I had no doubt in the Lexington,it was Encino all the way for me when he was cross referred to the Lexington,so he is saying to the others Here I COME!he was awesome 👏 and he wlll be I feel in the money !Elaine.
I agree.... the last Derby winner to come out of the Lexington was Charismatic in 1999 for the coach D. Wayne Lukas. Encino ran well but seemed to have to struggle a bit in the stretch to put away The Wine Steward who was coming in off a lengthy layoff and although he ran well, he definitely looked like he needed the race by the time he got to the 1/8 pole.
I'm curious, Craig, about what odds you feel the top contenders would need to be in order to be a fair wager? I am expecting Fierceness to be favorite, primary because his best seems better than everyone else. Of course, he obviously doesn't always show his best, and he will be running with 19 other horses at a brand new distance. I feel as if he would need to be at least 4-1 to even be considered a good bet, and I doubt he will be that high. Sierra Leone should be a half to a full point behind in the betting before it gets murky. The two times a year I love the most is just before the Derby and just before the Breeders Cup. I'm assuming this is a special time for you, too.
I think Fierceness at 7/2 or higher is a good wager based on his three fast races. I think Sierra Leone needs to be 5/1 based on that he is a closer and will have to work out a trip most likely. I think eliminating some contenders from the Exacta and keying a few horses in the exacta will be where the value is this year. For Example - I don't see Just Steel doing much. So he is a toss for me.

Dont like Encino in the Derby with 3 weeks rest.. A Lexington winner has not won the Ky Derby in 23 years
I think Encino fits better in the Preakness, the Kentucky Derby is a quick turn-around.
