Old video but I just watched this one today and about the left lane, I think if Murder Nova would have done more of a rolling burn out and laid down some more hot rubber further out he would have hooked better and that may have made the difference. He was still freight training on the top end, it’s the launch that killed him. I don’t make quite the power Murder does with my grudge car, but it’s still well over a grand so I have a few tricks up my sleeve for bad lanes/tracks and that’s one of them. It would have been worth trying anyway because it really does make a difference vs a standard burn out.

As a Ford guy I can say one thing: That Demon was BEAUTIFUL. I was definitely rooting for it. Not only does it win looks in my opinion, but by fact it wins the cool contest because blown cars with those insane cams are just so special. I dare say that had it hooked, it may well be the quickest car there by a decent margin!

I love watching these types of events...usually. Didn't come as any surprise that nearly everyone advancing came from the right lane. Almost took away from all the sick cars lined up there... left lane sent just about everyone home.

I miss the '70's when I was street racing in the San Fernando Valley. The majority of those racing where daily drivers and 4 speeds. No tubs, corked up on street tires. Races were a full quarter mile. Once in a Blue Moon, someone would trailer in a race car, the you would ask for car lengths. Everything was negotiable, so a street car could race a race car. Races with open exhausts were rare as the noise would attract complaints. Negotiating car lengths allowed everyone to be competitive. Nitrous was just coming into use so it was rare to find anyone using it. When they did have nitrous, you could negotiate running with or without nitrous.

on the show when they race those are on the actually street but they are closed down by police, when they do test hits those are illegal, and when they race when the show isn't following them those are also illegal. This is 100% accurate because I have talked to a few different people who have raced on the show
