He shot a massive round at distance. Use a hotter smaller round and get better shot placement. There’s no reason that deer should have had the time to even react to the shot
Had a buck do it at 7 yards. Hunting on the ground….Still plays back in my head 30 yes later! A deer coils all its muscles for the leap away from danger, and drops a full body height in 1/3 second! Impressive indeed
@mannyc8771 You trolling? He definitely heard the bow causing him to flinch. It called "jumping the string". Speed of sound is 1125 fps, the arrow or "bolt" is around 300 fps.
True story. One night while driving in NH, a deer got spooked from the noise coming from the reefer of my truck. I saw it to my left with another deer and when I got closer they both ran off in the bushes which was the smartest thing to do. But for whatever reason, one turned back and ran towards me and ran in the lane I was traveling in front of the truck and right when I was about to hit it, it shifted it’s rear end to avoid getting hit and ran in the bushes and disappeared. I have never seen anything like it. The amount of athleticism and focus it takes to do that was impressive. 😅
Your correct I always forget that , when head is up . Man I get so shook up o always freak out . Now here is the real problem, I wouldn’t know I missed without the camera . Getting the footage it really helps.
Wow that deer and his reaction time is just amazing. I've never seen a deer duck an arrow or bolt like that. Makes me think this deer has been ducking slugs all season every season.
40 yards is long for me. People make that shot all the time , im a 25 and in guy . They can here that arrow coming! It’s so loud I hid like a idiot and my buddy shot a dozen arrows past me ! Louder then you think .
Start hunting from the ground and in cover. You will see a drastic change in deer reaction to an arrow traveling parallel to ground and coming at them than from above
Quick tip with a 50 pound compound you’re not gonna wanna aim dead on where you’re shooting. You’re going to want to drop your aim by 2 inches guaranteed shot when he drops.
Everyone saying the bow is super loud, it may be a little loud but it could also very easily be echoing in a box blind. Cameras really pick up that noise and box blinds really make the noise echo so it’s probably not actually as loud to the deer as it sounds in the blind/on camera!
THANK YOU! Finally someone who put some thought into it. Yes it was a crossbow . Braced on the window ceil with the camera right beside it on fourth arrow camera arrow. You can clearly hear the echo reverb thru the 6 x 6 shooting house. Thank you for the comment and watching
As a new bow hunter the best tip most guys tell me is to aim slightly lower to anticipate the drop, always see if the deer is already on alert or calm to make said decision
When the deer is eating, aim in the open air below the heart, maybe 2 inches below chest. 1.) By reflex, when their head is down, they have to lower themselves to start running. But if the head is up, they will use their back legs to Jumpstart. 2.) "Bhweeer" , then shoot. Lol (In the video, notice the small black rock below him, if you aim at that when their eating, it's a score)
Always aim low with Whitetails. They are notorious for loading their limbs for flight. The slightest sound, such as the twang of a bowstring, will set them off. They naturally drop down to build the tension in their legs to spring away.
The speed of sound is 1100 feet per second, arrow speed is 280 to 330 give or take . Did the buck see the arrow? I think he reacted to the sound of the string, don’t you ?
That deer is an athlete. Body control, situational awareness, peripheral awareness. I'm impressed!
He was on point for sure. I couldn’t believe he could drop that fast but he did. Deer ninja.
That’s just deer in general man 😅
Once you've seen that in a real life hunting situation, you'll never forget to AIM LOW, to compensate for their ability to drop.
