Lyrics:
What you want, baby, I got it
What you need, you know I got it?
All I'm askin' is for a little respect when you come home
(Just a little bit) Hey baby
(Just a little bit) when you get home
(Just a little bit) mister
(Just a little bit)
I ain't gonna do you wrong while you're gone
Ain't gonna do you wrong 'cause I don't wanna
All I'm askin' is for a little respect when you come home
(Just a little bit) Baby
(Just a little bit) When you get home
(Just a little bit) Yeah
(Just a little bit)
I'm about to give you all of my money
And all I'm askin' in return, honey
Is to give me my propers when you get home
(Just a, just a, just a, just a) Yeah, baby
(Just a, just a, just a, just a) When you get home
(Just a little bit) Yeah
(Just a little bit)
Ooh, your kisses, sweeter than honey
And guess what? So is my money
All I want you to do for me, is give it to me when you get home
(Ree, ree, ree ,ree) Yeah baby
(Ree, ree, ree ,ree) Whip it to me
(Respect, just a little bit) When you get home, now
(Just a little bit)
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, take care of TCB, oh
(Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
A little respect
(sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
Show, yeah
(Just a little bit) A little respect
(Just a little bit) I get tired
(Just a little bit) Keep on tryin'
(Just a little bit) You're runnin' out of fools
(Just a little bit) And I ain't lyin'
(Just a little bit)
(Ree, ree, ree ,ree, ree, ree, ree, ree) Respect when you come home
(Ree, ree, ree) Or you might walk in
And find that I'm gone…
(Just a little bit) I gotta have
(Just a little bit) A little respect
(Just a little bit)

An icon of 20th and 21st century music, the voice of the civil rights movement, and the undisputed Queen of Soul-there is only one Aretha Franklin. In her incredible six-decade career, Aretha evolved from teenage gospel star to reigning pop and R&B diva, recording classics like “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Chain Of Fools”, “Think” (lyrics by Aretha Franklin), definitive versions of the songs “Respect” and “I Say a Little Prayer”, and global hits like “Freeway Of Love,” “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)”, and “A Rose Is Still A Rose.”
Altogether, 112 of her singles reached the charts, with 20 No. 1 R&B singles, the most ever by a female artist. She won 18 Grammy Awards (including the first eight trophies for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance) and, out of recognition for her for indelible contribution to American music and culture, received both the Presidential Medal Of Freedom and a Pulitzer Prize.
Her voice could cut through solid rock. It’s incredible.
Yup. Nobody gets near her and I don't think ever will. Can't understand why everybody holds a woman I aint gonna mention up as high as they do. Obviously no taste. The attitude Aretha had, the softness, the tone, just the f#%$*£g voice!
legend has it that her voice is more unforgiving than diamond
@@jmarsh5485b😅
Just a friendly reminder that this was recorded before multi track and before digital.
You are hearing one single take, one performance by one spectacular vocalist, and her fantastic ensemble.
Wow one take
She's the Greatest
She's a legend ❤
Not true. Multi-track recording has been a thing since the 1950s. Atlantic Studios, where this was recorded, had an 8-track machine when this was recorded. But you're otherwise correct, a perfect flawless performance by Aretha!
Thanks!
Can't believe she's gone. She was like a mother and Queen of Soul. RIP Legend (1942-2018). She could have been 79 today.
we will always miss her
She is not gone: she is still there!
I cant believe it 😢❤️
Yeah and that's still kinda young.
@@uncleken7955 In what world is that young
her song is now the number 1 song on rolling stone top 500 greatest songs of all time.
and so it should be
@@AdamSandaver it's not my #1, but a great song regardless.
@@jamesvancam nobody cares if its your personal number one. But it won the vote by the music industry, i'd say they carry more weight than you when it comes to musical opinions...
@@AdamSandaver did I say anyone cares? I just gave my subjective opinion. Now stfu, I gave the song praise and props yet u disregard. Btw, Rollin Stone's sucks, have you seen their top 100 guitarist? Embarrassing like you.
@@jamesvancam the only fool embarrassing themselves here is you ....keep it up..
RIP Aretha F 🙏, the best female voice.
Aretha and Whitney Houston only ever proper angel voices in the music industry
The Queen of Soul!
Aretha’s songs will never get boring.
Aretha like so many grand to the music preachers of past to history birthed and a soul to their story telling from. They are the Real and we all should be so grateful. Amen!
I know so true
Dude she didnt write this it's a cover
Very talented blues singer
@@jordanmoore5206 Your point? She added the "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" part in it, and also her incredible voice.
Elvis covered Hound Dog from Big Mama Thornton, but none of you have a problem with that don't ya.
Aretha Franklin one of the greatest Gospel and secular singer's of all time.
I hope she knows how much she moved this world with her voice! Was and always will be one of the biggest vocal inspirations ever. You shake them heaven clouds with your angel voice Aretha!
Umm hmm
OOH SHE KNEW
She has such a powerful voice, and will continue to make smiles forever.
90s metal guy here. #RESPECT. Passion knows no boundaries of time, space, genre, color RIP Aretha!!
Amen, brother, amen!
can you tell me what genre this song is pls ?
@@sorina5639 R&B/Soul
Good music has no limitations and can be found in any genre. I love metal and hard rock too but people like her or a john lennon, andrea bocelli are true masters of their music genre.
Now that's a great voice, a truly great singer. It gets to be "humiliating" to want to compare any singer from those freshman shows, which are still out there.
That powerful voice belts out like a trumpet from heaven it goes right through you and Tears start to fall and your heart starts to droop
Her voice gives you goosebumps,,,,so good
She is so good at singing and so smart
@@Angel-tu5bl yes sir
@Paul Adkins
You respected her and thus shall receive respect in return.
Thank you, Paul.
Before you run you mouth about how great Beyonce is ARETHA WAS IS AND FOREVER WILL BE THAT WOMAN!!!!!
Blew my mind back then, still does! A giant in mah soul ......
This song will never go out of fashion.
How often does a someone create such a far-reaching song? This song is golden 💛
This is a great successful song. My teacher used to put this on all the time so we can be respectful and we were and I really love this song. Thank you Aretha Franklin
Love you so much😊❤❤❤❤
Don't know what happened to my comment but The Great Otis Redding wrote and sang the song first. He gave it to Aretha and she practically made it an anthem for Women.. It went through the roof! They were friends. In his documentary before he died, he was standing outside his house. He said, Areatha bought me all of these cars😂😂😂. Because he wrote the song 😂😂😂. And Forever be paid for it 😂❤His Legacy. And of course he wrote " Sitting on the dock of the bay". Many other relevant songs afterwards ❤
Lady Aretha deserves all our respect
Aretha has such a beautiful voice that change the world through the civil rights movement in the 60s and 70s and it was the soundtrack of my family life so we love you and miss you miss queen of soul rip aretha
A big, big tune and a true all time classic. Vocal perfection and soul delivered by the Queen of Soul, the late, great Aretha Franklin. A true, soul standard, in fact Respect is simply the No.1 vocal standard. This classic will never, ever, ever get old. Like a fine wine, it gets better with age.
I think this is a song the highest number of people have listened to. Find me someone who is a stranger to Respect by Aretha Franklin. It is a deservedly classic.
The Queen!! This song will always put you in a good mood even if you are sad or angry!!
EVERYBODY did an amazing job on this song, the background singers, the band, the studio engineer and of course Mrs. Franklin!
I agree!
CLASSIC SONG FROM THE GREAT ARETHA FRANKLIN!!!!
Just came from the black history museum and this was playing now it’s stuck in my head !
Eternamente agradecido por tu legado. Tu música perdurará para siempre. Descansa en paz..🌻🌻
I remember one reviewer saying that this song seemed to leap off the turntable. I was a teenager when "Respect" first came out, and I can attest to that. What a great song, performance, arrangement, production and record.
I am always amazed by the clarity of vocals coming out of the Black community in the 50's and 60's.
Absolutely no one on earth sang like Aretha Franklin ❤
Her sisters sing in the background. The "Sock it to me sock it to me"
As a child I grew up watching my parents dance to this music and as a grown woman I played this same music and have watched my children dance to it as well .timeless .....has given me some great memories
My favorite, MJ Aretha, Micheal Jordan. And Neil Armstrong. This song is so perfect, her voice is amazing.
I love all her songs🥰🥰🥰🥰
A man that shows and deserves Respect
Amen ~E💚♑️🚲
Absolutely love
Respect is an unknown word for many people in this day
When i was younger, your username is the name of the first band I ever saw in concert. Mark McGrath was my BIGGEST crush...thanks for reminding me of high school 😎🎒❤️
People need to find out what respect is, for each other and ourselves.
This song plays immediately when the first class starts at my school. Awesome choice of music.
This woman was a fucking legend. Wish she was still alive today. R.I.P.

THE QUEEN 👑
R-E-S-P-E-C-T is what I have for Aretha Franklin! I was alive when she started singing and loved every song. She will always be one of the greatest singers ever, male or female, because she belted out those songs with her whole heart and soul!
Dear Lord, I’m feeling hopeless and I can’t see a light at the end of my dark tunnel. Please help me. Show me the path back to hope. Walk with me so I don’t feel so alone. Lead me. You are my God and I know you can deliver me. I ask this in the name of your son, Jesus. Amen

Surrounding you in love and light sweetheart 💖✨

She really gave her all in this one, she's a real legen for this one ❤
Just watched Respect yesterday. Amazing film! Ms. Hudson gave a killer performance
My mom had this original 45 from when she was a teen. I remember the first time I heard this song (I was about 12) was a summer evening. We had the windows open and were listening to old records on 10. When this song came on, my little brother and I ran out into the front yard and started dancing. Mom was laughing so hard and joined us dancing in the front yard while the snooty neighbors looked at us like we were idiots. We didn't care. We were having too much fun! Every time I hear this song, it takes me back to that summer evening, dancing barefoot in the front yard to Aretha Franklin with my mom and brother.
Your voice always gives me positive energy, thank you so much and RIP Queen!!! Aretha 4EVER!!!
I remember my 3rd grade teacher would play this to our class to wake us up in the morning. Great memories!
Love listening to Aretha Franklin brilliant music
I wonder in how many movies this song was used.... must be sooo many. ❤ one of a kind she is. An amazing soul
This song, her voice, brings both young and old together. ❤

The best voice in the world. Amazing. Many kisses from Italy ❤❤
Ich liebe das Lied. Auch nach so vielen Jahren gibt mir der Song so viel Kraft 💪 danke an Aretha 💟
Aretha Franklin and this legendary song deserve more than an iMovie lyric video made by a 7th grader.
Imagine saying to someone: "What you want, baby I got it". The chutzpah, the absolute authority.
I love this woman's singing. It's so precise (nailing the notes) yet so hard and unforgiving. There's no hiding from her music, she has a diamond laser voice.
I LOVE HER AND I AM WAY TOO YOUNG TO BE LISTENING TO HER MUSIC BUT I DO NOT CARE
U R never too young to listen to the Queen of Soul.
Good for you 🤘🏿🍀
You've been brought up on good music 🎶
@@WhitneyHouston4eva1 and that's a fact 💜🤘🏿

One of the cleanest and most powerfull voices of all times, all her songs give me chills every time I listen to her... I know a lot of people think Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Barbra Straisand for example are better, but in my opinion they don't come even close... Aretha just got that passion in her voice 🙌❤🥰
No sense. The people you mentioned never come close to the best singers
#ARETHAFRANKLIN #RESPECT Queen of Soul Reigns Supreme. Aretha could sing sacred or secular music. She was that versatile. Daughter of a preacher from Detroit, MI. There was no one more talented than the Queen herself. She was also an exceptional keyboard player. But, it was that voice that gained Aretha her recognition 😄👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎹🥁🎻🪘🎸💙💖💜❤️💚💝💛🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
😇😇😇😇💯💯💯
I never listened to girl soul singers till i discovered UA-cam. Cant get enough now. Love em!
There's so many good ones but Ms Stretch's was the best
Very perfect for women, very good Lady Aretha Franklin ❤

Was sad when she passed now that I’ve learned more about her life and listened to her Music I’m even more sad, she was a songbird she will be missed 😭
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. for the Queen Ma'am of Relovution !
Cool memories from back then !!!
Left someone this week I was very in love with who ended up descending into rage, calling me names, cussing me out, devaluing me all for nothing. I demand respect 🙏
I'm sorry you went through that
Well done! It can still be hard but yes respect is more important than love
GOOD FOR YOU!!!! I’m glad you left that person, and those words they spoke to you weren’t true
😂😂😂😂😂
@nowwatching5206 you wish u could make me feel bad sweetie but we all know who will end up on the top
The voice, and the music, and the lyrics, are a solid 10/10 on my end, can't stop singing it in my head :D

Great voice of the Queen of the soul sound sounded and se danced boys several years 🎸🎼🥁🎹
True Dat.
I believe Aretha is the greatest singer of all time....PERIOD! Any era, any style, from the beginning of time. If you doubt it then look up when she filled in for Pavoriti at the very last minute at the Grammy's. She went on unrehearsed and sang with his orchestra, in his key in ITALIEN!!!!!! Oh yea, Otis should given her a co-write on this song. At least some of the publishing
