Brilliant review Aiden, good to see the model running round. I agree about the value for money compared with the other APT. The carriage interiors are superb and nicely light VC

Thank you. It really is a stunning set and definitely value for money. If only I could afford one of those sets in intercity swallow. Fingers crossed. Cheers

I have both the E from Rapido and the P from Hornby (2023 version) Rapido's E is by far the better model which is a shame for the APT-P Hornby really let us down big time.

Nice fleet, and the APT-E is a great addition 😀

Thank you. The APT-E originally didn't gel with me initially but as time went on its uniqueness became more appealing. It certainly is a great model and with the other APT's rally shows the progression in innovation. Cheers

@@AidansRailways I always liked the look of it, goes along side my HST's ok, all I'd dearly love is an official HST-P, it's about time rapido resurrected their project

@@mangleytown definitely need the HST-p to be put into OO Gauge production. I made a example of this about 6 years ago and can be seen in the background of some of my very early videos on a shelve behind me.

Impressive model aidan would love to have one but the nose overhang would demolish my scenery 😀

It is a very nice model and you are not wrong. Those nose ends really do sweep out around the curves haha

i dont have the space on the layout to park it and the time it would take to biuld and take apart would be longer than a running session so good luck to whom ever buys this train

It’e been great hearing you so happy with many of your revent purchases, with Rapido an Accurascale reminding us of the level of quality we rightfully should expect, but charging reasonable prices for it. I love the APT-E, but my layout curves won’t accomodate ot. Sigh! Enjoy it - looks like a cracking model.

Hi 👋. Thank you for getting in touch. Very good quality and for a reasonable price. To be honest the nose end really does make you look at the positioning of items on the layout. It’s been nice getting a second chance at purchasing it after missing out the first time. Cheers 👍

Very nice but fragile mate.don’t think the rivets were that pronounced on the real train but still very nice model I would get one but would have to stay boxed ,all the best 👍🏻😊

I’ve got to say it is a bit nerve racking putting it together and taking it apart the first time. Not that I would do it a lot but I have to admit it does get easier lol. Cheers

the only problem i would have buying one its best to leave it in one piece as the clips will wear out the more you take it bits the worse it will become and more chance of braking the clips or plugs

Hi mate, it’s really nice 👌. I’m a little less scared handling it now. It’s took some getting used 😆

Great overview of the model there Aidan, I have one myself and it’s fantastic, mine is DC too, it’s one of my best models, I will be honest with you though my experience to begin with wasn’t the best, the first issue I had with mine was the front lights on PC2 were not working and then after running it in the model started to speed up and slow down occasionally, this is an issue that wasn’t just affecting mine as I spoke to someone else who had almost the same experience as me but they returned their model compared to me who has persevered with it, the front lights on PC2 were not working was due to a broken wire in PC1 which I have fixed now but the speed up and slow down while I do think it has improved there is still the occasional occurrence of this, that was the reason why I fixed the broken wire to make sure that wasn’t touching anything and causing, what I want to ask is has yours been speeding up and slowing down while you have been running it or has it been fine, overall while I have had these issues I have persevered and like I say I do think it is improving the more it is ran though and I still regard it as a really good model, it’s one of the best trains I have in my collection, it is the second most expensive item I have in my collection behind the hornby class 800 which when I got that it was £325 but my dad got that one for me a couple of years ago now but for the price of £322 which is what I paid for the APT-e I think it’s excellent value.
I have found the coupling much easier the more I have put together and taken the train apart and I have to do that because I don’t have space to keep it all together, I actually was scared but had a bit of experience of a similar coupling system as the KR models GT3 has a very similar coupling where you have to connect electrical pins and snap the loco and tender together to get the model to work properly.

I don't think many people you might call rivet counters are actually counting rivets... if they were that anal about it they'd have realised that a scale panal gap is just so vanishingly small that it wouldn't actually be visible to the naked eye on models this scale.
More accurate(lol) to say that most people just care about a good representation of the things they see on the big things, not so much a scale representation of the real thing which would besides the panel gap lead to something like a 1/2 inch rivet head having a true scale size of 0.16mm... thats about the thickness of the hair of a person with thick strands of hair. 🤣 if we wanna talk anal levels of accuracy then really most of the "accurate" models we cream it over are really not accurate at all, they are pleasing to the eye because they highlight things we note on the real thing. 🙄 overall, probably best drop the rivet counter pajoretive and just say people who like nice looking models. Which is surely all of us? Some of us look closer, some of us don't, but none of us who buy rtr actually buy a scale model in the truest sense.
Price depends on company status, specifics of manufacturing, specifics of so much as to make comparing any two products from two entirely different companies moribund. Would be like comparing the dinner at boris Johnsons house to the dinner at darren the dole bludgers house, both food, but completely different finances, ingredient pricing, kitchens and people cooking etc. Its just not a valid comparison or a sound logical statement. It is in fact a prime example of the false equivalence type of logical fallacy.
