You make farming look so peaceful and fulfilling.
also love your "Bluetooth Straps"!!
Tim is a funny boy with the Bluetooth straps. Thanks for the video.
Love those Bluetooth straps, where can I get some. 😂😂👌
Those Bluetooth straps are the best tie downs invented use mine every day
Living in Iowa I always love watching you try to grow corn in Montana. I can see why more people don’t grow it there but also like the fact you accept the challenge every year. 😂
Around Billing montana, they have irrigation. They grow 150 plus bushel corn.
Yeah, those Montana people just can't grow corn 😂😂. Meanwhile, we here in Idaho we can grow corn that can Rival even the Midwest. In fact, last month, I went through Nebraska and Iowa for work. And I saw y'all corn, and I gotta say Idaho did a better job. Then again, we also didn't have as bad of a drought as you guys. My gosh, y'all rivers were almost bone dry. Now, the West is known for its droughts. However, your state's drought is far worse than anything Idaho has seen in years. Now, I've lived on Idaho my whole life of 38 years. And I've seen a drought that bad. I pray y'all get some serious 🙏 rain and snow this year. Cause you guys need it.
@@automandan what type of yields Do you get there? We’re talking 150 200 here or better Midwest
@@paulprigge1209They need Irrigation there (in Idaho) to Rival Midwest I-State Non-Irrigated Corn. You can grow Corn just about anywhere anymore, even Alaska they are growing Short Season Corn (55-60 Day) and have Decent Yields.
@@automandanhere in the Northern panhandle of Nebraska our limiting factor is typically heat units with irrigated corn. I’d imagine you run into a similar scenario in Idaho.
Love the bluetooth controlled straps? Have used them a lot but didn't know there was an app for them? LOL, love it.😀
We farm in a similar precip area to you (18”) in Western South Dakota, normally run 14,000 population and get along good. Gives us plenty of top end yield potential on a wet (for us) year.
Good job guys and girls
That is how a lot of farmers harvested corn down here in Illinois back in 1988
Remember corn can actually make its own micro climate it you plant it thick enough and you get at least the minimum amount of water! I live between 7,000 and 8,000 ft and I haven’t always planted corn but even up here if conditions are right I can have a great corn patch.
Very interesting twist to the usual Corn Harvest videos elsewhere. 👍
Tim gotta get you a bicycle you can hang on the tractor! It’s a lot quicker than walking !
It’s so wild watching you harvest corn with flex reel. I love that you plant new things like the hemp & corn. Makes total sense to raise it for cow feed. Kinda like a triple crop, corn-food, manure-fertilizer & meat.
Since the price of grain always fluctuates, I’d think growing a variety of crops, if you’re able, more options to cash in on.
30 bu corn was the same yield I had back in 73 from a 2 year drought in SW Iowa. Glad to watch your farming operation, God bless.
Have you ever thought of trying dryland milo . The Petersons Brothers grow a bunch for their cattle. Just another crop to look into trying.
Most respect for stepping out of the box.
I was thought/wondering the same thing. I think they would be far better suited to Raise Milo vs Corn. That and Milo is about a 1/3 of the Cost for Seed and requires about 1/2 of the Nitrogen/Fertilizer requirements and is Far more Drought Tolerant. It also is a Great Cattle Feed Option with the same Feed/Nutritional Benefits of Corn.
Tony , running everything through the combine did think about baling the corn stocks to use or sale. Here in Illinois I know people that both feed corn stocks and use them for bedding. And you can just drop a windrow and then bale it. Just a thought for future. I enjoy watching your channel and would some day love to come to Montana and meet you all.
Great video Tony.
It can't hurt to try a bit of diversification, love the corn!
How will you know if you don't try? Great video and I like the way you and Tim explain things. God bless you all and keep you safe!
Sweet noises from your truck
Living in NW Ohio and on the eastern edge of the Corn Belt, hearing you are raising corn in Montana is really cool. I normally hear of yields of 200+ bushel an acre, but to get any level of yield out your way is amazing
Tim, could you post a link to the Bluetooth Strap App? I couldn't find it in the Apple store. It looks pretty handy!😂
Love seeing you grow corn keep it up!! Helps break the disease cycle for sure id think.
Good you got the corn with the snowstorm we all had
30 bushel corn that's only 3' tall should easily flow through your 50' flex head. That's probably the most efficient way to pick it up. I wouldn't try it on 12' tall 250 bushel corn though.
Ya that wouldn’t work so well with out the corn pans.
I like Bluetooth straps😂😂. Going to get me some of those
I’ve never see corn harvested with a reel head😳😆(bean head…?) neat to see somethin new. I’m in southwest indiana, melon country
Love watching you move the bales!
That's Awesome rake and bale the stalks for hay supplement and or bedding and pinch those pennies the dollars will take care of themselves
I just learned something new today. I had no idea you could harvest corn with a 50' flex draper head. I thought you had to use a corn header to harvest corn 🌽
Milo/Grain Sorghum is very similar to Corn in Plant/Stalk type. You can cut Milo/Grain Sorghum with either a Row Crop Header or a Platform Auger/Draper Header.
Good show
Good try on the corn for MT
plus you have corn for the beef cattle
to feed the family-- --can't go wrong there!
I think it is really cool you did so well with the equipment you had on hand! Ingenuity at its best!
Corn is raised all over Montana . Mostly on irrigated land though
When we started planting corn started out with a 2 row planter
Never hurts to try something different... stay safe..
Should look for an old gleener combine for picking the corn. Seeing quite a few guys using them lately. Check out dirt ,grain and steel he has a bunch of them. I think he has l1,l2,l3 and m3 even has one on old steel tracks , some with duels .
He had me at Bluetooth straps... Lol
in eastern iowa we had corn that looked like this, some only made 47 bpa, usual 190-240...
Corn like that you should have had Tim out in the grain cart so he feel at home during harvest….🤪🇺🇸🤪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'd say try 12 inch row corn with the air seeder next year. And do the corn planter as well.
Great to see you having a go at something out of the box. Keep some of your seed for next year. Great job. 👍
Don't keep corn seed, hybrid seed a lot better!!
Yeah Kevie boy that's why one has been conned by multi national companies. High use of chemicals and chemical fertiliser to grow it for fuel for machinery to grow next years crop. What a joke.
I always found that hand shelling makes samples test one or two points high because of moisture in your hands gloves doesn't help they are damp too usually Glad you did better May God continue to give you increase 🙏
Would be interesting to see planter vs drill one year if you do get one.
Never make fun of you, MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT BE SAFE MY FRIEND
Does 30bpa pay for the input costs? Also it looks like it works works well through a draper head.. pretty cool
Not really worried about covering cost on a trial. If I had to buy the corn it would cost more.
@FastAgMontana right. Makes sense. Was wondering the results, good ,bad, or otherwise. Definitely try with a planter or even skip some more rows. Corn is a picky and wimpy when it's young. Neat to see the trial! Thanks for the videz
Way better than last year!!!
Looked like popcorn in the tank
They should powder coat the Bars Red for Case Combines like the Yellow for Deere. It would look sharp.
30 bushel, not bad. I think there are fields around me here in Minnesota that may run that much this year
Our corn down here isn’t ever that dry, unless it goes through a bin…
That corn looks ……different lol😬😆🤷♂️
Love the idea of the Bluetooth straps. Do u have a link to where I could get some?
I would look for a 20" or 22" corn planter. You can get a corn header or use your current header.
Hi 👋🏻
I need a set of those bluetooth straps. Are they on your Amazon store?
Not too shabby especially for zero extra investment in corn equipment! We plant 12.5k in 30" rows here. Corn is not a real money making crop here most years.
I know this might sound far-fetched, but now bail the fodder, not only is it good feed but it's good bedding
Blue-toothed straps!!?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tony just curious what brand and how many rows planter are you thinking about buying?
Not really sure.
Cool stuff. So was it an average year for you all or better or worse with the crops?
Sounds like they need to get a bigger scale!!!
popcorn is an interesting crop for momtana
It looked more like popcorn.
Came here to say the same thing!
Bluetooth straps? Gotta get me some.😂
An operation like yours could find a decent 12 row planter, and a good enough 12 row head to do the acres you want for a decent price. Corn has fallen some but you guys in cattle country want the distillers so bad it holds up the basis to maybe make it worth it.
I'm sure you have lot's of folks offering advice on corn in Montana. If you're actually working to find a way to grow corn as a cash crop I can't help wondering if your feed lot friend where you sell some hay? wouldn't be interested in buying it from you chopped. I would think his nutritionist would be ecstatic to have the chance to run a group or two through with corn sileage.
The freight to them would be a killer. They buy some shelled corn.
Then how about you and your family grow some specialty beef like Wagu a niche product that would be profitable. Won't have to have big herd numbers.@@FastAgMontana
Surprised you don't silage it green
Whare did u get blue tooth straps ive been looking all over for them
Corn, you gotta have a hobby!
You need it so you grow it. Makes sense to me.
That didn't look to bad for popcorn 😬.
It wasn’t popcorn but kinda looked like it.
👍👍
It looks like it was Good Test Weight Corn (61-62 is Great Test Weight in the I-States) even if it was only a 30 Bushel Yield.
I am curious if you added any Fertilizer/Nitrogen Fertilizer or if you just Planted it and went with what Fertility was in the Dirt.
I would like to see you give it a Go with a Real Corn Planter and Corn Header. Same goes for Milo, you are Really Suited to Raise some Milo/Grain Sorghum with your Climate. That and Milo is about a 1/3 of the Cost for Seed for Corn and requires about 1/2 of the Nitrogen/Fertilizer requirements of Corn and is Far more Drought Tolerant. It also is a Great Cattle Feed Option with the same Feed/Nutritional Benefits of Corn.
Is it not worth dropping it and baling it for the cattle
Was that 62 # test weight on that corn?
👍
Today I'm watching and looking for evidence of TJ from RTB.
Lol. They are everywhere.
What’s corn go for a bushel up there?
Next year try 30-36000 pop
Is it not worth dropping it and baling for your beef
Running 12 now
What do they do with doubles we weigh 124000
What kind of corn is that??
Rea seeds yellow field corn.
I didn't know ANYBODY grew corn in Montana? It should bring a premium!
Our corn in central Indiana is might better than yours We are losing more wonderful farm ground around south of our farm. It is being covered up with cement. They are pouring over 670 + loads none stop. Starting at 11 last night. You might look it up if you want
Lilly Lebanon Project. Very interesting. 🤔
I may have a 12 row corn header to sell you if your looking
Just wondering how is the little girl doing that needed skull surgery????
Our friend Kelly?? She’s doing wonderful! She’s growing so much more comfortably these days! It was a long healing process, but she’s made HUGE strides!
Your corn is small, looks like popcorn.
Poor stand due to lack of moisture???
Why not plant 28-30000 population with corn planter?
Dwarf corn ? 😂
Just do you Tony who cares about the rest and what they say
Hey, find you an old 12 row planter and keep on keeping on, cow food, and cows produce methane gas, ruins the planet! - Lol,lol, lol!
Next time try and split weigh
More Fast Ag!
