A year ago I would’ve agreed completely. Then I took jazz studies. I’m not the best, but I can pull off a decent convincing solo. Improvising is fun! Just stay in the key, use corresponding scales (blues, Dorian. Mixolydian, major, etc). Depending on the song I either play the notes in the key signature starting or the blues scale in that key. It’s fun once you get used to it! I’ve been slowly working on improving my ears, range, ect. Plus I’m jazz I actually get to play the melody. I play bass clarinet so in concert band I play the bass line and harmonies. In the school jazz band I play tenor saxophone, and for a local jazz band that is just finishing for the semester I played bass clarinet. I’ve been playing bass clarinet for 5 years, tenor sax for 5 months.

Then speed it up slowly until you get to full speed. You'll be surprised just how fast you pick it up. Make sure when you practice it that your fingers are actually doing the motions even if it's slow.

it’s worth giving a shot by learning to play by ear! i personally know multiple people who’ve learned to play instruments by ear, not piano specifically but it can be done! Honestly it’s never too late to start learning too, playing music can be difficult & frustrating but ultimately it is really fun & fulfilling. U also always have the instrument god gave u, ur voice lol! people often think of singing as either ur born with a good voice or ur screwed but rly it’s something that improves with practice & also that even if u don’t sound good it’s just fun & u can do whatever u want so why not
When i lived in france a couple yrs ago i always saw ppl playing the piano in the metro/train stations but they never had a crowd around them. It was always rare if they did. Lol so i just listened from a far and sometimes recorded it if i could.
