I'm a huge fan and I so appreciate the depth of your knowledge. You are galaxies ahead of me but I promise you I am a smarter person thanks to you. I need this motor! Thanks again brother big fan in Houston.
What an absolute BEAST of a motor! Good to see Castle is still pushing the envelope. Fun to see this thing go for a land speed record, but can't help but fantasize about dropping one into my mojave exb and just obliterate the entire drive line before getting through a single pack. Now thats what i call bashing.
I'm not afraid to go against convention and i recently acquired one of these and a MMX8S for my Arrma Kraton. Im running it on just 4s with a 18t pinion geared for about 52mph and its perfect. The truck only weighs 13.5lbs. Esc and motor temps are 120-130. Easy. The battery gets hot though. You must have great batteries with this motor.
Thank u for explains this ryan, this motor looks very interesting to test, yet seems very powerful I have the 2200kv from castle and it seems this one is significantly more powerful according to what you have explained
Great video and I love your passion and knowledge. Quick question. How does this motor stack up in terms of power and performance against TP Powers 4070CM 2200kv and 2700kv motors which are probably the most powerful 1/8th scale speed run motors you can purchase?
The castle 1721 is a lot more powerful than the tp 4070cm. The 1721 has 2400kv and can run up to 8s, for example the 4070cm 2700kv is rated for 6s and the 2200kv for 8s, so the castle motor has 200kv more. That means it has a higher Rpm, also the 1721 is a bigger diameter 46mm (vs Tp 40mm) that means it will create mote Torque. Other Faktor are the numbers the 1721 has shown in Data loggings. This motor can easily suck 500Amps, while the Tp 4070 cm are around 300-400 Amps max. In conclusion the 1721 is a much more powerful, higher Rpm and torquier motor than Tp4070 cm
@@justinS.215 thanks for this Justin. That's just insane as the TP 4070 CM motors are extreme motors in and on themselves and have been the top speed run motors for years but the fact that the Castle motor is significantly more powerful than these is mind blowing. Sounds like the Castle 1721 is a beast👍
I'll give u a tp motor to blow that 1717 away no problem buddy 8s on 2900 kv cm 680000 rpm all day long I already smoked 1710 on 8s And my tp keeps going huh better motor lol walk ass self
I just bought this motor and it will not run on a 8s mamba it just clogs/ glitch in brushless mode and doesn't move and in senc mode it needs to be push started and goes very slow at 6s is it because of the windings or do i have a bad motor????
From my understanding, this new motor is a better performer than any current ESC is capable of putting out. I guess it has the potential of drawing more amps than even the current Castle XLX2 can put out. I dont know how true that is but the person who said it was a reliable source. So, it makes me wonder what Castle has in store for release or what they are currently working on to make full use of this motor. Also i have to put out there that i can guarantee that they use data logging that nearly ever castle system has to possibly be building a better ESC. The XLX2 is still a ESC that many people font know the true potential of and they are running conservative setups not 100% understanding all of the data that the Castle systems can log from each run. I run my Castle systems very conservative to keep not only the motor and ESC cool but also to make the RC itself very predictable. I am far from being an expert on the matter but i am comfortable with my knowledge of the data i would aquire from the data logs. I feel like Castle may be dropping a new ESC once the average weather gets warmer and people start using their speed run cars again. Castle has really been pushing the limits of our RC cars as of late and am interested in seeing where they go with this new technology.
Hey Ryan (aka: Dude): When it comes to DC motors, I’m just knowledgeable enough to get myself in trouble. I’m aware that the Delta connection uses the coils in an equilateral triangle and applies the individual phases at each of the vertices, and the Wye connection runs the coils in parallel with a common neutral, but WHAT THE HECK IS .5 Y‽‽‽ Some of today’s ESC’s bypass the MOSFETs on full throttle. Would this have anything to do with a .5 Y configuration, or is .5 Y a way to help the motor not to cog at start up? Might make an interesting video clip. Thanks for your help. Peace ✌🏻 Casey
Highly unlikely as Kevin has not put out a video with a CC 1721 (I'm not 100% certain but I do not believe he has one). The motor he was burning up all those ESCs with was a TP 4070 (I believe) rated at 3200kv on an XLX2 trying to put 8S through it.
I have a question to a different castle motor. How is the difference in Kv possible between the castle 2028 800kv and 2028 1100kv, because castle advertises both as 1Y motors. Otherwise both motors are the same, same diameter, length, rotor length and Diameter, as well as the stator length and diameter. Only thing that may be different is the winding, but I don’t know 🤔 just curious And great Video 👍🏻
@@RCexplained I think what the gentleman is referring to is Raz's 4 motor build with 4x1717 driven by 4xMMX8S. So it's not really 24S. More like quadrophonic 6S lol ;-)
Definitely great motor...I put mine up against my new tp4070 scm motor...both great...them scm tp' s tho.....worth the extra$...glad to see castle finally got something to challenge tp...especially since everyone run CC with tp motors ....I was telling myself months ago that castle needed a 1717 2200kv motor in their lineup...well done Castle...
I always like this channel and content!
Very informative and knowledgeable.
This is actually the best RC motor ever made in my opinion.
Yet..😎
Hey Raz, thanks for the kind words. Definitely the best motor I've seen so far!
What about now guys. Lmao and yes. I’ve learned a lot here. Thanks
I have a dual limitless build with 2 of them with 2 8s castle esc ran 140 first run half throttle your absolutely right this motor is a animal

Thank you for showing the guts of that thing! I already wondered if and what castle would have changed. Now we know about that tube/hose of steel.
You bet!
Well done!!
Love the knowledge you give our community keep up the great work
Thanks for the kind words
Daaaaayyyyyyyym that’s wild man!
What is the 1520-1650kv Castle motor rated at for horsepower and torque?
Good explanation. Thumbs up. Would love to have seen some close-ups of the motors and rotors.
Good Point, Did not even think of this.
Great video as always. I think I need one of these motors. Cheers buddy.

im wondering if i should buy the 1100 kv or this 1721 for the xmaxx

Hey bro. I got a question if you got time
Think I just found the weapon motor for my combat featherweight bot
I'd like to see a Dyno and rotor comparison to a big block TP motor.
me too!
Some tp motors comes with a stainless steel rotor sleeve i hope caste can do over the 1415 2400kv with this style
I hope they adopt this tech in other motors as well.
what is a suitable esc? would the max6 work?
The MAX6 ESC Manufacture states the ESC is to be used with motors less than 1200Kv. The Castle ESC is 2400Kv. I would recommend the XLX2 or bigger.
@@RCexplained i have a mamba monsterX 8s would it do? its connectors are 6mm is that the only issue?
The issue is with the capability of the monsterX. Yes it can work but if pushed to hard you chance blowing it up.
Dope

You must have seen the Kevin Talbot video of him blowing up ESC after ESC with this exact motor.
No I didn't but if the ESC is not as Beast as this motor, bad things can happen when not careful.

Stator length, wire size, and air gap fine tune the kv's of the 2028 motors
