Same here!! We have a small pond, walnut and apple trees..and the past few weeks, I've been super tired because they wake me off and on All Night Long. Last night, I played video sounds of owls and coyotes out the window.. I basically have given up since I know they need the food before they hibernate..it's just..hard to sleep.

The night shift... funny..yes, we have skunks too... and the racoons sound like aliens..they run across the roof and get into the walnut tree and shake branches so the nuts drop, then they have a walnut cracking party about 5 feet from my bedroom window. I haven't tried earplugs yet.

I’m not a homeowner but I do have them above me maybe inside the ceiling they found a hole on the roof . So annoying and loud every night . What can I do as a renter ? Is the landlord required to take care of this ?

My neighbor and I have live trapped and relocated over 30 Raccoons over two Springs and Summers with only occasionally setting the traps. Once I actually caught three young Raccoons in the trap at the same time, can’t explain it. It got old very quickly. It doesn’t seem that we have put a dent in this problem. We live in the city limits with a population of about 30,000, have must be Raccoons. It doesn’t seem possible. By the way, I use marshmallows for bait. One last thing, we I released them they go lickety split into the tree line. Only one came out of the cage and came towards me in a non-threatening way. It was young and appeared sickly. All of the others looked like they were never pushed away from the dinner table, healthy.

I didn't mind the possums I had for a couple of years in the new home. I even left some cat food at night for him and everything was fine. If i came out he ran away and barely saw him. Here comes the racoon. Wants to come into the cat door and not afraid and combative. Sighhhhh. So annoying lol. Going to try the spray stuff and see if I can get him to leave.

Don’t know what to do!😞

I don't think they are pests. I live next to a large state forest. I get all the night life, opossums, foxes, bobcats, deer, skunks, a coyote and the raccoons. I don't have confrontation problems, but I do have dogs, they are a great deterrent. Raccoons are highly social and intelligent creatures. I have camera footage from a small family of them. They seem to be quite peaceful creatures. I do believe they are quite misunderstood.
I am glad you are teaching people how to be humane to them. The only time I have seen one of these coons growl or get aggressive is when they were cornered and scared or a female raccoon protecting her young. From what I understand, if you have food, shelter, and water they will come. This includes birdseed people leave out for the wild birds. When feeding the wildlife, the animals you want around, you will attract all the others as well. I hope people realize that raccoons don't understand fence lines, property lines and no trespassing signs. Educate yourself, I know where I live there is an increase in raccoons and the other small creatures of the night; due to their habitat being removed.
