I also had a Ken doll. But when buying it, I did feel embarrassed because it was in the girly isle. I'm glad stores are walking back the pink isle, because that was a massive disservice to all young boys, by making an entire section of the store that they'd be embarrassed to even walk near.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't think to mention My Little Pony. There's a firmly 'girly' franchise that managed to, about a decade ago, appeal to the other half of the market, almost by accident. I feel like that was the vanguard of this whole change to eliminate the gender barriers in toy marketing. The toy companies realized they could sell My Little Pony dolls to boys, if they did it correctly, and eventually realized it could work for other brands as well. Barbie I think might be one of the last toy brands to even try, but I might be wrong.

Boys play with dolls and dress ups all the time online. Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto, COD, Cyberpunk. It's all digital dress ups with guns. Clothes and makeup with ballistic accessories.

Nothing wrong with playing dolls…but to make a movie about dolls with body image issues, and people thinking they are promoting empowerment, success and how life can be a dream is not right…how many young kids see this movie and think it’s normal to look, be like them and have what they have then try to replicate that image and lifestyle…that’s very shaky ground for a kid or young person to to look up.

There's a little known Barbie Doll, known as Divorce Barbie, who gets Ken's house, his car, the investment property and his boat.
