he is keeping his hand up when throwing the hook. Major improvement
It is way better but he is still slightly dropping it
@@eyeopenproductions1559he looks more sharp though I still think he beats tank in the rematch
@@davidmccain4126 Yeah he does look sharper but I don't think he can beat Tank. Tank is a very disciplined fighter in that ring and extremely patient. Ryan still has to show he can stay disciplined and not get bored as he said. Ryan is still a one trick pony which is not enough to beat Tank. But if we get the rematch, we will see.
@@Crowndone89 nah he beats him because I believe pacquio will train him eventually

Agree James is a great trainer that don't play now with Spencer last fight I don't think his conditioning was all that he looked stronger for the porter and Garcia fight I think spence was very dehydrated killed himself to make weight his power wasn't there
Rayan is improving and working on learning new things. He knows he can’t just rely on speed and is learning the basics again. I’ve seen improvement and I am proud of him

That jab to left hook drill is exactly what rocked Haney once and put him on the canvas the 2nd time!! 😱😱
It's nearly undefendable given how fast he is. Your best hope is to just step/jump back out of it completely backing yourself up more in the process though only for him to throw it again.
@@rabbitscryptos7757 that’s because Haney ain’t smart like a tank davis 💯
Don’t mention a rehydration because tank already knows Ryan’s intentions anyways that’s the difference between Haney and tank fighting Ryan💯
He is just getting better
Keeping the hand up is common sense, it’s still to low. He could get away with it before because he was fighting amateurs
@@supercobra-yx7dfok guy you know more then Derrick James
@@nobuk2097 trainer did an uppercut, Ryan did the only punch he could throw good
@@nobuk2097 uppercut is so close up it’s hard to counter so that’s a reason the coach is keeping the hand lower
@@supercobra-yx7dfbro your absolutely right and look at the goofy ahhh response you get back lmao ryan gotta be the lowest IQ boxer we ever seen on the big stage behind rolly. He will never best champions with that IQ if he couldnt think to train the block
He ignored the coach …the coach wanted a hook / upper cut style and he came in with same old looping bangers
Good knowing someone paid attention.
coach also didn’t keep the hand on the chin while throwing the hook which is literally ryan’s biggest flaw… fire the man and get someone else in!
@@TheHoneycomber I saw that but thought I’d give a pass on it as he’s focusing on hook at an angle
Hey smart man. He’s not showing the hook, he’s showing the action (hip turn) that makes the hook powerful. So if you look at both of their hips, Ryan is doing the correct thing. The coach is over exaggerating the motion. You UA-cam coaches are hilarious 😂😂
I saw that too 😂😅
Bro’s new “knockout move” is his signature move lol
He keeps his hands up now 😅
😂😂😂😂
@jojostoenail2162 those 2 left hooks on the bag you can see him dip that rear hand below his chin real quick as he leans left, if that makes it into a match he's still open to a southpaw, just not wide open anymore.
Don't fear the man practicing a thousand techniques.. but he man practicing the same technique 1000x over.
He's MODIFYING a a natural tendency. A good coach doesn't make a boxer mold himself to he training but he molds himself around the fighter. "We know how you you fight, add this"
Yeah but this time with proper defense to go along
All he needs to work on is his defence and footwork, I don’t understand how trainers have let him get this far just by practicing on his hands 24/7
🔥 I see Derrick James is training Ryan to use his left hook as a counter punch instead of leading with it. That should be a helpful adjustment.
You talking about one adjustment out of like 10 adjustments he needs to make lol
@@amirheru3138 You gotta start somewhere. 🤣

The problem has never been Ryan's offense, it's his defense that needs to greatly improve.
It has can u not use Ur eyes and see his hand placement is different and he is now keeping his hands up and isn't blazing punches
@Byron0 he still dropping😂 can YOU not see? Og commenter is right. His offense is pretty dang good and always has been. His defense is bad. It's so funny to me that anyone thiught he'd beat tank😂😂😂
Against any top fighter, Ryan only has a puncher's chance. It'll be the same with Haney.@@lubskipunch8706
His offense was good against lower quality fighters. Ryan did not have a great offensive night against Tank. Ryan is good but needs improvement all the way around. For ex., look at Ryan coach on the heavy bag showing him (what I call a digging left hook. Meaning it is about 85% hook (horizontal) 15% uppercut). Ryan does not imitate his coach's example smh. But maybe I'm just being too technical 🤷🏿♂️🤷♂️
@@screwhead303wrong 😂 his offense is amazing he lost to tank because of his defense left himself open for money shots tank even gave probs to his offense
He still dropping that hand but looking alot sharper nonetheless
I was thinking the same thing 👍🏾
You can tell he's trying to correct it though, definitely an improvement. Not as low and seems to immediately put it back up when he realizes it.
It's definitely gonna improve in time

This is exactly what he did to Devon Haney Derek James teaching Ryan the right way, right way amen
They need to teach Ryan head movement, footwork, and how to avoid being trapped. We have so many retired greats he can work with to pick up their tips, and tricks. Why is he working on his left hook..... He needs to jab more, and improve his right hand tops.
Look who coaching him
U really think Derrick don't know this? Do u really think this all they're working on? Lol. Smh
You never know we will only know when we see him in his next match Dec 2nd. I hope Derrick James can improve his fundamentals, as the options Eddie Hearn is looking at setting up will cook him. Teo, winner of Haney vs prograis, or tank rematch.
They're probably making him work on it to get rid of bad habits like he still drop his right hand a little bit when throwing his hook but he has improved
@@aalanis8257 I agree with you. I hope his new team fixes his bad habits cause he puts himself in a lot of danger. The top fighters in his bracket are very cerebral, and will pick him apart (135 - 140). I think the only potential issue with his new team is that Derrick has Spence and Charlo coming off losses. Anthony Joshua is added to his stable that is building back up for a contender fight. Ryan might not get the dedication needed to build him from the ground up, and Eddie his promoter might not wait before booking another big fight after Ryan's tune up in Dec.
It's the dancing... Footwork gets you to the next level...
Nah his forward pressure style rly suits him with his hand speed and long arms. I wouldn’t waste time running away from the pocket if I had Ryan’s left hook
@@shanebodnar9861he never said running. It’s called switching angles and keep punching. He’s too predictable that’s why tank made easy work of him. He’s gotta add some depth to his game or it’s gunna stop here

Bro same jab hook that was dropping devin all night 😖
Ryan needs a trainer who's gonna show him how to be elusive
True the basics are the most important thing, but you have to add some unorthodox tricks and tactics to your style when you get to the top level because most fighters are prepared for basic stuff and just being basic makes you more predictable. Floyd would always drop his right hand when throwing the leaping left hook but his timing was so good people could rarely counter him.
Yup darek ain't it
Calvin would be great but yh his best option on the table is derrick atm
Probably true for the dude he's fighting you might have a point. Buy IF ryan comes out looking like shit then james ain't it and ryan don't got it no more

No todo se trata de esquivar,si no de conectar el usa su distancia muy bien pero contra un fajador si es de cerca creo que no tiene una buena oportunidad de ataque, solo toca defenderse
That jab hook he s practicing is wat acutually hurt haney
I love that he keepin them hands up
When Gervonta said "All he has is a weak ass hook" guess he took it personally. You'll need more than one weapon in your arsenal to take down a Tank.
That fight was rigged G he took a dive for extra money
No lmao. It's because he lost. Also all he's doing is throwing the left hook here. It's like you just had that comment in your notes and you were thirsty for any reason to post it. Even if it made no sense.
@@Cilent__he ain't exactly saying he has a new shot per say is my guess, but we see a lot of improvements on Ryan keepings his hands more up than before where he had them all the way downwhen throwing
@@Cilent__ Sheeesh, someone's having their time of the month.

Jab left hook! Landed as practiced 🔥
Ryan needs some unorthodox, elusive, and lateral movement in his footwork. Imagine if Ryan was more elusive he has the speed.
exactly
Nah Ryan shouldn’t waste time dancing around on the outside. He should continue to use his pressure fighting bc it suits him wells with his long arms and wicked fast hands. He just needs better defense and he seems to be better about keeping his hands up
@@shanebodnar9861you ain’t lying Derrick James about to turn this man into a monster
Absolutely not bro, mans needs fundamentals. His speed charm is already the glamour.
If this man improves his defense, including keeping his hands up, he would be a beast. Although some elusive fighters purposely put their hands down, but it is hard to hit them. He makes it easy to get hit.
Everything is looking more tight and less flashy.
Boxing is way more than just being a puncher.. the punching ability was the least of his problems it was everything else where he lacks
He honestly looks the same to me
His hand speed is all the glamour he needs. When he masters his fundamentals, he’ll pull this shit off effortlessly and not get countered

Damn man small details really make a difference
Don’t get it twisted, Derrick James is a world class coach.
True, but his fighters haven’t been looking like it these last couple of fights
@@quan6079 I don't blame Derrick James for that. 1. Errol Spence has stayed at 147 too long and faced an all-time great talent like Bud Crawford. 2. Charlo dared to be great by going up 2 weight classes to fight THE Face of Boxing in Canelo. That wasn't a very winnable fight, no matter who your coach is.
Neither of these losses is all that embarrassing.
@@buddhaparadoxTerrence ripped Errol a new one. What you mean coach. Charlo? He should do track from now on goddam
@@captainlight8050 Doesn't matter who was coaching Errol or Charlo. They were both going to lose those fights no matter what. Can't blame Derrick James too much. Errol was his own worst enemy by not moving up in weight, for starters. He was so weak against Crawford. His punch resistance is nonexistent now. It was not just Crawford's power. It was Errol being weakened.
A lot of boxing trainers in the comments section. Remember these are only clips. Ryan is improving. Excited to see his next fight.
Homie they're reacting to the clip shown. Why should they do any different? Legit question
And people knowing what they're talking about doesn't mean they're trying to be some boxing trainer. You exaggerate so much just to prove a point it's absurd
@@BlackPsychopathHAHA more people hating and thinking they know more than Derrick James. Like I said these are just clips and people are treating this 15sec clip as if it’s an 3hr training session. News flash, people on social media think they’re experts
Trainer show upper cuts to the body. Ryan: oh ok then proceed to do some hooks.😂
If he keeps his hands up after throwing the hook it’ll be the biggest improvement I’ve seen him make

Ryan is putting in work!!!
Looks like he's getting better respect I didn't think I would see Ryan Garcia looking this serious about the sport.
It's good to see him training seriously, I wanna see a rematch I maybe a year, he'll be unstoppable
For anyone: Not sideways for the liver shot, this is not a body hook. Up at about a 35 degree angle, into just barely below the very base of the ribcage. This is one of those punches you aim deep, you have to throw with lethal intent or you risk a nasty right response. But ohhhh boy, if you've been on the receiving end you know how brutal this shot is done right.
We know the kid can crack. He needs to focus most his time on footwork, and more importantly, defensive footwork.
Brother please throw more than that left hook.. I’m really rooting for you in this Haney fight..
So hope he bounces back❤
He doesn’t need a knockout shot, just better fundamentals

Best thing i noticed here isnt the left hand staying up while throwing the hook. Its the chin being tucked. Thats a major improvement and very hard habbit to break. Good Job Ryan bro.
