      I started taking bjj years before I ever wrestled and Just a year of wrestling had me hitting double and single legs on my bjj opponents in comp like it was nothing. If anyone on here competes and wants to take it to the next level, step onto that mat with both grappling arts and you'll dominate most opponents.

      It's a good idea to learn a back arch before attempting this throw.
      Start with a back bridge on a wrestling mat to work on a good arch posture on your toes. Then back arch push-ups on a wrestling mat from a back bridge to further develop and strengthen your arch. Next, use a partner spotter to begin practicing back arches on a wrestling mat. The partner will face you standing upright outside your stance to your right holding your right hand with his right hand and using his left hand to support your arm when needed. Arch backwards and your partner will lessen your impact on the mat with his hand grip until you are able to develop a smooth arch. If you have a crash pad you can also start practicing your arch solo on the crash pad. Step in throw your head back pop your hips and aim for a high arch. Only begin to throw a partner once you have developed your ability to arch.
      We have these arch drills available for our members on youtube and at kolat.com.

      @@KOLATCOM what are the steps to prevent a person from landing on their neck? (Put another way, to keep practice safe, what are the key things the thrower can do and what should the person being thrown do?).

    • @KOLATCOM
      @KOLATCOM  Рік тому

      @@MikeEHY If you are inexperienced with the back arch you can start out by practicing the back arch on a crash mat without a partner. When throwing, the better your back arch is the softer the landing is. The person being thrown will naturally lean forward and tuck their chin to their chest when they are being thrown backwards. This is the proper thing to do and you will land on the top of your shoulders avoiding injury. You should only wrestle and drill on high quality wrestling mats and wrestling or gymnastic crash mats which are designed to absorb the impact. Folding mats, tumbling mats etc. are not safe to wrestle on.

      Make sure you learn the back arch before trying it live.
      Back Arch

      Some BJJ guys get really weird about wrestling in sparring. I think it’s just that most BJJ schools don’t really train takedowns that much, so going airborne is a really scary and new experience for them lol.

    Ohhhh man I love this move. I have caught quite a few wrestlers/BJJ guys with this. Especially due to the fact most jiu jitsu guys go right to the whizzer.
    Depending on who my opponent is you can make this a really fun ride for them. If you want to make it really fun that’s when you introduce them to the world. Thank you for demonstrating this your form and tips are right on. Since the key is getting deep under that knee.
    It’s always a good idea to also practice this on people with different heights and body types to really get this down. The majority of the time they’re not ready for this so it’s quite a treat!😂😂
