- Watch how I make a custom air suspension controller mount for a VW T5 Transporter
This video shows the steps involved in fabricating a controller mount into a dashboard trim/ fascia. If you've been wanting to give custom fabrication a try, hopefully, this video has given you some insight into the process for you to apply to your own project. All the tools and materials used in this video are listed below. The process shown can be applied to any plastic-to-plastic fabrication. The best advice I can give you is to have patience, work meticulously and ultimately have fun creating.
Thank you for watching.

Man you deserve respect. Lots of hard work and patience. You deserve. your hands are made to bring quality.
I very rarely comment on UA-cam videos, but after coming across your work on Instagram I couldn’t help myself. Your workmanship and attention to detail is unreal! Great work!
Thanks Dylan, I appreciate the support! 😁
I think I saw something very overwhalming. it's about workmanship, respect for a job. I really love your content 🥰
Absolutely stunning work
My respect. *Its amazing*

Nice work, good to see hand made craftmanship is alive and well in Staffordshire
Thanks 👍
все ваши работы выглядят как произведение искусства!
That was just amazing, wow.
Thanks Bunty!

Beautiful work mate... Sub'd
Thank you and thanks for the sub!
Great skills Reece would you share what Rattle can product was used for the satin black finish as it has a great OEM look to it
просто офигеть
😀
Putty will crack underneath the paint, should have used UV resin/2 comp. But beautiful, a work of art.
Thanks! I’ve made these for the past 10 years and never had any crack at the joints. It’s down to the prep work, properly V’ing the joint and correct adhesive choice for the application. The first filler I use is a two part filler that’s specifically designed for plastic applications, as it is semi-rigid so it’s able to flex slightly and doesn’t crack with temperature changes inside a vehicle. This is UPol plast-x 6, although nowadays I use HB Body F222 which is a very similar product. The second filler is a fine filler for addressing pinholes. It’s another two part filler that isn’t flexible, but is applied with minimal thickness so it has no structure to it for it to crack. Those fillers are specially for the automotive trade and are designed to be used for plastic bumper repairs, which is essentially the same process as creating these custom parts.
Your channel is amazing. What is the Black stock material you use and its thickness?
put more videos to gain the subsribers . im a big fan . i follow you on insta. great work
Thanks, appreciate your support! More videos to come on a regular basis!
Hi amazing work, this type of content is more like of a time lapse start to finish thing. I was gonna ask if you ever gonna make more in-depth educational videos. like while going through each step explaining as well.
not everyone is familiar with designing and producing, so it would also be a great opportunity for you to expand your audience and insightful to others.
Thanks for watching Hamed! Yeah I’ve had quite a lot of people ask the same question as they’d like to learn about the techniques and materials used. I have planned on doing some informative videos around the subject of moulding. I have a project I’m currently working on that includes another mould so I’ll be talking more about the process in that video. Thanks again!
we are waiting step by step education :)
This really looks amazing but all the work you put in must make this piece very expensive doesn’t it?
Hi, I'd be interested in knowing the procedures for making the mold, all the phases you made in a video where you can see how you make the mold in two parts?
I subbed
Thanks Alex appreciate it!
What is that superglue-like material you're using, which you then proceed to spray with something immediately after? That would help immensely in my personal manufacturing. Incredible work, by the way. Love it.
Edit: It would be nice if in the corner of the video, you could just post what material you're using at that moment. I know you have a list in the description, but it would be more helpful for us to see which is which.
It’s normal superglue and the spray is superglue accelerator.
Thanks for watching Travis! Gus is right, it’s a super glue with an accelerator/ activator. It’s commonly called CA glue, mitre mate or mitre bond and can be picked up from most hardware stores with the activator included. There are some more specialist versions that are different viscosities for different tasks. If you do a Google search for BSI Insta-cure, they do a range which includes water thin, thin, regular, thick and gap filling.
I’ll definitely look at your suggestion of adding the materials as cards that appear referring to the material I’m using at the time. I am looking at putting together some videos where I explain a project I’m working on, including details of the materials I’m using, explanations of its uses/ benefits and why I use those over alternatives. Let me know if that sounds like something you’d be interested in seeing, I’m trying to gauge some feedback at the moment! Thanks again for watching!
@@RTAFabrication "...where I explain a project I’m working on, including details of the materials I’m using, explanations of its uses/ benefits and why" - this would be so good and helpful!
this channel should take +100M SUSCR ......THANKS
Thanks Aslan, really appreciate that! 👊🏻
What kind of paint did you use to finish that? I assume it's something that sticks to plastic well and won't scratch easily?
Nice work...what is the black 2 part filler you used at first?
Thanks Jon. That’s a project from U-Pol called Plast X 6, although I now use a similar and in my opinion better product from HB Body called Bumpersoft F222. It’s still a polyester body filler but its specific application is plastics. It’s a polyester filler that has some flex which is why I use it on these trims because with the dramatic changes in temperature in a vehicle, it will not crack with the expansion or contraction of the plastic trim. Thanks for watching
what's the name of this music??'
What is the adhesive/spray that you were using?
Thanks for watching Justin! The glue and spray combination is a cyanoacrylate adhesive with an activator spray. It’s basically (or actually is) superglue. It’s commonly referred to as mitre mate or mitre bond as well. You can also get different viscosities, there’s one that’s like water, thin, regular, thick and gap filling. The different viscosities are from a more specialist range, but an every day one from a hardware store will be like a regular super glue. Hope that helps!
what do you use to cure super glu?
The super glue is a glue that comes with an activator spray. It’s technically a cyanoacrylate adhesive with activator spray. It’s commonly called CA glue, mitre mate or mitre bond and can be picked up at most hardware stores. You can get specialist versions of different viscosities, water thin, thin, regular, thick and gap filling. If you search for BSI Insta-cure you can see their range of different viscosities.
Stop the video at 5:00 and tell yourself: At least he tried. Then close UA-cam.
Joke🤣. The result is great!
Haha 😂 thanks for watching man 👊🏻
