IReplaced the water pump in a Vue using this system. Space is very limited and much of the work is by feel. It takes a long time. Got it all back together and found a whining noise. This is caused by the auxilary chain having a racheting tensioner. Using this tool/method does not keep the sprocket and chain tight enough to prevent the rachet advancing a notch. When the chain is too tight on re-assembly you get this howling whine at highway speeds. I had to remove the cover on the front of the engine to access the tensioner and reset it. Taking this face plate off exposes the water pump sproket fully and it is much easier to remove it from the pump than the method using the special tool. Having the front plate off also avoids the risk of the screws dropping into the sump. this operation accesses the work area from the wheel well. You have to remove a skirting strip, the front pulley / power belt and drain off the sump oil. It was actually less of a frig than the method shown here.

Gonna do the whole timing chain, water pump, and anything else along the way that is replaceable on my 2006 ion. 230K miles. Figure its about time.

More worried about dropping them 3 bolts into the oil pan! I stick a magnet inside my socket. To stop that.

Put them in the socket and wrap duct tape around them real good so then they won't fall
Full moon keeps from dropping 3 bolts which is the tricky part
