Here's my story with acupuncture. I'm the same age as NL, grew up in Denmark. Had a nervous bladder and my mom tried every quack-cure under the sun. Finally she took me to see an acupuncturist. This was about 2 years or so after Bjarne Riis won Tour de France and this guy apparently had worked on him, he had his entire wall in this waiting room plastered with photos and endorsements from the guy. It was like a bro-shrine of worship. Anyway, he starts putting needles in me left and right, I lay there for 30 minutes, he charges my mom $300 and tells me to not eat gummies after 6PM and don't drink water before bed. Shit did, unsurprisingly, NOT work. Bro blamed me for drinking too much water and my mom kept the sessions up for a WHOLE ASS year.
@@Stormer224 The whole trilogy is great, Vandermeer's entire bibliography is worth diving into if you enjoyed the Southern Reach trilogy! Especially Borne and Dead Astronauts.
@0:30 I'm usually not gonna comment on the benefits that others perceive from certain practices, but with those two specific examples.... I think the connection with yoga there, it's moreso that they believe it helps facilitate/ better allow the body to do those types of things, moreso than a direct 1-to-1 benefit to those sort of processes. As in it was going to happen regardless, but they believe that doing yoga, helps the body do it a little bit better than it would have done without the yoga practices. Sometimes that difference gets lost in translation when people are trying to sell the "idea" of something, but.... Like, I think that's a topic of "for them, and their bodies, they have noticed a correlation of slightly better digestion processes, for example, than what they have noticed without doing yoga." type of thought process. I kinda have to word it like that, cuz it's definitely about the nuances and about "body min-maxing" with those types of things. Also, that it's not something that literally everyone will see happen with their bodies if they do it, too. *Not a universal benefit that everyone will get from it, nor about an objective experience that is a direct correlation.... Even if people may advertise it as such. Lol.* But otherwise, largely agree with that take... Lol.
It kinda sucks, cuz I find myself re-explaining it cuz this topic comes up so damn often lol.... But it's definitely a subjective experience issue, and it's moreso that I believe some people's bodies react differently to certain stimuli, to a large degree... It's more like their body was going to do those things regardless of adding yoga to their routine, but they, at the very least, percieve that doing it makes those things work *more effectively* than if they didn't do the practice at all. Also I ain't ever believe that literally every single person will see those exact benefits if we all started up the practice right the heck now.... It's just not the case, never has been, and it is *very* weird when people imply that every single person will be immune to cancer if they would all simply do rising reverse dogboy, every single morning, for the rest of their lives... Lol. It's an obnoxiously specific distinction that I think gets lost in these topics, is why I'm trying to reword this lol.
@@execrisiscoreonearth I enjoyed reading your comments but the overuse of the word "lol" irked me. I suggest in the future you might wanna mix it up with an lmao or a rofl

I didnt know it was the guy from the mustache, why didnt you say it was the guy from the mustache".... It is a deep cut, but from this description, I cannot tell if NL actually knows what the Mustache is. Either option is equally plausible because that is kind of a correct description of the movie but it also sounds like he is improvising.
Hey calling Skeleton Key bad is where I draw the line, if one puts aside the pretentiousness they have as a kino enjoyer, it's an incredible example of voodoo done right in a movie
What the hell, is he hiding Dles from youtube viewers now? He talks about playing all these new Dles "yesterday" but there sure in the hell wasn't a Misc video yesterday and none of these Dles appeared before.
NL dissing yoga is insane. I have rheumatoid arthritis and it was a LIFESAVER for me. Helped my mental health/anxiety more than anything ever has, helped my body more than almost anything too. I will never stop telling people to try yoga for 30 days and see how you feel after because for me it was life changing.

Whenever I remember that Sucker Punch exists, I classify it under "cinema miscellaneous" as well.
Honestly I think all of Snyder's output, except Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen, can be filed under the same.
my mother says she classifies it under the "fight club for women" subgenre, apparently
6:57 Honestly the hardest I've ever laughed at an NL joke. Holy shit that sent me.
One of my friends discovered the Costco guys and I stole (Kory?)’s joke about Costco guys fucking in the bathroom and it killed
that was indeed Kory, and very nice

do you have a problem with Umbrellas of Cherbourg, or are you agreeing it's kino? :P
NL has a terrible taste in film and music tbh, so not really surprising. Also seems to disregard anything made prior to 1990 lmao
I agree, there’s too many Pokémon. They really should’ve stopped making new ones after Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.
say no to acupuncture, homeopathy and chiropractic stuff
Is the accent supposed to be California guy, Baltimore guy, or is it a reference to something else? Inquiring minds want to know!
