I bought one of these from you a while back, and I love it! The battery seems to last a long time (i use a rechargeable), but I also find that the fine wire tips get bent (easy to straighten up with pliers, though, as long as you do it fast). Also nice to have that spare tip tucked away in the battery compartment cover. Use it all the time when adding thread. Double knot (aka reef or square knot), make a little blob on the short ends, then pull tight and it makes a nice secure inline knot that doesn't waste any thread. Learned this way from Patrick Duggan here on UA-cam.
love mine, it was my birthday present to myself :-) money very well spent! I love the retractable tip. I don't have to worry about loosing the cap or burning something before it has cooled down
Jill, I wondered.... since the release of the Thread Zap II, have you tried the new version? I'm curious as to which version you prefer. I've decided to pick one up, but there are features that I like in the original Ultra Thread Zap, too. Yes I have bought two and with both, after a short time I had to renew the batteries every time I went to use it . I have now bought an electronic USB rechargeable lighter which is so much better and only cost 1/3 of the price .

I take out the batteries before I mess with the tip; no burns!

I love the idea of a thread zapper, but mine have never lasted long. Not the tips, but they have just stopped heating up, even with new batteries 🙁
