Me: Wow that first actor who played JFK really nailed his voice!
This guy: There was no effort put into this.
Lol really? He sounded nothing like Kennedy. Greg Kinnear was closer
ianthia those hesitation sounds gave me goosebumps I'd rank it near Brolin in W overall
@@FreeMarketSecularist Josh Brolin did a great job, so did the other actor, didn't catch his name
@Razh 80 is james the first actor?
@@FreeMarketSecularist Brolin literally can master any voice
He did a spot on Younger Tommy Lee Jones in men in black 3
Still ageing like a fine wine I see, Erik. 👌🤷♥️
*aging
@@xxIluvyouguysxx thank you! Autocorrect/Swype spelled it like that and it looked hella weird and I wasn't sure if it was just me. 😂 You ever have one of those moments where you just look at the spelling of a word and realize how weird it is? I thought that was what was happening. 😂🤷
@@xxIluvyouguysxx Ageing is also correct.
@@TheUltraViolets08
Omg!! Yes!!!! There was this one time I forgot how to spell the word "only" and maybe at the time I was thinking of own and so I ended up writing "ownly". Lol, and I thought it looked correct hahahaha. When I realized what I wrote I felt like such an idiot but I couldn't change it cuz it was on a English worksheet and I had already turned it in!! Hahahaha, so u is not alone. 😉😂😂😚
Deborah Mutombo *you are not alone.
Was the choice to highlight Bill Clinton saying "Me...too" over and over again a conscious choice or a rather hilarious coincidence?
😭
Great catch.
I really like the editing on these kinds of videos, so props to the editor
Maymuna Kabir their editor should critique examples of editing lol
The sheer attention to fine detail Eric has and broad range of in depth knowledge he displays is nothing short of impressive. He is very informative and descriptive yet charismatic enough in his breakdowns to keep you interested
MY FAVOURITE SERIES RETURNS
I just gave you a like
Erik should have a video about the way HIMSELF talks.
He constantly uses aspects of his own accent/voice to explain things about other people though.
These are my FAVORITE videos, I could watch them for hours and hours and hours. I find myself rewatching them all the time, Erik Singer is such a joy to watch, he has true expertise of this topic.
This has helped me a lot in understanding more about my accent in other languages also. I have often had trouble with older Czech accents, which are often hyposybalant, as opposed to newer, sharper accents. It helps me to observe it as a pattern.

Director: would you like a dialect coach Jeff?
Jeff Daniels: can't I just wear a wig? That'll do.
That's like Michael Caine and his non-Texan accent, in spite of all of his hats/buckles.
Actually no, maybe Michael Caine's was worse.
My man is back yess. Legit could watch him talk forever he explains his points and reasoning so well.
This guy should critique Orphan Black. The actress playing the clones does so many different accents
Oh my god that’d be awesome
YES.
What about Daniel Day-Lewis’s Lincoln?? I’m guessing they didn’t include it because everyone already knows how spot-on it is?
He's been covered in a previous episode

This is great, but why no Jordan Peele as Obama?
Or Baldwin's terrible Trump?
good call.
Or Azerrz Obama, I mean it’s not in a movie but his is so good
Especially when Obama himself called it the best impression.
or Donald Glover? "bitches be trippin"
I would love to hear his opinion on Christian Bale's performance in Vice.
And Sam Rockwell, also in Vice
George Washington had extremely painful dentures that he wore all the time. Added with the fact that he didn’t want people to know he was missing teeth he would not open his mouth very widely as to not show his dentures and to avoid the pain. It’s also why he’s often shown frowning in paintings because he was constantly in pain.
he also often is shown frowning because he had to actively hold his mouth closed because the dentures would basically pop his mouth open.
Yup and he also was insecure about his breath so he chewed on mints , drank mint green tea and brushed his tongue with mint leaves
@@Chuck_EL I’ve read a few books on Washington now and insecurity seems to be a common theme for him. No doubt in part to snobs like John Adams who looked down at those who weren’t formally educated.
I had no idea how interested I am in this subject until I saw these videos. Kudos, and please keep them coming. Absolutely fascinating!
Gilbert Gottfried's impression of Lincoln is perfect 😂😂😂
I was really hoping to hear his take on Sam Rockwell's W in Vice.
Katie Gietzen, me too! He was sooo good in that movie.
Yesss
Sam Rockwell is honestly amazing in everything. Mad respect for the guy, a real stand-up good person too.
basically another SNL sketch
Me too!!! Can we have a follow up?
“He had really bad breath... and we can see and hear those things.”
🤣
Hard to think of someone of George Washington's stature with bad breath, but the rationale for this argument makes a lot of sense.
Erik Singer's videos on here are the entire reason I subscribed

Lyndsey Allen this comment is severely underrated
Lyndsey Allen
He is a perfect creation; sculpted by the gods themselves.
I would only object to "Never mispronounce anything."
I'm amazed that he explained what George Washington sounds like
It's based on what people who knew wrote how he spoke
14:18 "the vowel sounds in _me_ and _too"_
You're savage Singer, totally savage.
He has it coming though.
this comment is underrated...good catch!
please get this guy to breakdown Zac Efron's Ted Bundy
Ant (mrheavyhand) YES! I didn’t even think about that! That would be fantastic.
Would love to see a linguistic breakdown of serial killers
Why? It sucked.
He didn’t really sound like Ted he just looked exactly like him
Please do natalie Portman's jackie! It is absolutely incredible!!!!!!
Way too excited! Anyone else rewatch the other videos constantly hoping they'll put out another one?
Kennedy really is the most difficult person to impersonate. He likely has the most well known and iconic voice.
Yes! But at the same time he sounds kinda normal hence its hard haha.
It's that accent that makes it particularly difficult
I've never seen Gilbert Godfrey and Abraham Lincoln in the same room at the same time. Makes you think.
The editing/bit selection as a response to what Erik is saying is perfect.
I was just marathoning all his other episodes and they come out with this one! What sweet coincidence!
When he said “hoarseness” I thought he was talking about “horse-ness.” Needless to say, I was confused for a good minute wondering where the horses were.
it’s interesting how so many presidents have such unique voices
Every person has a unique voice
That guy is a genius. Having Chevy Chase and Gilbert Gottfried in here, even if he's extremely precise on everything else, I love it.
no ones talking about Obama saying "aussie! aussie! aussie!" and having the military say "oi! oi! oi!"
its me madi what exactly is concerning you?
Rip
Dark Arts Dabbler It’s a derivative of “Oggy Oggy Oggy (oi oi oi)” which is a British footy & rugby chant. It’s far less known that Australians use their modified version for sporting support as well so OP was just pointing it out as an awkward/comical mistake which, understandably so, is what I think they took it for.
That's how an Aussie would respond automatically
I like how they make the move characters respond to things he says
Jimmy Fallon has huge hands. Threw off the whole impression for me.
honestly jimmy fallons face is so much bigger than trumps. the eyes, the mouth, etc.
I'd like to think that at 14:18, pointing out the pronunciation of the words "me" and "too" in reference to Bill Clinton was the most brutal but subtle burn in history.
My god, Bryan Cranston's LBJ was almost eerie.
Really showing how great of an actor he really is
He's so versatile... not many actors can shift back and forth so easily into comedy and drama like he does. A likeable guy too.
