The Blancpain Bathyscaphe was created in 1956 with the aim of offering a diver's watch whose size would make it suitable for everyday wear. It is one of the mainstays of the Fifty Fathoms collection. It has evolved over the years and was reinterpreted by Blancpain in 2013 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms.
Key features: Complete Calendar ∙ moon phases ∙ seconds ∙ unidirectional satin-brushed titanium bezel with ceramic insert and Liquidmetal hour-markers∙ secured movement ∙ sunburst anthracite dial ∙ self-winding
Combining sporty features with day of the week, month and date indications, the Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet model reinforces the principle of everyday utility that gave rise to the first Bathyscaphe. The information on the dial is complemented by a moon phase positioned in a large window at 6 o'clock. As usual, Blancpain has taken care to protect the 6654.P self-winding movement of this Bathyscaphe by equipping its date mechanism with a security system. This enables the owner of the watch to handle each indication at any time, without any risk to the movement, unlike the usual calendar watches.
Measuring 43 mm in diameter and water-resistant to 30 bar (approximately 300 m), the new Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet is available in two satin-brushed versions with well-marked contours: one in red gold and the other in grade 23 titanium. The red gold model is paired with a sunburst blue-gradient dial that catches the light with remarkable ease. The gold hour-markers, hands and moon match the case colour and the dial is framed by a unidirectional rotating bezel with a brilliant blue ceramic inlay featuring a CeragoldTM time scale. The colour-material match continues on the back of the timepiece which reveals a red gold oscillating weight. Meanwhile, the titanium model is distinguished by subtle shades of grey. Its sunburst anthracite dial is enhanced by gold hour-markers, rhodium-plated hands and moon. The likewise anthracite ceramic bezel is satin-brushed for a resolutely contemporary matt effect and bears a graduated LiquidmetalTM scale. The gold rotor of the titanium model has been given an anthracite NAC coating instilling a sporty and dynamic vibe.
The Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet watch in red gold is available with a blue NATO or sailcloth strap, with the latter option also offering a choice between a pin buckle and a folding clasp. The titanium model comes with a titanium bracelet or a grey NATO or sailcloth strap.
The bathyscaphe looks so much better with complications, it matches the undersized indices well
Nothing wrong with some additional indications ... This Bathyscaphe anyhow is more to be seen as a luxury SUV ... you can/may go rough, but you must not...
I’ve purchased this watch a few weeks ago, and I have 0 regrets. It is my daily watch (with careful of course). It is useful for all the occasions I need. Swimming, special occasions and just read the time daily. You really get everything with this watch (except hacking the second, though it really wasn’t a deal breaker for me) I really love the poetic moon phase look.
Amazing watch amazing brand. Awesome review keep it up sir.
Bravo! Congratulations! Thanks for sharing! May your Blancpain continue to always show you happy seconds, minutes and hours…
Just passing here to say this channel is amazing and the images we see here are truly top horology! thank you once again Alexander!
Thanks for sharing our passion, but please don’t just “pass here”, stay and enjoy all our content…
The dial is well balanced for having so much going on, I love it!
Love your comment, thanks for sharing!
Excellent review Alexander! Blancpain is still underrated, enthusiasts should give them a look. I’m a Rolex fan boy but took the plunge and purchased a Fifty Fathoms 45mm blue titanium. These watches are beautifully made and fit and finish is second to none. Useful luxury at its best!
Love your comment, thanks for sharing!
If I win the lotto tomorrow, I'm buying this watch.
Love your passion, thanks for sharing!
This set of specifications in a dive watch is so over the top! Brilliant presentation as always Alexander.
Love your comment, thanks for sharing!
Lovely. Triple date moonphase. I'll take this over a Sub any day.
Alexander, thank you for another great review. Love the full moon. This is really beautiful timepiece.
You are very welcome! Thanks for sharing our passion…
Thanks for letting me know this is not a true annual calendar watch! This is very crucial information and so far you are the only one talking about it.
How come? Who say something contrary? Really?
Thank you Alexander! I'm wearing my steel version as I'm watching your video. A very intriguing watch that still captivates even after a couple of years of use.
Thanks for sharing our passion and your thoughts with us! May your Bathyscaphe continue to always show you HAPPY seconds, minutes and hours....
I can see this being my one and only watch to own. Absolutely beautiful!
With this Blancpain you are for sure going to be “well dressed”… it a useful complication protected by a good looking and hard-wearing case…
Blancpain is quality of 100%
Agreed!
Beautiful!
May I ask you to specify?
I really love every video you do! Soo detailed and love your narration and videography!
Thank you so much! Love your comment!
Alexander, Happy Friday! Thank you for a fantastic review.
I am happy to read this, thanks again for sharing our passion! Any thoughts about the diver?
An absolutely spectacular watch. I think the inclusion of a complicated, high horology movement in a dive watch is a real coup. Especially in a case this well made. It also makes sense of the slightly odd Baths hands/markers - they need a chrono or calendar to look right. But, I know the size is determined by the big movement, but a 43mm skin diver is very big and rather defeats the very purpose of the Bathyscaph - to be every day wearable. I’d bet the 45mm 50F wears smaller…
James, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
The smaller indices work better on a smaller case. As in the 38mm version. At least to my eye. Love them or hate them, they are integral to the design language of the Bathyscaphe, enlarge then significantly, it’s not a Bathyscaphe at that moment.
Love the watch!
Thanks for sharing our passion! Will you try it on your wrist?
Thanks so much for showing this watch in such good detail! I am planning a trip this weekend to see some watches. Based on flat press release photos this was among the top three watches on my list. Now I'm not so sure. We will see.
You are very welcome! Thanks for sharing our passion… let me know if you have any questions and please keep us posted…
@@WatchAdvisor I saw the Blancpain. It wore well, more compact and not as tall as I expected. I thought the day indication a bit small to read easily. All the dial elements looked great fill the dial well. Almost pulled the trigger after settling on a price, then I noticed the watch had a scratch. Took the wind out of my sails/I had time to pause and think. I asked what else was cool and discovered the Vacheron Constantin 56 blue sector dial and walked away with that watch. Quite different from the Blancpain but I liked it more instantly.
Always enjoy your reviews Alexander 🙏
Thanks for your kind feedback and for sharing our passion!
The Blancpain is a beautiful watch but a bit big for me 6.75in wrist
@@juniorjohnson5961 End of the day you will have to try the watch to know if it fits or not…
Great Alexander, excellent video.
Thanks for sharing our passion! Any thoughts about the watch?
@@WatchAdvisor Obviously an excellent watch maybe a little big but only a little bit. I was now on their website and I was admiring the other collections as well, a pleasure for the eyes.
Best step is trying a Bathyscaphe on your wrist… Keep us posted 😉
Dieses schöne Stück Haute Holorgerie wird meine Sammlung noch diesen Monat bereichern.
Congratulations! Please keep us posted and let me know if you have questions…
Comparing it with Omega 300m Diver chronograph feels bigger. At least on my wrist, i had the feeling that Blancpain was a bit too big even though the Omega was actually the bigger watch. I have to say it felt light and in person I really liked the dial. It is a beautiful watch but not for my wrist.
Thanks for sharing your personal experiences with us!
wish they can come with a saphire cap bezel fully lumed like the 50 fathoms
I have really been considering this watch. Ty!
Let me know if you have any questions and please keep us posted…
Thanks again Alexander for a nice and thorough review. I really appreciate that you make the effort to show the date change at midnight in your reviews. For me (I know it's a bit pedantic) this is an important consideration when buying watches in this price category. It's an interesting watch but the muddled date change AND the fact that there is no hacking seconds is a big no for me.
You are very welcome! I personally don’t care about these specific, long lasting day/date/month changes, but I do miss the hacking seconds…
If they can make this an annual
Calendar, it would be untouchable
thanks for letting us know....
I watched the first four seconds and had to comment right away! This watch is spectacular! I want it, and I want it now…❤️
Edit - will admit to being a little disappointed in no hacking seconds hand
Thanks for sharing our passion! So what will be next? Are you going to try it on your wrist? Please keep us posted!
Nice
lovely watch, very good review, disappointed no hacking, would still love though
Thanks Alexander 😊
Thanks for sharing our passion and your feedback! I do miss that feature too…
The Bathyscaphe is generally my grail watch, but I'm torn between this and the hi-beat flyback chronograph.
The best you can do is to try both on your wrist and compare them 1:1 in different light conditions... then let your heart decide, it won't lie...
@@WatchAdvisor I like the movement on the Chronograph better, but overall this one I fell in love with.
It is a beautiful watch but I think the date jours desert edition is more for me 😊
Also for sure a good choice!
For an idea, not exact, of the weight on the bracelet (same bracelet for both Fifty Fathoms and Bathyscaphe) a Fifty Fathoms Ti (45mm, so bit bigger case, not sure how the movement would compare) on bracelet is 137g vs a Rolex Sub at 147g. Same wrist size for both watches, so would guess proportional weight pretty similar between the two for any size wrist.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Alexander - would you do a review of the new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 42mm? 😊😊😊
If I can get hands on one with pleasure…
What is going on with the seconds hands at around @8:57 ?
Looks like he accidentally back hacked it.
I caught that too. Looked like when he turned the crown forwards after applying back pressure, it affected the second hand's direction. Chalk it up as it being a press piece? Either way...really sharp watch. Blancpain does gray scale so well, plus I'm loving the syringe hands.
@@pilotwjf The backward ticking seconds hand has nothing to do with a press piece… a calibre without stop seconds will do this when you sensibly turn the crown counterclockwise
It's a way to hack the non hacking second.
@@rektison Yes 👍🏻
DEAR ALEXANDER,
GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND. I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU AND VERY HAPPY FOR YOU. I HOPE ALL OF YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE. I HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST AND HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE AND THE BEST AND HAPPIEST 2022 OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. I LOVE YOU. 🙏

Because there is a rubber on the underside of the strap, isn’t very sweaty in summer time?
Only if you wear it very tight and it is very hot…
👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for sharing!
This has no hacking second. I am trying to figure what is the accuracy of the warch.-+...sec/day?
Guaranteed better than COSC -4/+6 seconds…
Hi. How’s the scratch resistant compare to stainless steel on this watch? Thank you.
Titanium grade 5 is harder than steel…
@@WatchAdvisor what’s your wrist size?
17 cm / 6,7 in
@@WatchAdvisor but this is gr 23, so why you say t5?
Please is for what the 29+ were is the moon ? THANK YOU
Can you please specify?
It is 29.5 - the length of a lunar month in days
15:18 what happened to the seconds hand? It appears that you found a way to hack it
You can achieve this by very gently turning the crown anti clockwise...
Considering this watch. What size is your wrist?
17 cm / 6,7 in
Alex , A few days ago when I comunicated with you Was the first time I interacted with a true watch snob ! Considering the size of your wrist,Did you try on the Smaller Bathyscaphe? My personal range of sizes would encompass both the 38 and 43 mm! I hope you enjoy your extravagant investment! It is,of course an Amazing watch! I hope you enjoy your Happy complications! Congratulations!
@@davidcrandall4958 Did you watch the video where we present the new, small Bathyscaphe chronographs?
👍
Glad you like it! Any thoughts about the diver?
@@WatchAdvisor Fabulous watch, but it looks sad 😞 Even at 10:10..
@@Giovan_Nino What makes you think it is a „sad“ dial?
@@WatchAdvisor it’s the complication window in the lower part of the dial makes a sad face expression…
@@Giovan_Nino I hear you…
A moon phase complication on a divers watch, that’s got to be a first.
i want to know the moon phase to judge the tide of the sea if i am diving at night 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Like a Rolex submarine two tone: useless blink, but it look great :)
@@doperdr I never thought of that, good point.
Why not? Think out of the box… Not every so called “diver” must be a tool-watch… compare this to a Aston Martin/Lamborghini/Porsche SUV…
Mein Traum wäre Sie in Gelbgold.
Mit Gelbgoldband?
@@WatchAdvisor nein Kautschukband
Alles klar!
The oldest watchmaker company and maybe the best ...
True! The antidote for artificial hyped brands… 😉
Very disappointing on the calendar changes!
They are not instantaneous - yes!
The movement looks cheap and industrial looking..
What?? Have you seen a Rolex movement? That looks very cheap
@@impexRQ a rolex is much cheaper and it's not on display.
It is not a “cheap”, but a sophisticated technical look and that’s a HUGE difference…
A weird dial in my opinion...not lean nor sparkling enough to adhere to any taste... not sure what they wanted to achieve with this... definitely not convincing for me... no character at all...
Tastes are different! 😉
I thought Omega patented the Liquidmetal technologies?
Blancpain and Omega belong to the same group, the Swatch Group… technology is shared…
Nice
wish they can come with a saphire cap bezel fully lumed like the 50 fathoms
That would be cool - yes!
Nice
