The shopinglist for this project is:
Note, all materials were purchased in local stores and therefor the list below is not exactly the same since I try to find the materials online.
    Mirrors:
    IKEA LOTS 30x30 cm
    www.ikea.com/us/en/p/lots-spegel-39151700/
    Glue:
Any strong professional glue will work aslong its suitable for the right materials in your room.
    www.amazon.com/UNIBOND-1963627-Nails-Original-Cartridge/dp/B013XC64J2/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=no+more+nails&qid=1578178954&sr=8-1
    Moldings:
Search for quarter molding with planed edge like the black little template in the link below at your local hardware store. (makes it easier to place on the wall) If you find them unpainted they are always cheaper.
    www.homedepot.com/p/Alexandria-Moulding-WM-108-1-2-in-x-1-2-in-x-96-in-Primed-Pine-Finger-Jointed-Quarter-Round-Moulding-10100-93096C/205576634
    Spray paint:
We went with glossy finish. We felt it would go better with the mirrors.
    www.homedepot.com/p/Quick-Color-10-oz-Gloss-Black-General-Purpose-Spray-Paint-J2851812/100678561
The project works fine without a mitresaw but it speeds up the process since its a lot of cuts. the frame is 45 degree cuts and the rest is straight cuts.
We strongly recommend you to use a level.
We are sorry that so many did not like the music and promise to make up for it in future videos.
    Our driveway is fine.
We painted the moldings in an area thats just for containers and such. the rain took care of it within a few months.
    Our paint was environmental friendly.
Take care everyone and thanks again for watching!

      Hi!
No glue, just the strips that followed in the packade. The moldings locks the mirrors to the wall.
If you still feel that you need glue I would use the same as you use for the moldings.
      Good luck!

      The sections is about:
      Innerpieces:
      Horizional - 123 cm
      Vertical 30 cm
      Frame:
      Horizional - 218 cm
      Vertical - 125 cm
      Good luck!

This is beautiful! You can also do this with mirrors that you give an antique look, by removing the grey back of the mirror with paint remover, praying acid on the back so there are see through splatters, and then painting the back black or maybe even gold!

For those on a tighter budget, the Dollar Tree carries black plastic framed mirrors that will give a very similar effect without the need for tools and all of this assembly. They could be held with Command Strips, which would save the wall from damage for those who rent or like to change up decor.

Apply to plywood or mdf, movable and no wall damage!

    • @LivingDIY
      @LivingDIY  5 років тому

I think the best alternative is mdf and screw it to the wall,
The mdf is very straight and stable. A thick piece of plywood may work aswell.
You also need to ad some extra glue to the mirrors with the same glue as we used for the moldings. (otherwise there is a possibility that the mirrors may fall off after som time)
Keep in mind if you go with this idea that this mirror is so big and you really need to support the weight.
Setting it on the floor and then leaning against the wall is an option but may look a bit to homemade for some.
Using a thin plywood may cause the result to maybe be a bit curved
      Good Luck!

For the molding did you use quarter round? (1 curved side with 2 equal flat sides). It looks like it. Can you confirm. Also did you glue one of the flat sides to the wall, so the curved side is facing down for the horizontal moldings? And vertical did you make the curve side facing the outward edge of the mirror? Would appreciate any details you can provide. Thank you.

I like the concept. The only thing that I would have done differently would be to attach the mirrors and moulding to a sheet of plywood. Then attach that to the wall instead. It seems like it would be difficult to remove from drywall installed like this if you wanted to change the look.

PL200, a universal construction glue from Casco that works on all materials.
The brand of the glue is less importent. Just make sure the glue is of construction grade and works for glass and you should be fine!

Most strong adhesive is corrosive to mirror's back coating. The result of corrosion may appear after couple of years.
PL200 or other common glues may not be a good choice.
Usually will recommend using RTV silicone and mirro-mastic for mirror installation but may not be suitable for such supportless installation.

    • @LivingDIY
      @LivingDIY  5 років тому

      Youre a bit wrong there.
Ive been using different PL glues for like 10 years both in work and private.
PL200 is used at work by carpenters here in Sweden.
About 5 years back i made a mirror with palletwood, a mirror and PL200.
Still looks great and no sign of corrosion.

Thanks for this helpful video! Did you glue them on or have some sticky on back of tiles which sticks to the wall? Could you share link with what you used?

    * This might be a stupid question, I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ anything about DIY stuff so sorry if it’s dumb! Can it be used in a walk in bathroom shower 🚿 stall? Mine is made with 8” wide cinder blocks 🧱 that’s not even tiled, painted, plastered or anything!

I'd glue the wood / wood batten to hold the glass rather than glue the glass to wall, just in case if I need to replace it
