    Today is the second day you haven't said "is the day" just as the episode started. I panicked because I'm used to you say it immediately as it starts. But you eventually say it and then everything is ok and the world isn't gonna blow up anymore. Its great to see you work on the Leviathan. Its a privilege to see you work.

      The saying is,"Today is the day!" I never specify WHAT kind of day it is going to be💥 It seems that the likelihood of the world blowing up gets closer and closer every day . . . If everyone could just find a friend on UA-cam! Thanks for watching.

      Progress has been a bit slow lately, but finishing up a remodel /addition, so should be getting back on both vehicles now. Make sure and subscribe, we are almost to the magical 100K mark, need that little push. ;)

    For all the amazing build projects on UA-cam the likes of project binky, stance-works Ferrari etc. quietly this leviathan build is actually utterly insane. Brilliant stuff. I want one and he hasn’t made it yet.

    The second radiator might not be needed if the oil cooler size is increased and the transmission cooling is kept separate from the engine cooling.
    Also I would ditch the power steering cooler for a much better one. The old transmission cooler would work if it can handle the same pressure and it can get air flow.
    However to increase cooling capacity and aid bleeding I would put a large expansion tank between the circuit of the two radiators.
    Also you will want to duct out the hot air away from the cabin as cab overs can become ovens without adequate ventilation under the floor.

    • @BuilderCreator
      @BuilderCreator  Рік тому +2

      Yep, the power steering cooler is gone, and a new one is in the works. Air flow past the engine is wide open now, as there is no longer a firewall there. Air can flow freely out and under the cabin.

    Radiator fins: "Am I a joke to you?"

    • @savoryflan
      @savoryflan 11 місяців тому

      I cringe every time I see damaged fins. It's so easy to tape some cardboard to the front and back of the radiator to protect the fins during handling.

  • @patchmack4469

    i've always wondered about radiators, if they go on area or volume, so suppose you have a radiator that's two foot wide by 1 foot deep, could you double that up, as in twice the thickness, triple core as you have, i guess as long as you have what was originally required for the engine and have extra, its all a bonus, anything less will just cook the engine and boil your oil away, seen that, been there, done that
    the beast is coming on nicely - soon be climbing mountains

    • @BuilderCreator
      @BuilderCreator  11 місяців тому +2

      Area and volume are both important. If the volume is too small, it will cause restriction and not allow enough coolant to circulate out of the engine. If you get enough volume, then surface area needs to match. Frontal area can be reduced by increasing the number of cores, but that might become limiting to air flow if you had a stack of cores that was too dense. Thanks for following the build(s).

    nice to have you back!.
    any reason you don't just 180 out of the 'back' radiator and into the front on the same side? then you could go out on the correct side of the front one strait around the rear one into the engine?

    • @BuilderCreator
      @BuilderCreator  Рік тому

      Thermocline! Hotter coolant needs to come in at the top and as it cools it drops down to the bottom exit. and repeat into the second radiator. I could have cut off the input and output tubes and re-welded them to face in a more conducive direction, but if I ever had problems, I would have to do the hack and weld all over again. This way I can just order another radiator. And, since it was a sponsored video, the supplier might not have liked the hack and weld job either. Ha!

      @@BuilderCreator fair enough, hard to tell there is a 'top' and 'bottom' to the front one in those shots!

    Great project! Which aluminium alloys are used and how do you manage the lack of heat treatment post welding?

    • @BuilderCreator
      @BuilderCreator  Рік тому +1

      Lots of aluminum in this project; lots of different alloys. Nothing is engineered to be critical enough to need heat treatment. It just has to float, not fly. Strength through mass.

    Is the fan going to see water? Electric fans can blow to piece or burn up from water crossings. True overlanding where you may have water crossing I only use clutch type fans.

    • @BuilderCreator
      @BuilderCreator  Рік тому

      Fan will be over 3 foot out of the water, but will also be operable from inside the cab. In amphibious mode, the engine will be shut down, but it will still be needed for entry and exit; hence the cab control.

    • @kz6fittycent
      @kz6fittycent Рік тому

      It appears as though one is running XP, but this is not uncommon with some systems running CAD software (older). If he's following good practices, he's air-gapped it or applied some logical controls to keep it segregated.

    • @BuilderCreator
      @BuilderCreator  Рік тому

      "Was" using Windows XP. Just upgraded to a subscription of AutoCAD lite/Fusion 360, as I have weened myself away from architectural work. The old software was called Architectural Desktop that I had been using since 2006. I never made the $5500 upgrade to keep ADtop current. Now that I am focused on mechanical engineering, the old dog is dead and a cheetah has taken its place . . a new machine, Windows 11 and a suite of CAD CAM software. All unsafely connected to the internet. Ha!

    Radiator...... What is a radiator anyhow? In internal combustion engines it's used to cool the engine. It doesn't radiate heat 🤔. Heat exchanger. Sorry.... nevermind.
