So appreciate your posting/presentation of this series, Dr. Farley! Thank you, Jesus, for equipping us with "everything we need for life and Godliness," as Your Spirit renews our minds. I am learning and growing in His Grace (as my Sabbath REST). I can finally say that there truly IS "NO MORE Condemnation...."! Great analogy about needing "software updates" (renewing the mind) to get "in-sync" with our new hardware (our new nature and identity in-Christ). Truly, there is NO MORE condemnation (from the enemy of God and from any religious spirit within our sphere of influence). I've been celebrating a clearer understanding (and freedom) of what this means only within the past decade (sadly, after over 45 years as a Believer and child of God). This teaching is in the minority in the pulpits across this nation, but one we're blessed to hear and take to heart. Praying Peace and Joy Unspeakable to you and yours, Saints. Come, Lord Jesus!! YSIC

God bless pastor farley thanks fir your ministry it seems to me that to simplify things we realize that as believers we have victory over temptation and sin by identification with Christ death and resurrection and by resisting a satanic attack Deric Prince used to say You can't die to a devil or cast out the flesh call it the flesh call it old nature call it the power of sin ultimately we gave victory over it all through our one Ness in Jesus

Our thoughts do NOT define us.
This message is good and satan does not want us to understand it,

Excellent teaching. You seem to be close to what the Grace folks teach with Rightly Dividing, but not fully. Am I right? Rightly Dividing helped me understand why Paul said, “Faith alone, and no works”, and James said, “Faith without works is dead”. Different audiences! James was speaking to the 12 Tribes. Would love to be pointed to a sermon that you taught pertaining to this. I really appreciate your insightful teachings. God bless.

The only problem I see with this is that the HEART is the seat of the emotions as well as thoughts. The Mind and the Heart is the same. The psalms and proverbs make it abundantly clear that the thoughts are in the heart of man. So pointing to your chest and your head makes no real sense of course since your thoughts are not in your chest or your head. The renewing of your mind has to do of course with the way we choose to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. So while it is true that we have had our heart and idols removed, and have now had Gods heart and desires put in, we may still be tempted to think another way. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind then has more to do with- in the words of the great theologian Sister Hazel: “if you want to be somebody else, change your mind..”
Let your thoughts be taken captive to Christ

I think you are confusing several terms...which, admittedly, is very easy to do. The heart is Greek kardia, and refers to desires. The soul (mind) is Greek psyche. The spirit (will) is Greek pneuma. You are assuming that the heart refers to the mind, but it actually applies to the spirit. Our spirit has desires which the mind then acts upon. God has given us a new heart (kardia/desires) and new spirit (pneuma), but the mind (psyche) must still be renewed. The mind is full of bad information, bad habits, and bad strategies that often fulfill the heart's desire in bad ways. God poured His love into our hearts, which is why we now want what He wants. When we don't actively exercise our will (spirit), then our minds will guide our actions out of habit -- like when you drive home from work on "autopilot" and don't even remember the drive.

Why would you want to be somebody else? I'm pretty sure God wants you to be who He made you to be when you were born again. That sounds like the heart of the woke culture who want to be someone (or something) else. It just isn't possible. You can only be what God made you to be. You can pretend to be someone else, but it won't make it true.

The believer knows they sin because the Holy Spirit convicts their heart. The unbelievers and false religious cults identify sin but rely on the government and institutions to convict. Justification comes from receiving the Holy Spirit.

The doctrine of the two natures is biblical. Just because we were given a new nature/new birth, DOESN’T mean the old nature left us. Our old sin nature is our natural tendency. That’s why we have to die daily to the flesh and walk in the spirit. If we walk in the spirit, we won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. Paul dealt with this very thing. He said that just because I’ve been given a new nature I find myself going back to the old nature of sin.

My partaking of the divine nature is still future, that why the 2 Peter 1:4 used the verb may become, because this is not yet the believer's present experience or reality, with the body not yet glorified. Our new identity in Christ is only ours by faith, waiting until this corruptible shall put on incorruption, and this mortal shall put on immortality. Everything I have in Christ right now is mine by faith. My eventual experience of being glorified by Christ is still future.

True indeed that my opponent is flesh, but not only flesh, but also sin that dwells in the flesh according to Paul in Romans 7:16-25. Starting from verse 16, "If then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in MY FLESH) NOTHING GOOD DWELLS; for to will is preset with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but SIN THAT DWELLS IN ME. I find then a law, that evil is present in me, the one who will to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the LAW OF SIN which is in my members. O WRETCHED MAN THAT I AM (I am not good, because no one is good, not even one Rom3:10). Who will deliver me from this body of death (this body of sinful nature waiting to be changed according to the glorified body of the resurrected Christ, which He will do at His second coming, that's why even now) I thank God, but with the flesh the law of sin."
Then Paul concludes in the following Chapter. "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. FOR THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS HAS MADE ME FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh. GOD DID BY SENDING HIS OWN SON IN THE LIKENESS OF SINFUL FLESH, ON ACCOUNT OF SIN; HE CONDEMNED SIN IN THE FLESH. Romans 8:1-3

He equips us with His Holy Spirit, who sanctifies us to become like Christ. It does not happen over night & we will never be just like Christ in this flesh. Because our flesh is sinful no matter if we are in Christ or not. When we stand before Him one day He will not see the old man, but He will see a reflection of Himself because that’s what the cross did for us. But the moment we 1st believed we did not become sanctified we were justified. And one day we will be glorified.

    • @soundlycreative

    • @graftme3168

According to the Bible, we have also been sanctified at the moment of salvation. The difference is learning to live according to what has already been done! God sees us as perfectly sanctified. It is our own self that doesn't "see" it. I don't think we can get more sanctified, but we can learn more about how to walk in the sanctification that we already have. It's the same as people saying they want MORE of the Spirit. You can't get more of the Spirit because you have ALL of Him. But, you can learn more about how to walk in the Spirit.

I think the disconnect is this, the proponents of "no sin nature" believe since the bible teaches the old man was crucified with Christ and we have "died to sin", then we have no sin nature left.
I can understand how they get there. What they are missing is, this is true only for our position in Christ. Our "standing" is 100% righteous before God. Our body of flesh is "dead" in God's justice system. We have "died to sin" positionally speaking and our spirit in Christ "cannot sin" (1 John 3:9). But the "state" we are in physically remains unchanged (John 6:63). The "spirit" of our mind needs to be "renewed" (Romans 12:1-2, Eph. 4:22-23).
"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;" Ephesians 4:22-23
In Romans 6, Paul first teaches positional truth from verses 1-10. Then he teaches us to "reckon" that true also for our mortal body (vs11-12). Wouldn't to "reckon" this true mean it really isn't so, but to reckon it so in our mind? It's the only way to "put off" the old man in our mind (Eph. 4:22-23).
This is a matter of perspective. Everyone thinks differently. In our mortal minds we "reason" things differently. But there is only one truth of scripture and the only way to know it is to yield the reasonings of our mind to the leading of the Spirit (1 Cor. 2).

You can not lose your salvation. God said, "No man will snatch you out of my hand," that includes you!
In the same way that there was nothing you could do to save yourself, likewise there is nothing you can do to 'unsave' yourself. Doesn't mean that we can not do unwise things or fail and choose to sin when we live according to the flesh. But our new nature in Christ desires to be obedient because among other reasons we understand that we can trust God's motive in not wanting us to sin is one of love and protection. Personally, I do not believe that having alcohol on occasion is a sin, rather drinking to excess "drunkeness" is the sin. That said, of you are prone to drinking in excess, addiction, or alcoholism. It may not be wise or "profitable" to do so. In other words, be brutally honest with yourself before God and ask him for wisdom and by faith trust in the fact that He will give it to you!
      Hope that helps.

I don't think that having a beer or a glass of wine is going to cost you your salvation. Of course, salvation cannot be lost. Jesus promised and now gives believers ETERNAL life. Eternal is forever, not temporary.

If we don't have the commandments it means we don't sin....and if we don't sin, we don't need grace...if we don't need grace, we no longer need a Savior or a gospel or a church for that matter....law goes hand in hand with grace.......the laws of moses were done away with by Christ at the cross and we no longer have to kill an animal for remission of sin....He is the last sacrifice, the Lamb of God for the whole world

The flesh has no power over those who have truly been Born Again. The struggle is when people try to conquer their sin by their own power, because they have not received the Holy Spirit:
    Collosians 2:11
"and in Him (Jesus) you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ,"
    Romans 8:9-11
"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you."
    1 John 3
"Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister."
When Paul spoke about his struggles with sin, he was speaking about his past before he received the Holy Spirit, because he also said:
    1 Corinthians 15:34 :
"Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God-I say this to your shame."
    Jesus told the Pharisees,
"You will die in your sins."
For anyone who dies in their flesh, they are guaranteed to end up in Hell.
To deny the power of the Holy Spirit to deliver us from sin so that we can live a righteous life is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
