Friends we made a slight slip of the tongue when saying the Filters are 24dB. They are 6dB High / 12 dB Low as you would expect. Our bad...
Wow, I've heard that and probably my brain did filtered it with it's 24dB slope :D
Two filter types switch is a really thoughtful idea, nice one
Better connectors than the MS-20mini, cool
"Guys"... cmon Behringer, girls music too.
@@micaevski "Guys" is no longer a gendered term in modern parlance.
At one point in time we were all skeptical of beheringer, but now they are gathering synth infinity stones
Right? Like I looked at all these clones and kinda laughed at them because it was Behringer and their stuff is always cheap and bad. Low and behold a friend gets a Behringer model D, and sends me a track and raves about how fat that thing is. So I decided to cave and actually have a look at it and after hearing it sound exactly like my mother32 but with three voices, i decided to look at behringer’s other synths, and now, next month, I’m buying this one. The MS-20 is like one of the sounds of my childhood (I’m a child of the mid 90’ to mid 00’s.) even though it was made in 1971, it wasn’t popular until around the time I was born and beyond.
James Corcoran for real brother. I just got the Neutron, it’s even cheaper for some reason now! Was thinking of a used Future Retro which was nice but even used still 3x the price. Thinking about Model D. And this too... I kind of always liked the ms-20 but pricey, but if this gets down to current Neutron levels, why not. I am very happy for Behringer for showing the truth.... that 30+ year old technology in this day and age should be able to be done cheaply! I just got a dfam and it’s cool... have sub 37 too. But honestly it’s overpriced. Just like American vs overseas made guitars... many, many times the overseas versions are as good or even better quality than American made (cough, Gibson), at a fifth the price or less.
EDub Bro I love my DFAM. But a lot of Moogs stuff is way overpriced (Moog one? Seriously?). I like how Behringer is bringing synths from a market previously only populated by old people, rich people, or collectors to a market that includes the average musician.
@@Jimbo386000 Cool, you have one too! :) Yeah that One is ridiculous. I listened to a demo just the other day, and I actually wasn't swayed at all. I have so many patches on my VSTs and my Korg that can sound the same in the mix. I am all or Behringer too. (now just don't let it fall apart on me... lol... I kid, I kid... sort of! :0)
EDub bro I just got a neutron like 3 days ago and sold my mother 32. Best decision I think I’ve ever made. Not that the mother is bad, but for my style of playing, it’s just kinda lacking in features and sound. And since I use my computer like 90% of the time, the sequencer was just a bonus but not essential. But the neutron, even only having it three days, is like my new baby. Hahaha and it feels solid too! Which is honestly a super pleasant surprise as my previous Behringer equipment has been well... less than ideal. Hahahah
I'm slowly but surely becoming a Behringer fan. These guys are doing some amazing things lately.
For real..And not insanely priced either
When the "simple starting tone" already has character, you know you have a winner.
ADHD Synth absolutely , you nailed it with that comment
SOLD!!!! Excellent Job... The Behringer team is on fire 🔥...
I bought one a couple of hours before this video came out. Started thinking a bit about it, but I didn't have to think for too long! Keep doing this, Behringer.
This is a really beautiful piece of gear. I love the CV options and take off points! Nicely done, Behringer! I recently got a DM12, added a Behringer UMC404HD to clean up some of the spaghetti, and am now a Behringer believer. The K-2 is going on my holiday wish-list, now! Thanks!
This demonstration was simply beautiful... I can't wait until it's delivered, thank you Behringer... thank you...
Don´t regret preordering this.....getting it soon Thomann states! And thank you Behringer for making life more fun!
One day I will own one. Looks great, the form factor is just right and it sounds awesome. :) Becoming huge Behringer fan.
My father had a original MS20 and I learnd a lot from that beast, this version of Behringer brings al lot of memories. For sure this one ends up in my studio. Great job!
As much as I love everything you put out nowadays, I hope you don't forget us pro audio guys. All these synth releases make us a little envious.
Looks and sounds nice. I’m really looking forward to your Jupiter 8 clone.
Finally we can hear the K-2 and it sounds nice !
Pre-Ordered. Thanks again Behringer!🙏❤
was waiting for this demo, ordered as soon as video finished :D
holy crap behringer killing it again! cant wait to order one!
That sounds awesome, thanks Behringer for bringing those mythic sounds to the rest of us !
Sounds just as I remembered it. Great job!
Sounds immense 😮 mine should be here in a week or two 🤗.... can’t wait. Thank You Behringer ❤️
Thanks Jason. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did :)
Never thought I would at one point in my life desire so much of what Behringer is building at this moment.. Sound more ms20 ish than the ms 20 mini.
Look at video comparison of ms 20, ms 20 mini and k 2 you will hear that mini is actually closer k2 sounds thiner and filter is diffrent korg almost nailed it
I like the sound of this more than the MS-20 mini demos I’ve heard... it’s beautiful.
Check your ears
@@MrXamanX lol antonio...
damn , you guys killing it !
Was never really interested in the MS-20 sound, but I am now.
Anton Lindquist literally same
Same, thought it was only for squelchy bleepy nonsense, but even the arp jam at the beginning was way more musical than I expected. Hope someone makes a red faceplate for the K2 so it can match my Neutron!
Interesting. So you suddenly got it or what.. this is MS-20, as is Korg MS-20 mini. What changed it for you
Me: At the supermarket, walking along, "Oh, an intro video for the K-2, let's have a looksee..."
Supermarket PA: "CLEAN UP ON AISLE 15!!"
I don't wanna know what you did to that poor little K-2 :(
;)
nym053 i think you didnt get the joke lol
@@LaidbackSounds Well, I did take it as being a joke though. Maybe the wrong one, I don't know. If so, then I don't know the reference no ;)
Why dont you guys just start a synth of the month club, for a $1500 yearly buy in?
loren morgan that's quite a genius idea.. something like that would get investment up front and a wealth of loyal beta testers
easiest 1500 id ever part with
that is a great idea
That's probably coming after 2025
I’d save up for that.
Just bought the Model D the other day and now you come up with this! Daamn... here we go again
Holy filtersweep, you nailed it again. Hats off for Behringer's journey on the cool scale…
Behringer doing what Roland should be doing, nice
I believe in everything you guys do.
I most certainly appreciate that this one hasn't been endlessly teased. When you announce something, make sure it's in stores within a month or so. Especially _before_ Xmas.
Yep, still 150 bucks laying around for the Crave, for 9 months already.
Beautiful sounds.
Wow, soooo good! I love this one, you guys did an amazing job :) I just sold my MS-20mini after getting an original MS-20 rev2 but now I think I'll get the K2 to compliment it. I'm going for the whole set of Behringer synths!
Can I ask why you sold the mini?
@@Modjazzbeatbcn I purchased my MS20 mini second-hand and the keys were yellowed and uneven. It was my first MS20, so I didn't mind the faults at the time. When I got a vintage MS20, I sold the mini to fund more gear. I'd go for the K-2 because it has both filters and is within my budget. Besides all of the that, the MS20 mini is fantastic, although the MS20 Module kit is better for its extra functionality and switchable filters.
Yeah, this one sounds great and at that price I’m impressed. I’m gonna have to buy this one.
i've always beleived in behringer, started Djing with your DJ mixers, was never dissapointed and always made it available to the financially less fortunate, i have to say you are absolutely killing it, you really do care about your customer base and have the future in mind, instead of cheap fast cash grabs like other legacy synth companies, please don't stop, every company, not just instrument companies should be taking . a leaf out of your book,
Received my RD-8 yesterday, absolute quality and fire! Count me in for the other upcoming synths guys! Gonna make some review videos on my channel too! Big ups!
Sick....sounds amazing!
Looks and sounds incredible 👏 can’t wait for mine to arrive!! Hopefully end of next week apparently!!! Very nice patches and demo
Thanks PatchMonger, appreciate that :). Looking forward to see what your creative skills will do with this one!
BEHRINGER hehe yeah I cannot wait!!! Never had a ms20 (only vst) so really excited. Hope all goes well and you get the synths shipped soon guys. You are rocking it!!!
@@behringer Hi guys, I got it a couple of weeks ago and really really love it!! I have created a little tune in my channel, head over to it if you fancy. Thank you!!
Already pre ordered mine a few days ago, cant wait!

Hats off to you Behringer for making all these new wonderful synths. Take my money 💰
Not really new, just clones. It's nice that they do it but I'd much rather see something new from them.
@@SyntheticFuture I know it's a clone. But new in the sense that they make them new 🙂
ThaTyger They have the crave and the neutron, but people have been asking for clones/re-issues before major companies even stepped up to the plate, so behringer seems to be willing to take em’ all on! Don’t know why they did this given korg had the mini out but it is half the price and people want it.
I guess. But I don't get the appeal really. I feel like people too often judge the value of an instrument by the artist that uses it (Daft Punk used a Ms-20 so I want one because I want to be like Daft Punk(or something along those lines) ). To me many of the recreations (and this might be an exception because it has a patch bay) are just limited synths playing on people's feelings of nostalgia. The 2 oscillator 1 filter synth has been done to death. And back in the "Moog" days you could say "yes but the Moog has premium components and a unique ladder design" but that no longer stands. I feel like the market is stalling because people want these synths that can be emulated to 99% accuracy of any modern synth =s Where those modern synths lack the "nostalgia" they often offer a much more flexible engine. The Neutron is a great example. I love that thing. It does the classic 2 osc 1 filter but with oscillators that can transition between waveshapes and a patchbay that allows it to be used in conjunction with other patchbay synths. More of that! How about a 6 voice Neutron? Add a Model D inspired filter and a Ms-20 inspired filter and you have something new that can be at least 4 synths instead of just an emulation of 1 synth =l Sounds very marketable as well... One box to pretty much have a MS-20, Model D, Neutron and a Juno 106 but with a patchbay to go way out of that realm. I guess I'll wait for ASM to start doing things like that because they do seem to get it.
Oh let's not forget the Deepmind. That's definitely a step in the right direction.
You guys @Behringer done everything right. Tell you the truth: I will buy your synth´s instead of other companies. Thank you so much!!!!!
You'll buy their synths because they're the ones you can afford.
It's a great demonstration, I love the texture sound, need bought one of this... 🔥🔥🔥
Man, the teeth on this synth is incredible! Tons of character!
Behringer is going the opposite way of Roland: *GIVING US WHAT WE WANT.*
That easy-to-grasp concept seems to whoosh over Roland's head year after year. God bless Behringer. Long health to Uli and the crew.
All I have say - Thank you Uli for your Passion !
Who is "Uli" please??
you guys are killing it. keep it up! and ty
Sounds amazing! You guys did it again :):):):)
i own ms20 mini, well this beats it. And looks fantastic.
Apsolutly fucking not
!!! I can see myself getting Crave for sequencing and additional VCO, VCF and LFO and then just build a full rack of Behringer clones.
The K2 sounds just insanely good.
big respect for your company!
You nailed it once again with this one!
I had no idea I wanted this
lol my feelings exactly
Wow! I need one in my life!
Love the sounds you get.
You had me at 5:04. That lower GI shaking filter that all the best synths have!
Pls make a version of the space echo
Amen
calibomber209 good idea
Yes!!!
Boss space echo RE20 I think it’s called is fantastic.
grant jonsn I’ve had one a long time nails it
I have so much respect for what you’re all doing at Behrinher, you’re doing the work other huge synth companies are too fastidious to do. I am holding hope for a LinnDrum and Cs80 from you, but yeah, I’ll be buying this too, it’s absolutely incredible sounding! P.S I hope it comes with those quilted patch cables! (Girls and synths, what can I say)
Thanks MeMe we really appreciate it :)
I love it. Hope it'll stay in production long enough for me to get one.
I bought the Korg Ms-20 mini in release back in 2013 and used in few tracks and jam sessions and i must say this sounds pretty solid !!! Well Done Behringer !! i cant wait for you guys start to develop your original instruments and synths to eletronic musicians , and please do dream come true of every bedroom producer make a Yamaha CS-80 clone around 1000$ !!!! you guys gonna blow the market !!!
I have spent years curbing my GAS. Thanks for the relapse...
S. Rock hahahahaa. Gold
right there with you..... after all I remember the oath I took with the last piece of gear.."dear (so and so) I solemnly swear to purchase no more gear. I will not buy any more synths, guitars, basses, mixers, VSTs or other musical toys, till I die." (immediately after seeing several of the recent pieces, by behringer and Moog.....I am trying to remember if I pinky swore or maybe even had my fingers cross annulling the entire promissory statement.)
The sound at 7:43 is amazing, it sounds just like Jon Hopkins :0 incredible new synth from Behringer, I just wonder if I can justify getting this after I just purchased the Neutron.
My Neutron is arriving in 2 days and I am watching K-2 videos... Same story, 4 years later.
Wow! good synth and good démo!!! the sound is fabulooooous! Very nice!!! Bravo!!!
Fantastic job, Uli! 😉❤️
I bet he is playing the daft punk melody wrong to avoid copyright strike, sounds like the real thing:D
Indeed ;)
That´s not from Daft Punk. That´s from Paft Dunk

Please stop this I've only just bought the RD8. Maybe I should get a monthly standing order to Behringer.
Yeah Behringer can we open a tab?

I am so glad I waited...already own the Neutron and Model D...K2 is next.
@@urbannpa I almost bought that korg mini many times... also glad I waited.
A Behringer subscription loot box perhaps?
Great job on the filter scream and drive
I was going through sweetwater’s synth section (as i do regularly) and this puppy popped up. I was like “whoa, new Behringer synth?” And I’m blown away. This and the odyssey look unbelievable.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Damn it really does sound just like it
Ears: Sounds good man!
Wallet: Feels bad man..
It's around $330 in the U.S. Precisely how much were you expecting to pay for a full synthesizer in hardware?
@@SPAZZOID100 I have a job...? No matter how much money you make you'll always have expenses competing for your attention.
@@vileguile4 Yeah really. It feels strange how people in the synth community seem to pretend everybody has enough disposable income that purchases like these are pocket change. I don't get it. Music is and has always been an expensive hobby/pursuit, even if it's more accessible and cheap than ever. I'm here with a few Volcas and my crown jewel synth is a Minilogue, which is still considered a relatively "budget" synth.
It took me 3 years to get my current setup. That would also include my laptop, Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 interface, Boss PH-3 pedal (used for $54), Arturia Keystep (also used), a cool mono speaker I found at goodwill for $12 (called the Tivoli Audio Model One), Behringer Xenyx 1202FX mixer (and yet another used piece) to get all outputs into my one speaker, or my audio interface/Zoom H1 to record. All that and I still haven't pushed past what a lot of people would call the "essentials" of a synth setup.
I don't even use proper racks or stands because they generally are costly; My Minilogue is behind my Keystep on a bunch of books and CDs to angle it slightly and level it above my Keystep and make both playable, and two of my Volcas are in a $5 wooden box I found at Michael's, the top half leaning against a cheapo mobile VR headset my dad got me to pretend it's an adjustable rack (with 2 settings: 165° and 180°, lol).
I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong. I LOVE my setup. But we shouldn't pretend $300 is "cheap" for everybody. For a lot of people (like me), thinking about getting a $750 groovebox like an Elektron Digitakt is an absurdly large investment and won't even be considered. Thank god we have the Novation Circuit.
@@davidjones3384 You misunderstood me. It was not that the price was high. It's the other way around. It's such a good price for what you get it's hard to resist. Now, if it was just one synth like that on the market but it isn't. After a couple wallet starts to hurt.
@@vileguile4 $300 is making coffee at home for a few months. But yeah it all adds up.
Oh man... gonna have so much fun with this one
OMG! I was almost m*****ting to the Korg pamphlet with these synths in it in the 80's. Stunning front panel!
I love what Behringer is doing. I tend to not buy any synth that doesn't have patch memory though. Can't wait for the UB-Xa and BS-80
Robbinsffxi these synths are so affordable that it would absolutely be worth the added cost if they had patch memory. Hopefully they start adding that to future products.
@sbmphr
Me too a patch memory guy...but maybe this one could be worth it anyway. :-)
BS-80 nice.
The advantage of not being able to program an analogue synth is that the potentiometers control the sound directly, so there is no stepping.
Damn i already have a DM6 and DM12. I want a Behr odyssey.
Now you have me jonesing for this.
Damn
It sounds reeeeeeally good ! impressive
It sounds pretty nice! I like the filter.
Sounds more MS20 than my MS20 mini. Damn, now I feel confused.
Yeah Uli is not playing fair. He is playing very well and keeping a great price so we all can play too....but not playing fair, haha.
I remember the old korgs in the late 70s, early 80s. They were cool for their noisyness. But not very stable. Still i loved the look and the semi modularity.
Moog was awesome but expensive. Korg let you in on a lower budget.
Now Behringer is really leveling the field.
Man when they bring their cs80 clone, i am a goner, lol.
Deepminds, odyssey, k-2. Sheesh i should just sell myself to Behringer and be done with it.
Yeah, it plus the mini is way more noisy than this... Guess we'll have to reinvest into this.
simple, ms20 mini is not a ms20
I own a Ms20 for around 15 years.. and can´t agree more.. it has that low bass and kinda "acid" tone but still being clean and mellow when pushing the resonance.. the mini sounds a bit more noisy and little crispy to my ears (not necessarelly bad).
@@xamstradx Yep. I totally agree with what you wrote above. You can immediately recognize Mr Oizo's Flat Beat filter sweep sound and Da Funk in the video. My MS20 mini is a great instrument but it sounds different.
Amazing! :-) I need a second mortgage now to buy all Behringers gear! pmsl....
Never got around to getting a MS-20, this is perfect, sounds great, sold.
Time to make a monthly subscription for catch all the Behringer Stuff! Uliiiiiii
I wanted to get an MS-20 Mini back when i was getting my first monosynth... got a Microbrute instead. Maybe now I can get both..!
Please tell me you fixed the 'volts/oct. - hz/volt' thing, though..!
Just came to say three words:
I
Want
It.
Sounds beautiful!!!!
Im definietly going to get this one, if i get my first paycheck as a nurse! That thing is so damn cool, that im willing to pay half of my salary for this baby! And thanks for the awesome Demo, Behringer! ;)
Filter 1 screams. Filter 2 a bit more subdued but overall this thing sounds amazing. Out of nowhere Behringer is bringing the best of classics back to us (ANALOG not digital) and making them affordable. Can’t wait to get my hands on that RD9 and when they do that Synthi one day (oh I hope!!!)
I think it is time for Behringer to make a keybed for all these modules to fit into. Something along the lines of the Keystep. It would be handy.
Nah, Keystep Pro LE + K2 = perfection
@@Synthfidel Is there actually a Keystep Pro now?
Mikeureko just hoping. I have the black LE, and Beatstep Pro LE.
@@Synthfidel The worst thing about the keystep is not knowing what the tempo is. I have to have something clock it to use it. They should have put the little screen on it like on the BSP.
Looks and sounds fantastic.
Behringer is just killin' it right now. A++
9:24 is Roobarb & Custard
Behringer. You guys are killing it. I need an fm synth please fix this soon.
You had me at carefully matched ... JFETs!
Lovely work Behringer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a JUNO 106 clone at some point in the coming years.
OMG my wallet keeps getting lighter! Thanks Behringer!
Behringer is going Amazon beast mode now. Unstoppable.
But they just sound too good.
Wtf you just keep putting out incredible synths
Sounds really great...!
The Model D, the Neutron, now the K-2 and soon the Pro-1.... Behringer needs to make a Eurorack case so I can fit all of their amazing synths in one case and use one power outlet instead 4 (eventually 10 if they keep this up! Lol)
i was going to say the exact thing, but I'm also thinking about a 3 or 4 tier stand like Moog do for the Mother 32, now that'll look so nice (",)
You've already done one better than Korg by actually matching the transistors. As much as I love Korg they they really made some odd choices when building it.
Release some new videos man!
vinyljunkie we love you! come back :)
There are exact SMD equivalents of all the original Japanese semiconductors (just different package) - this includes the 2SC1685, 2SC1583, 2SK30A etc.. . If you're an engineer and know what you're doing it takes about 15 seconds to do a parametric search to identify the parts.
@@bcastromusic Yes exactly, I wasn't disputing that. In fact I have the schematic for the mini, kit and original MS-20's and the mini is almost identical to the original. Also the parts quality is superb, Japanese ELNA capacitors and ALPS pots but the overall construction is weird i.e. not nutting the pots, fake plastic nuts for the mini jacks etc I can live with most of that but my main gripe is the transistor matching which mind blowingly they didn't do!
The input signal level in the Korg35 Mk1 filter block is about 8mV (hence its higher background noise levels compared with the OTA-based Mk2 featuring LM13700), and is reputed to have poor CV bleed-through.
This in conjunction with the fact that the Mk1 transistors need to be matched for optimum performance makes me think that the level of this matching could well be the reason for the large 'DC thump' variation between units.
Basically, two of the transistors are used as variable resistors by operating them in 'reverse' saturation mode',
