I got him as a baby, and gave him alot of affection. It helps ALOT to talk to them like if they were babies. My parrot always responds to high pitched baby talk. :)
You're doing pretty well with the quaker. I found myself wishing you celebrated and rewarded the bird each and every time he said what you wanted. I felt like you left him hanging too much. Oh well. Good journey.

I taught one of these birbs to quack. Except the way he said it actually sounded like he was saying "quack quackquackquack quaaaack quaaaack". And sometimes he'd just be like "Quack quack".

Aww my Quaker parrot doesn't talk although she responds highly well to specific songs (looking at me weird if I don't sing them to her when they come on) and to peekaboo or how much is that doggy in the window. :P
Just talk to them like you would a person and they pick up on words pretty easily. Mine's started to actually construct sentences from the words he says, and he's sarcastic about it too.

When I was 7 I always rode my bike up to the store with my quaker on my shoulder. His name was sweet pea. He was well known in the store.
