- Today we take a look at how one of Robotnik's most well known battle stations integrates itself into the Archie Sonic continuity. I'd say, it's about time. #Sonic #Comic #Megabeatman

I remember seeing ads for this mini-series so much when I was a kid. The covers looked amazing (and still do) and it felt like they were gonna stick really close to the games!
...but apparently, that isn't what we got. I never found issues of these, so this video is my first time learning of them, and I hate to say I'm a little underwhelmed. It's just... more 90s Archie Sonic. Granted, that's probably what I should have expected xD
It's pretty weird that in the early 90s, they did all they could to stay away from the name "Dr. Eggman" and yet:
- Dr. Robotnik was shaped like an egg
- All the egg references were kept in the west.
And at 10:19, Sonic's pose was swiped straight from the Sonic OVA, when Sonic and Tails first meet Black Eggman/Metal Robotnik.
4:57 That's no moon!
8:05 It's even sorta shaped like a Chaos Emerald.
12:27 for a second I thought Robotnik said "snoopingas" >_>
16:26 Wait... holy crap, you're right! The garbage chute, the "dressing up as the enemy soldier" schtick, the aforementioned "that's no moon"... this miniseries has more Star Wars references than I thought! And they didn't feel too out of place without "getting" them. I'd say that's a good sign!

I am Iron Tails
Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We'll just pass him there
Why should we even care?
He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
Where he traveled time
For the future of mankind
If only we could've gotten Mecha Sonic (Sonic 3 & Knuckles) in the Archie Comics...
11:31 Hahahaha!
This page is ridiculous and at the same time awesome!
I love the Archie comics legacy 😁
Thanks for the review
Hey, fellas. I recently looked on the preview of idw sonic comic issue 25. It seems the restoration will land on angel island for protection.
I don't know that they ever officially connected the two, but I want to say that the reason why this was called the SonicQuest mini-series was because while the Death Egg was a major plot point here, it's really more of a subplot, as the main story being told here is King Acorn's return and subsequent crystallization, as well as everybody's attempts to restore his body and mind using all sorts of magical items. This over-arching plot would continue into the similarly titled Knuckles Quest storyline, where Knuckles is tasked by Sally to locate and retrieve the Sword of Acorns in order to restore King Acorn when the Power Ring idea fails to do the trick here. Knuckles would go up against a handful of demigods that were never seen or mentioned before and rarely seen after, along the way. It wasn't a particularly great storyline, and it was published across a FEW different publications, making it that much harder to follow, but I think there were four or five installments scattered across issues 42, 45, and 46 (with issue 44 and Knuckles' appearance there taking place right in the middle of it, lol) and in the Sonic Live special, and MAYBE the Sonic Blast special, so there was a bit of jumping around in order to follow it, but all it served to do, really, was introduce the Sword of Acorns to the series and make it even clearer that Sally and Knuckles had some sort of past with one another. All that having been said, I've always just rolled with SonicQuest was the name given here because it was the first three parts of what was really a larger "Quest" storyline involving the Freedom Fighters' attempts to restore King Acorn to his normal self, which... honestly, it's debatable whether or not they ever REALLY get him back to normal. There were a LOT of King Acorn shenanigans to follow, lol.

Hello Robin.
Long time no see.
I want to make amends okay.
I hope you enjoy the movie.
16:03-16:16 You said it Megabeatman
That is the kind of story I like in a Sonic story.
Sure, it is not for everyone but still.
I would like to see this good balance of goofiness and seriousness for IDW comics.
11:35 Heh, I see what you did there.
I don't get it.
Still, Luchador Robotnik looks goofy and awesome!
I would love to see that in the modern comic series.
@@meganinten0078 Weeellllll... What if I told you that it actually has been done before, and even as a big plot point?
