I've always wanted to see what Santa Monica looked like beyond just the pier, so I am really glad you did a walking tour here! The downtown area looks quite nice!
I need to go to Santa Monica again! Not gonna lie, one of my favorite memories is watching sunset while eating at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and then taking night photography of the pier all lit up.
I really liked walking Third Street Promenade when I visited Santa Monica in summer 2019. It's unique with the fun dinosaurs. There have been some nice stores to shop at. On my stroll I found a farmers market and I remember getting the best organic fresh orange jice I've ever had.
Fun (?) fact: the fancy shmancy Shore Hotel is built on the grave of two hotels, the Travelodge and the Pacific Sands hotel, the latter of which was the bedbug capital of Santa Monica when it existed. And another interesting tidbit: the developer of that hotel build project was fined in 2019 for replacing the two only low-cost motel options in SM with a giant luxury hotel without a permit. The permit was given based on building another affordable option, which they had let lapse and built the shmancy hotel you see in this vid. I moved away from SM a few years ago to take care of my parents in their twilight years, but I miss it every day. It was my home for nearly 20 years. Thanks for the video!
Fantastic videos Chris. Really enjoy them and will certainly help when I can eventually visit from the UK. Always fun and enjoyable, so please keep them coming.
The blue of the sky in California is nicer than here in Indiana. When I was in Australia it was even more awesome and was visual overload for lack of a better term. That is why I say California is always awesome no matter what people say from non California locations.
@@YellowProductions Today I visited the Third Street promenade. As I have watched your video, it was very easy to find the place and visit all the shops. Thank you once again for your useful video guide.
Would you recommend staying at Santa Monica area or nearby universal Hollywood if only going to universal Hollywood for a day and another day Hollywood hall of frame /little Tokyo etc ? Prior we would stay at Disney resort.
Hi Chris. Great walking video of Santa Monica Downtown. Wonderful place to spend the day. Gyukaku is a fabulous BBQ place . Two thumbs up for the gyutan. That is some good eats. Almost forgot. I thinks the white dinosaur wins the chess match. LOL. Thanks again and take care..
I grew up near Santa Monica. I don’t think you research the area well. The 3rd Street Prominade has been closed to traffic for a very long time. This was not a recent occurrence.
Maybe they are getting ahead of the potential food shortage so allowing people to sell fruits on the street. I haven't gone to santa monica in a long time, it feels like such a drive from where we live.
The City of Los Angeles has an abundance of History and buildings along with tunnels from the prohibition era. Someone that is not from the LA area maybe shouldn’t give advice about the History of our fine City.
I don't know where you got the idea that the promenade has only recently been a pedestrian area. When I lived in Santa Monica 30 years ago, nobody could remember it ever being open to vehicles.
Try to expand your food ideas You must be married to an Asian woman because you go on and on about Asian food. Many people don't like Asian food so you might want to mention many other types. Socal has many different ethnic oriented restaurants.

When I come back in my next life I hope this is where I land. California is just so beautiful.
Gosh California is so beautiful!

One more on another part of Santa Monica coming later this week!

The Santa Monica Pier is pretty awesome
Thanks so much for this! We’re going in 2 weeks and my boys will definitely want to try Joe’s pizza. I’m taking notes as I watch! 😊
I hope you enjoy it!
I love Third Street. Especially Friday nights are great with a lot of street performers.
Awesome,!
ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL PLACE THANKS
Thanks Linda!
Woah that blue sky!

Thanks Ray! Will do!
Love this place. Love all your videos. Keep em coming.
Thanks Dominic!
Very impressive, love the walkable streets closed for cars. Too bad I missed it 😭

i remember 15 years ago this place was packed no matter what day it was.
The pandemic has definitely taken it's toll
@@YellowProductions you mean the government lockdown. Also there was rioting and looting here in 2020. The cops did nothing.
Wonderful Place
Nice one Chris.
Thanks Mark!

Universal is closer to Little Tokyo.. so if those are the 3 things you're doing I'd stay at Universal City area
Nice to see your video, took a stroll from the pier to the shops in August 2022, really relaxing experience, definitely recommend, Mike from the UK.
Thanks Mike!

Lovely City Chris well-done.. please how far is Santa Monica from Texas... I wish to visit here soon
Hi Tessy..... Flying it's 3 hours from Texas :). Driving its about 3 days :)
Nice! I have not been I'm some time.
Loved this video . Can you please do one about Malibu ? 🌺
It's on my list to do Starphase!
You might want to take a rest or slow down. You sound like you're ready to collapse. 😂 Make no mistake I still love your vids.
This headset mic really picks up my breathing. I'm not really THAT out of breath :)
@YellowProductions ohhhhhh that's explains it. My apologies!
No worries.. I got that feedback alot with that headset! 😀

Hah
You mentioned that the 3rd street promenade had been pedestrian only for a decade or so, but believe it or not it's been that way since the mid-60s!
You're right Brooke... it originally opened under a different name, but was "re-branded" as the Promenade in the 1989.... How time flies!
I just bought the Sony 53 Camcorder however it's shaky when I film. How do you keep your camera stable?
What are your opinions on the free Ride Circuit?

Amen. Ignorance is not bliss.
Third Street Promenade has been a Pedestrian Only ( 3 blocks) since 1965. Here is a link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Street_Promenade
Thanks for the correction

I wish you would have shown us where Jack, Chrissy, and Janet lived.

Don't forget to take in the local homeless guaranteed to catch at least one taking a dump in public on either 3rd 4th 5th or 6th St.
You have a real obsession with the homeless, don't you?
The gangs destroyed 3rd street promenade.
