Make sure you check your counter balancer oil in the lower front of the engine 💯👍
Really cool machine! I remember the Magnum and Sportsman 6x6 that came later, but never realized they has a 2 stroke version too. fix the boat
Not quite sure if you've looked but harbor freight has those electric pumps for doing siphoning
So.eone tried to flush it clean and forgot about it. Good catch.
That thing is a beast! It puts me in mind of the old John Deere Gator.
Not even close
Definitely!
Dude, you’ve become my favourite channel. Keep up the great content!! 🤘🤘
This channel has given me the confidence to take on a project bike. I think I could do a top end on a small Honda motor for sure now partly because I’ve had a few of them I guess and I know they’re pretty simple
Thank you so much! That is an honor! I appreciate you watching and commenting! It means a lot to me!
Love the quad, I'd prob put some meater tires on tho like Kenda executioners, more grip n bite, n more traction in mud
It's not a quad, it's a 6x6 & the Executioner's ride very rough and not practical, a buddy bought some and promptly sold them .... maybe Kenda Bear Claw 🐻
Thank you for watching!
They made tracks for them because they don't go well in deep snow. A Buddy of mine used tracks in the winter
Beast of a machine 4 sure
Definitely!
It's starting to look like a big kid's Toyz R Us at your place. What fun!
Haha that is true! Thank you for watching!
I like how you bring everything back to life
When we were kids on a farm my dad alway said “let’s go see a rock band at the farm”!! Brilliant machine 😎 I’d be wanting to know how all that fuel was in transmission? 👊❤️🇬🇧
I'm wondering if the vent tube wasn't mixed up with the carb overflow line. I think I saw 2 lines there.
Likely he was trying to clean out sludge in the case, and forgot to drain it
I have a 6x6 Ranger this thing I over load it and pull all kinds of stuff with it and plow and it keeps going strong.I finaly made it an electric dump bed with a winch mounted on the roll cage.

you and vinnie are the best duo, i love this channel
Thank you! Vinnie is a good buddy!
Like a tractor for bored dads…build a camper in the back…ice fishing comes to mind…
You should try and Cover anything left outside. The weather beats on them bad! Even a tarp is better than nothing.
One of those would be awesome for a small scale logging operation.
It sucks that you won't be building a track anytime soon, but I would lease the land too, easy money. Thank you for another great video.
That will be a handy gadget out on you property.
Definitely! Thank you for watching!
6x6 might make a good Vinny hauler!
Haha definitely! Thank you for watching!
never thought I would see a 2 stroke 6x6 quad! interesting to see a 2stroke engine in a workhorse
They even made them with an air cooled 250 2 stroke.
That 6 x 6 is paying off already. You found gold with that 10 mm
You have 2- stroke motor that doesn't connect to the gearcase oil. So if gas was in the oil, it was put there or you have case leak.
Now that's the new plow rig!! Get it done!! Brother!!
Great video, as always a learning moment. Vinny would say "Looks rough rough." As you cruised the field picking up rocks, reminded of fieldstone foundations in old farmhouses.
IMHO someone needs to get a Japanese mini-truck

@Palco Land & Cattle You can't sit side by side on an ATV because it's not a side by side, it's an ATV. Plus, it can get old swinging a leg over an ATV over & over , (SXS doors are removable) peace out ..
Thank you for watching! I am glad that you enjoyed the video! Haha Vinnie definitely would have some thoughts on the machine!
I’m liking that for all kinds of thing. Wonder how that grass mower will work on the back of it.
That thing is definitely quite a farm truck Lovett six-by-six got to have one
Definitely! Thank you for watching!

Nice to have the dump bed and all that traction but it should be a 4 stroke.
Pretty tough little machine 💪! Didn't really take much to get it going. When are you going to repair and move the hovercraft? Kinda like to see another video of it in action. Thanks again for your time today and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
I can't find the correct starter for it. Once I find a starter for it I can get it up and running again.
That thing is nice! I'd love to have one like it. I don't think I've ever seen one. I would clean the bed really good and spray it with some Rhino bed liner. Super awesome find!
Linex is way better
Thank you! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
Wow two-stroke holy cow
Did they plug the carb drain tube into the trans vent line? Would be the only way I can see Gass getting in there
Good call 📞
Could you imagine putting a set of snow tracks on the front😮😊
Nice job ! Good time of the year to work outside on landscaping, better than doing it in the 90o summer days ugh
That machine will be good for ice fishing trips too ✌
Exactly! It is the perfect temperature for getting some yard work and landscaping done before the brutal heat comes! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
No doubt
It looks like the air filter is missing the snorkel that goes on top of it and runs up towards the gas tank
Thank you for the suggestion! I appreciate it!
A new t-shirt that says "Vinny Approved" with a quad on the back.
Haha that is a great idea!
I am always amazed on what you can fix, are you teaching your brother to fix stuff i hope.
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
cool find man i just finished rebuilding my mint 93 350L runs like a champ
Thanks man! That is awesome!
That is sweet!!!! I have never seen one before. Definitely hang on to it.
Thank you for watching!
I'm old enough to remember when these first came out. My work buddy I discovered about 5 years ago at his house warming party had one in pieces and I tried all night even after he got drunk by the fire in the backyard to sell it to me and he wouldn't. Lol...btw that's a KILLER deal!!!
Haha that is a great story! It is definitely a beast of a machine! I appreciate you watching!
Bought my 96 Big Boss 400 in 1998, use it for hunting and checking game cameras. The old girl is as tough as nails.
Those old polaris are great I just bought a 1995 350 trail boss they cheap old bike that are fun
Man great info! I'm sold. I own a John Deere 5 wheeler it's payload is higher but it's not an off road vehicle. My top speed is around 20mph with the gov. On. Keep up the good work!
I saw one of these on my local marketplace for like $3k. Looks like a good rig for a snow plow.
Easy to spin back axles in the snow, not enough rear weight.
@@ronaldbertin9455 it’s 6x6
I know I have my second one . Front axle does all the work in p.owing because the back one don't ha e enough weight I without 6 wheel you could not climb a hill or push snow with 5 inches of snow on it . . Like driving a dually truck on snow
Call Vinny can go for a ride … throw an old blanket or a pad for him, the dog bed in the back
That would be great!
I have a 95 sportsman..these things run forever!
Thad be a great machine to pick rocks up in the spring time
Nice machine. Glad it was an easy fix
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
Cool machine. Polaris's definitely need lots of maintenance but hey ya got ya self a good work horse for that land.
Definitely! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
I know they’re supposed to be counterbalance oil to change the liquid cooled 350 engines. I would like to see how to do that if you would make a video on it.

I was looking for that 10mm wrench.
Hey Joe I think the little plate on the carb slide is upside down the tab goes down and locks into the slide so it can't rotate great vids
Put a 400 sport cylinder and head on it. Re jet the carb and delete the oil injection. It will make allot more power.
Nice find! She's a beauty! Looks to be in nice shape. Diggin your channel man, keep up the great videos and awesome buys!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and commenting! I am glad that you enjoyed the video!
I have a hard time believing he lost money on that. Probably inflated the numbers a bunch. Cool machine. Thanks for sharing
That's actually pretty darn sweet to be able to grab perfect rocks to landscape your yard with AND get those nasty buggers off the farm so they don't ruin the machinery! Win Win! Kind of like a 6x6 for 1750!!!

Nice machine and great repair job! I think Vinny wants a ride in the back
Thank you for watching! I will have to take him for a ride!
BigBoss says; I ain't no way payin' that kinda money for decorative rock.
Nice machine my man!! She’s definitely a keeper!!! A little TLC and she’s mint!!!
I agree! Minty!
Nice tool to have in the garage ✌️
You would of never gotten that on the old trailer.
Great vehicle.👍
That is true! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
Great find, think those can be $15k new. Keep up the good work
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching!
That's a great machine!
I agree! Thank you for watching!
That carb is filthy as usual
You should be able to get the tracks for the rear wheels. I have one that had over the wheels tracks
I hate those dang square nuts to!
Great video, this quad would be a good candidate on how to teach us to restore faded plastics ..
Quad means 4 tires, this is a 6x6
Thank you for watching and commenting! I appreciate it!
Great video as always
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
Looks like the carb overflo is hooked to vent on transfer case?
Happy Easter from new Zealand great videos thanks
Happy Easter! Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
Good little boy helping you
Vinnie is a great buddy!
Awesome 👍👍 It's like a giant red mouse. You should call it the Mouse.
Nice finding and nice repair. Hey, what's up with the land? Who owns it and what do you do with it? Thank you.
Thank you for watching! I own the land, and use it mostly for my videos and to be outside. Some farming is also done on it by a farmer who rents a parcel from me certain months of the year.
Another nice job Bud!
Brilliant machine joe defo a keeper mate do just about anything with that 👍👌🔧🔧🔧
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
