They had contracts, and the producers liked the original team because of the drama the moms created.
She would only tell the girls that so they never felt comfortable in their spot. Abby raised them with that mindset so they know that they have to work harder. She never wanted to replace them.

Because she was the most popular girl on the show in the fanbase, and it happened everywhere they went. That's part of the reason Abby hated her, probably, because she was jealous and wanted it to be all about her and Maddie.
well just like Kelly said Paige lights up a room and its true none of the other girls could do that Maddie was a fantastic dancer but she was never a star and never drew your attention unless it was pushed on you that's why Maddie never got duets with people who could draw your attention and were stars .

@@Catsss1017 well she must've been embarrassed and stressed about having a mother compare her child to her. She was already in a lot of stress before the open call due to Abby not teaching her the routine and then to have a mother tell her she can't dance?? I feel really bad for her.

The producers actually scouted for Cathy’s team too from these auditions. These were “Dance Moms” auditions not ALDC auditions. So some boys and other girls here were called to be on the Candy Apples.

I find it sad that Abby does things that she thinks are teaching the kids a lesson and making her look good when in actual fact it does the opposite. They make her look bad. Her dancers would consistently improve if she was supportive, kind, respectful, efficient and proactive. Set your kids up for success. Kids will be so passionate and hard working when they're being taught in a positive, fun, safe and inspiring environment. Especially these girls. They would flourish. If abby had her own children, she would get it.

Actually, Abby isn’t really that mean. I’m pretty sure it’s the people who run the show make them say these rude things and make Abby be harsh to get more views for their content. Abby is actually really kind for the most part and I think the kids she teaches thinks that too at times..

Anyway, it doesn't matter whether the producers told her to say certain things, Abby still said them. It's wrong. That's just my opinion.

1:46 made me cry when Chloe said I'm scared. I feel bad for Brooke, Paige, and Chloe especially. They don't deserved to be treated like this. Abby treats Maddie like a Queen while Abby treated everyone Including Chloe, Paige, and Brooke like their nothing. I am glad that the Hylands left in the middle of season 4 while the Lukasiaks left at the end of season 4 so they don't to have to deal with Abby's abuse. Chloe, Paige, and Brooke will always be my favorite dancers in the show.

Also Abby: Made Kalani and Brynn regress, gave Jade childish choreography that got her 3rd place for the first time, constantly gave Chloe bad choreography, caused Kendall, Maddie and Paige panic attacks because of her borderline abusive "teaching" methods, never helped Kenzie improve and instead gave her pretty much the same choreography all the time, was absent or late a lot and didn't give the elites proper classes, gave her dancers ridiculous steps in their solos specially when they said they wanted mature choreography, etc.

i think what abby failed to realize is she would never have a team of maddie’s, but that’s a good thing. A team with just people with the same skills would be really boring and not that interesting, all the girls were unique in their own way, so that made the team even more interesting than just a team of maddie’s.
