I love that Christopher McDonald has always embraced this character. Heard he's always great with fans who quote it or mention to him. Really awesome.
Rumor is he took the job because he loves golf. So now he's a golf cult symbol and gets to Golf for free on any course he shows up to.
He was the one that really made the film iconic. It’s really hard to be a great villain in a comedy but he absolutely crushed it.

I remember when I first saw this. I was at the video store, and I saw the vhs cover of Adam Sandler holding a club. Never heard of the movie. Went home and it was an instant classic. Thank you happy and shooter.

Shooter McGavin is definitely the coolest villain. Still love this movie in 2022. The wife and I just watched it again yesterday. I've watched it well over 100 times and it never gets old. Honestly my favorite part is when Shooter hires that guy to laugh and call Happy a Jackass. He laughs and taunts Happy and that part was legendary. Nothing funnier than that!!! One of my childhood favorites for sure and always will be! Nice work Adam and Chris! Love it!!!

He is very similar to the Shooter character with his sense of humor. Used to come to my bar to shoot pool on occasion (Crestline). Saved him from a fight the last time I saw him (many years ago). A decent guy.

It's funny how just a few of the movies can stick around for so long. We all have our favorites that fit in there. The Shining, It's A Wonderful Life, Superman, Star Wars and several others fit in there. The sad thing is that there are so many films in my mental library that I don't want to search through my own memories of them. Good thing I just keep habitually buying so many films.

I have to keep reminding myself that he is NOT Shooter McGavin! He only plays him in a movie. Everyone keeps saying he's the sweetest guy IRL, but it's hard for me to get past his character. And that was decades ago! It also doesn't help that he played a totally evil dude in "Requiem for a Dream".

Met him at a bills game a few years ago and man he was a blast to talk too. He was with Jim Kelly and all the Bills fans were focused on trying to get an autograph from him and talk to him. Thank goodness that it wasn’t busy where we were but he talked to us for a little about his character and he was meeting Dan Marino in one of the suits before he stopped and talked to us. It was a great time.

I think Alex Trebek was the original choice and he turned it down so they went with Bob Barker.
