thank you, im 57 and that inspries me that you are moving forward, and yes, letting go and wrking on these defects helped me also, i gave them to God and they pop us, but i notice them and try and fix when they do, but get less and less
11 mins in and still mainly war stories, where I need and want the spirituality in the program and of step 6 on a somewhat higher level. Have been to meetings and working w sponsors for 20 years without being guided through my 12 steps. I react against him claiming it is simple/easy. That depends on who one is, what issues and illness(es) one has individually, what the life-situation, social network etc are like. Sponsors mostly seem to not want to work as hard and according to the Big Book as needed for a real spiritual awakening. I feel deeply sad and frustrated at having spent all this time and energy without even getting through, while getting more distance from family and friends that I haven't had energy + time to cultivate much. Apart from not getting the response and support I needed. Thank you Mr for mixing in useful words. Glad you recovered.
At the next meeting voice what you need and that you need someone to take you through the steps. You don’t need a sponsor that has “what you want “. You need someone to take you through the steps. If you have issues with step 5 then admit those things to someone who you’ll never see again. You have to drop pride and ask for help. And then accept it when someone says they will help you.

Look for the similarities and ignore the differences. The similarities will make you feel "Part Of" I have been sober for a long time and I have yet to listen to or attend a meeting where I didn't find something to grasp on to coming from the individual that my God sent to teach me. 99 year old grandmothers who speak have the same disease as I. Similarties will save you. Looking for differences is a common alcoholic defect.
