Hey Jim, thanks so much for the compliments on my "Aliens" and Warlock 5" work. The only other comic book work I did other than cover art for Predator, Predator vs Aliens, Starship Troopers, Ghost, Time Cop, Star Wars, was doing the 1931 adaptation of "Frankenstein". Here's a link if you'd like to see. Thanks again Jim! denbeauvais.com/Frankenstein.html

Hey Jim! Love these videos - Always gives me new titles and artists to add to my want list. I picked up Street Angel last week and loved it. Keep up the great work !! I'm honored by the kind words about Red Bullet Comics. - They represent countless hours at the drawing board. Thanks to Kayfabe a really cool local guy was able to track me down and I am currently working on a pin-up for his next book.

The things I know about Paul Mavrides is that he drew some of the later issues of Freak Brothers and did a good amount of art for the Church of the SubGenius.

All About Books And Comics from Phoenix, AZ is a wonderful shop for all things comics but they've got a great back issue section and they carry a very good selection of key comics and first appearances at pretty decent prices.

Marshall Rogers' silver surfer is my definitive Surfer and not coincidentally my first encounter w/ that character (when they had spinner racks in 7-11), funny how that works

Great video Jim! Always love seeing what you pick out. Great to see Warwick Johnson Cadwell get a shoutout, the current king of British comics! His recent Fairground pieces on his Instagram have been some of his best work to date. Always evolving and no one can catch up with him.

Interesting haul, Jim. I remember buying that Dr. Weird off of the stands when it came out. I didn’t know Martin was attached to it. I’ll have to dig it up and re-read it. Also, I was jealous you got so many Valkyrie issues. I only ever saw one and picked it up for Gulacy’s art.
But I really want to talk about Marshall Rogers. I bought his Batman off the racks as a kid. He also did a great Dr. Strange run with Roger Stern. Perhaps most important to you would be his independent stuff. He did Detective, Inc. with Don McGregor. It was the first graphic novel that I purchased. Also, he teamed with Englehart again to kick off the Coyote series.
As for the Scorpio Rose you got, initially it was a Madame Xanadu story for DC. They rejected it, so Englehart repurposed it as Scorpio.
    Thanks for sharing.

RE: Thermonuclear Warrior - I noticed the name JR Bookwalter in there. He's a massively prolific maker of very cheap exploitation and horror movies dating back to 1989, he would have been 26 when this came out. Never knew he did comics. Responsible for classic cinema like Robot Ninja, Zombie Cop and Mega Scorpions.

    Some thoughts/notes:
    - Rich Rankin… inker on Mage, right?
    - Dr. Weird. Remind me to show you the original by Howard Keltner. I LOVE that guy’s stuff.
    - Frank Forte… I met Frank one early Sunday morning at 5am outside the SDCC doors. I had driven in early to make sure I got a parking spot for load out. I then went up and caught some zzz on a bench. Frank walked up, and we started talking comics. He currently works for Heavy Metal (art director?) but at the time was running his own imprint known as Asylum Press. And yes, him and Al Columbia were pals. He was selling some Al originals for a while. At some point I think I even saw his name on Bob’s Burgers.
    - Jim Lawson? Bade Biker!
