  • "Golden For a Moment" is a short movie, filmed and produced by Sophie Odelberg and is about the professional climber Matilda Söderlund and her attempt to become the first woman to climb the route "Golden for a moment" 8C in Utah, USA. A goal she has to reach within 14 days. But when she falls, day 13, two moves before the finish, everything is turned up side down.
The movie is about working towards a goal, fear of failure but still keep fighting and to have the courage to change course in life.
A huge thanks to Nick Orange and amazing friend who helped with belay and great company

Very well done short! Feels almost Reel Rockian. Random Honnold appearance made me laugh -- was glad that you didn't let that distract from Matilda at all.

Hi P! Totally understand what you mean but I didn't create this movie to only be for the climbing community. I wanted to create a short movie that would inspire people also outside the climbing community. To tell a story, not just show Matilda climb another route. I wanted to share her process, first time she try's to project, her struggles and her highs, not to just film the route cm by cm. Matilda climbing Golden in this movie is a tool to tell a bigger story. To take on a challenge, to work towards a goal and continue toward that goal despite adversity. Something that could make people feel recognition, climber or not. Athlete or not. Hopefully that could inspire more people to find their way into climbing or just taking on a challenge despite fear of failure. / Sophie

@@sophieodelberg In this case the movie is spot on.
It is just that I miss, besides the well told story, some minutes showing the actual climb (In my opinion climbing itself while giving it all is a methaphore of the culmination of projecting). I guess this would be a way to aim these film both to the general public and to the climbers. Anyway, it is just a viewer's opinion.
      Thanks again for your work!

Pretty sad that you don't know anyone who likes their job well enough not to say "having a career isn't for me". She didn't say she didn't "love going to work"; she was clearly quite unhappy with her job.
If you have a job you hate, it's a big world, so try something else. Easier said than done, I know, but having a happy life is worth putting some real effort into.
