Olly it’s just not financially viable to be swapping tractors just because it has a better screen and joysticks and display arms you need to really weigh up the difference
Olly you need to be very thankful that you have a 6155r and a manitou we have not had a new tractor since 2002 and it is only 100 horsepower and it runs alongside a 35 and a t20 We have a 200 acre farm and it does everything done over 15k hours
If you’re spending 1200-1500 hours in a tractor you should definitely invest a bit more into it if you’re only doing a few hundred cheap and cheerful is probably best. Also how are you spending nearly £100 a week on food? And what happened to looking on the positive side of life?
Yeah that’s why the astons are called like db5 and db10 abs stuff. We got a 885 in the family from new. Best tractor ever made. Had it 42 years and never not started with a bit of love
I do enjoy watching your videos but recently it’s been a bit confusing. One minute it’s all about how tractors are too complicated and classic tractors are the way forward, to the 6R isn’t complicated enough. Apart from the price, the JD will do the same as a case or a Massey. Keep being positive and make the most of the Deere. It’s just the fact that your opinion changes every video. Sorry to be critical because I do love your videos
It’s very interesting to see that John Deere aren’t all good. Tough times ahead it seems. Can u talk about the lack of young passionate farmers especially arable and could u do a vid on specking your next tractor to replace the JD. So like go on the MF website, NH, Claas, JD and Case. Cheers Farmer Sam
Totally agree with you Olly, it seems farmers are being pushed to make more niche/expensive food and we import cheap stuff from abroad. As soon as things get tight, are people going to buy Welsh grass fed lamb or cheaper New Zealand lamb? Throw Covid and Brexit into the mix and UK farmers are going to have a hell of time over the next few years. Diversifying seems not only a priority right now but essential! James Bond would drive a classic grey Ferguson if we're going back to the Sean Connery era, nowadays maybe a JCB fast track?
You are so right I think Olly about the next few years about farming. Farmers will have to grow cover crops. It will be extremely hard for grassland farmers who can’t grow cover crops.
Firsly, the command pro is on sale so its the cheapest option at the moment, John deere do an airline, nearly every john deere do an iPad, The computer works completely fine it not built for geniuses its built for farmer, and finally the cases and newhollands are made to look good to the eye but the built quality is very plastic and the model you were looking at was a high spec, and I'm sure there was a new 6 series coming out.
The current John Deere on the market have been updated there are two air line points under the cab now and it’s a 500 pound extra to go command pro, i run a 18 reg ultimate edition 155r and haven’t had any problems with any of it and have tried the same size puma against it and believe me a John Deere is by far a nicer tractor to drive than a case build quality and user friendly not to mention second hand value
Olly you are spot on about the tractors - However, your point is kind of hypocritical… You drive around in a £60,000 defender. Where a £5000 truck or ranger would do the same job. It’s similar with tractors, you pay for ‘quality’ At the end of the day they all do the same job. I agree John Deere’s are poor for their price. We run case and they are better than Deere’s in the puma range size. Yet the Deere is £25K dearer
Bond would have a fenth I think the case was spot on I had 165 puma loved it but drove friends new class yesterday a 530 aerion one well finished and layed out cab nice tractor must say
There’s ur problem the electric handbrake buy the ordinary one we have 3 contractors around us who use to be John Deere now there case and said they would never go back
Hi olly I think you should look at a new Holland or a case as the are both very well built and they are a lot cheaper then a deer also I think you might be able to find a good part exchange for the deer
Evening olly. It doesn't matter what tractor brand you run they all have issues. I heard of a puma CVT gearbox breaking down just out side of warranty on a local farm. Claas are getting popular up here. Aa far as james bond probably a fast track.
should have a look at the masseys, theyve been updated since u had that 7718S and theyve only ever been good to us, also theyre much better value than the john deeres
Also Valtra's last soo long they are very good quality (my oldest one is 1999 and it is just like brand new) they also have a joystick the modern ones and a very spacious cap so you can stretch out your legs and they are very in with the ace tech
Hi Olly, I’m not familiar with the larger tractors however we have a Massey 4245 and 4345 and they’ve been going for 20 years, tractors still work every day and are perfect for your secondary tractor needs, definitely worth checking out and seeing if there’s any decent second hand ones in your area
Olly, there are cycles when manufacturers launch new or updated products. In January it could be New Holland or Massey Ferguson. You have to compare apples to apples picked that day not brand new today against what was new 2 years ago. You committed to the JD stick with it, do the necessary upkeep and work it hard. You seem to be getting soft, practice what you preach. Stay strong, use your common sense and youth to weather the storm in difficult times, as things believe it or not will improve. That’s when you will see profits, and the hard work will pay off. Be positive, don’t be distracted. 🏴🇺🇸
Hi olly, I’m a agricultural contractor In Norfolk I’ve got a 6215r command pro, I’ve demoed a case 240 puma and they very similar tractors, but the Deere wasn’t working as hard and burning 8 litres of diesel less an hour both with the same 3 metre sumo at same depth
At the end of the day what colour tractor you have doesn’t matter it’s down to personal preference and dealer backup, whatever colour it is it will have problems
Scary prospects on the way british farming is going Olly! But gotta say some great words on enjoying your life! As for James Bond how about that FastTrack that Guy Martin drove...as for John Deere most US farmers don't use the lower size tractors! That spot is beingfilledveryquicklywithFenit!!! Charlie 🇨🇦
Should try a Deutz cheap version on Fendt cause Fendt use Deutz engines and exhaust system both with Verio gearbox or Deutz you got power shift or manual and reliable. Fendt, John Deere to expensive for what they are and especially when comes to service when you can’t do it your self
It would be cool to see you demo a valtra. I have driven some john deere's. And i like them, but the new valtra's is a lot better i think, even better than a fendt. You should consider to demo a valtra 5th generation. And it would be cool to see you demo some different tractors, and get your opinion on them. Love to watch your videos btw.
Don't be scared in going red, been using them in the last 10 years plus (pumas) very reliable, the rear lift was the seller operating a kuhn combination, i do think sometimes you pay for the badge,
Get the case on demo with a loader compare the two and see what makes the JD £20k more. Also didn’t realise you had a supermarket checkout till in the John Deere🤣
You can’t beat the case lots of thing that you have as extra on other. We have 2 pumas an optum and a quadrac and they are the best tractors. That’s why you should get one and James Bond would have one
I agree with the JD part They are even more expensive than fendts nowadays. And fendt is much better quality i think. I do like older JD's like 10 and 30 series but the newer ones havent upped their game. And olly? Thats the 1st time i heard you swear on cam but i can understand cuz the way farming is right now Love the content brah!
But Olly you have to understand, to pay for a stock magnum with all of its extra features it is a lot more than a stock John Deere without that, so if you add on all those extras to the John Deere that u have stock in the case u will probably find it is cheaper than buying the case stock!
Love your channel Olly, I watch every episode, even though I don't know anything about farming and farm equipment except what I learn from UA-cam. I appreciate your attitude, commitment and commentary on the future of farming and issues facing us.
Olly, you've got plenty of time to consider your next purchase. Get as many demo tractors as possible & compare them (we'd love the vids)! But they must be similar new models; JD, Valtra, Case, MF, NH, Fendt, JCB?
I get that it's 2021 mate but theirs still meat and veg guys like me at 45 yrs old who can't understand a lot of these computer systems now without my 10 yr old helping me out.LOL. I get your philosophy on farming practices moving into the future but as of my mindset now could you farm on an older tractor with the same results without the mod tech within reason. What I'm trying to say is be happy with what you got.
JamesBond knocking all these LandRovers off the road without getting a scratch. If you want to go out in the wilderness get a LandRover, if you want to get back again, get a Landcruiser🤠
I think a Massey Ferguson would be perfect for your size farm, our customers who are small farms mostly use massey, they are fantastic all round non expensive tractors
I personally don’t believe J.D is the way to go especially in the future Like the big companies such as Apple they’ll charge more just for the brand. Buying a tractor like a Case, a New Holland would provide a much better service/ a much better quality for the same price or less !! It’s definitely something to think about for the future. I personally don’t believe J.D is the way to go especially in the future
Not sure how you guys are going to keep going without the subsidies. For us in Ireland prices are also going up but its probably not viable to farm without subsidies for many farmers
Conservation land does not feed people! we have over 400 acres planted with trees, I wish we never did it now, as soon as you sign on that dotted line they tell you what you can and can’t do on your own land, we need to feed our own country and be sustainable
Well olly how are ya i think you should buy an older tractor like a ford 6640 there a good reliable yoke and they have about 90 hp i have one and i love it
Same situation here in Pakistan with farmers Fuel prices are gone high inputs are high up too. Now tractors are too out of the range Everyone is unable to understand what is going on with the world specifically the farmers
Olly it’s just not financially viable to be swapping tractors just because it has a better screen and joysticks and display arms you need to really weigh up the difference
if times are so hard why buy a new tractor?

You're own doing mate ya had a perfectly fine 6930 which are going up in value 😬
Bond would drive a David Brown - was the same company as Aston Martin.
I was just about to write the same comment
and it would have to be a 990 , power and balls to burn

hey olly, have a look at valtra as well cause the valtra N series can go up to 200hp and depending what package you get they come out fairly cheap
You don’t want a valtra
@@alexoffland932 what valtra is a really good traktor
We have 4600 command centre screens in our 6r’s and I think they are very good screens. Also I think James Bond would definitely have a fast track .
James Bond would have a Fendt 1000 Vario Black Beauty or a Silver JCB 4220
I think you mean Fendt 1050,more hp😉
The more ponies the better
No David Brown
