The woman at the end was very educational too. I could listen to people like her and your dad talk about the land all day! Recording the elders and passing on their knowledge is so important. Pulio y su esposa son muy buenas personas. Esta es la segunda vez que los visito en dos años. Iba ir otra vez el mes que viene pero tuve que cancelar ese viaje por la pandemia. Pero algun dia pronto regreso.

There were bigger machetes, but mine was just right. I used it and can see why people use even bigger machetes, to cut bigger swaths. Saludos.

He could get some cuttings for his farm there! That farm, though overgrown, still produces lots.

Robert, you are correct. The next farmer to own it will have some great land to work in. So many things grow there. When my grandfather was alive he grew many things to sell in the plaza. I didn't see coffee there this time but I know it grows well there because when I was a kid my grandfather grew that too. And it was great. Hayden would do great here. He has so much more experience that I in these farm things. Maybe I can bring him over some day to explore.

Good question, but I don't know what anyone pays in taxes there. I may have to ask my aunt next time. But it is definitely lower than anything in the states.

Hey Ovi, why don’t the farmers use goats to maintain the brush? I watch a lot of homesteading (somewhere in the States) videos where they use this technique. I’m certain there’s a logical reason they don’t. Please share.
Not sure. I believe goats prefer grass but here we have everything else that grows under the sun. Good research topic.

Ovi Duran : Thanks Ovi for the response. yeah I usually go to visit Peru ( Lima ) every year with my wife. I'd love to come to visit you guys down there in Puerto Rico. I live in Florida and the flights from here are cheap. last I checked it was like $149 round trip from here. And I believe Hayden said you were coming back down to Puerto Rico in January ? And if you're ever in Florida we can give you the hook up on cheap 4 - 5 star hotel prices because we are both in hospitality. My wife does it all the time when her friends and family come up from Peru. Let me know if you're flying down to P.R. in January. We would love to visit and explore the beautiful Island.

No, he was buried in the town cemetery very close to downtown San Sebastian.
