    I dont really get the appeal of this watch. The cronograph looks kinda useless. The tiny dashes that signify minutes/ seconds arent very distinct or pronounced, at least from the viewpoint of someone watching this video.

    Hi. Nice review like always. I got mine through Kickstarter at much lower price. I have no regrets. Shame there is no lume but the clean design without compromising functionality got me sold. This is my 4th chrono btw.

    Nicely done. I love the intro. Your really upping your cinematic game. I was curious about these guys. They looked nice, but did seem a little pricey.

      The stabilization on the G8 is pretty amazing, and being able to shoot at 60fps and slow it down has really helped a lot too.

    Hey what time is it? It's zero past zero o'clock.

    The watch is well designed and I particularly like the deep spots for the small hands. But for a watch that costs around 250 Euros or more (for a watch with quarz movement), I think the hands should be luminescent. Lume also contributes to the function.

    I recently bought the Philosopher model from them and it's nice. I really like the clean, simple design. It is thinner than this model and very clean and high end looking. I'm not too tuned in on movement nor am I a serious watch collector, so as long as it keeps time I'm fine. I bought it as a customizable set so it came with a brown leather, black leather, and silver mesh band, so it's like 3 watches in 1 for about $277, but I bought it with credit card points so it was free. It's a nice looking watch and so far so good. The charitable aspect of the purchase was nice but not one of the main reasons I purchased it. I mainly went for looks and value in price, but their charity and sustainability was something that helped me choose it over similar, less expensive brands.

    I don’t know how I missed this post....?
    That Scandinavian / Northern European design aesthetic is *so* prominent in this design. What strikes me about good Scandinavian design is their ability to have whatever they're designing - a house, a chair, a watch - look sort of retro *and* sort of futurist at the same time. They are just brilliant.
    I agree with you Dave: I feel like $280USD is a fair price - for the same price I can buy Seagull 1963 - a similar watch functionally - but with that beautifully decorated manual movement on full view + it has a very meaningful place in the history of watch making, so I think I'd spend my $200ishUSD on that have $80 left over to donate.
    But that doesn't mean I wouldn't buy the Nordgreen - at 35% off I think that I would. It's a captivating watch. But that $250 - $300USD is *such* a competitive price point I'd probably go for something else... Like the 1963!

    Big fan of your reviews..
    I like very much of the face of the watch. .
    But not a fan at all of the height..
    That's the main deal breaker on my end..
    I'm not a big fan of the movement. It's okay and tried and tested and it's solid but I love other ((thinner movements better )
    The miyota 9015 movement is only a little more in cost of this movement but is so much better and thinner movement..
    If this watch was quartz
    Then I would pick one up.
    Love your honesty in your detailed reviews...

      I almost went with the rose gold with white dial, I think that's a really cool contrast between a flashy case color and a really minimalist design.

  • @thomasflynn5366
    @thomasflynn5366 4 роки тому +1

    I had a couple of reactions. 1) I don't really like the case. I like the case design on their Philosopher model better. 2) I disagree about the lume. I don't think it would fit the style of the watch. 3) I LOVE the dial and I can't imagine getting it in any other color than white.
    As usual a great review. Great channel. Keep them coming.

    “...smart watches and computer technology and user interface has been so influenced by Scandinavian design..” Truth be told, what we know as “Scandinavian” design is heavily influenced by Bauhaus, so your statement is correct in the sense that companies like Apple and their competitors are heavily influenced by the Bauhaus philosophy. There are side by side comparisons of the work of Apple designers and Dieter Rams.

    • @poulwinther
      @poulwinther 4 роки тому

      Oh, but perhaps you care to also mention why Scandinavian design was influenced by the Bauhaus design school? The three architectural directors came to Scandinavia when forced to flee nazi Germany. Soo... thanks Bauhaus or thanks to Scandinavia? ;-)

    • @FrancisJacquerye
      @FrancisJacquerye 4 роки тому

      I thought Jante’s Law didn’t allow to brag ;-)
      I don’t want to take any merit away from the work of Scandinavian designers, but we both agree that Bauhaus predates them. If computer technology and user interface has been influenced by something, the root of it is Bauhaus.

  • @Trex100

    I want to be gentle here as i do see the beauty in this watch... BUT I’ve lived in Copenhagen for the last 20 years and I understand “Scandinavian design” to a certain degree. There is much to be said for it, however sometimes the methodology can be seen as to remove personality from objects. This is fine with some things, but when applying this philosophy to watches, one can end up with a fine specimen which unfortunately lacks character. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a DW, but to sell well, this watch needs to let go of the spartan Scandinavian aesthetic. Danes can also take unusual chances. I hope NordGreen does that.

      They're a pretty young brand, so they've got some room to grow. Thanks for the insiders perspective on the design!

      I can agree with that - if it was a daily wearer. But I think it far out-dresses much more expensive dress watches. Oh well, I am geographically biased anyway.

    Another China made watch that is costing less than 2 us$ for production, is sold for 20 us$ to the brand and sold to consumers for +200 us$. No marketing costs since UA-camrs are taking care of that. I don’t get it.

    Quartz chronos piss me off. Who on earth is this aimed at anyway? Nice case though.

    • @DC-uf6ve
      @DC-uf6ve 4 роки тому

      @Blazin609 They just look cheap. If you're getting misaligned watches you're probably not spending enough.

    • @DC-uf6ve
      @DC-uf6ve 4 роки тому

      @Blazin609 Not cool, man. I'm no elitist, I'm just more discerning than you, don't confuse it. A chrono should be at least mecha quartz imo or it just isn't any use as a chronograph. This is easily doable affordably and are equally accurate. You can pick up decent mechanical chronos for just slightly more than this tat too. What more value does this thing add over rubbish like Daniel Wellington or Michael Kors offerings? A half decent case and sapphire for 3x the cost. Agree with your sentiments re TGV - absolute worm of a man.

    • @DC-uf6ve
      @DC-uf6ve 4 роки тому

      @Blazin609 There are literally tons of options at the RRP of this watch which is $280 fyi. Seagull 1963 with sapphire and a decorated movement or this? Tough one. Picked up a citizen bullhead well within this price range, mechanical high beat flyback chrono. There are even watches rocking Seiko mecha quartz chrono movements in this price range. Oh you want a solid gold warranty now? Earlier you were advocating fixing things yourself. I don't think you know what you want or what's out there. Suggest more research.

    • @JusttheWatch
      @JusttheWatch  4 роки тому +3

      I think this more of a fashion watch aimed at the general public than at watch enthusiasts. A lot of my friends who aren't into watches really gravitate towards minimalist quartz pieces like this, even preferring them to mechanical watches with more character.

    • @DC-uf6ve
      @DC-uf6ve 4 роки тому

      @O.o LOL Er, yeah bully for you geez. Obviously measuring things in whole seconds only suits you and that's fine. For most people a chrono needs to be more granular than that. I'd argue that a decent high beat chrono is as accurate over the short period of time you'd be using a chrono for under normal circumstances and gives you the option of *shock horror* measuring more granularly. Madness I know. So I'm a moron because I don't agree with you? Yeah sure, but may I say you sound like someone who is too tight to buy a decent chronograph. Work harder, you'll get there son.
