GREAT video!! Lots of great information for new riders. Here's a few tips of my own: Ask questions before going on a group ride. Will there be stops, if so, how many and when? What's the average age of the riders? I find SOME young riders are looking to impress one another and aren't safe. It took me riding with several groups to find the one that has similar riding style and similar interests, in terms of destinations. I, also love riding alone but do feel safer in numbers. Very important to listen to your body, and ride your ride! Be safe, feel good and keep riding Roaddog!! ps I love your voice, great for Vlogging.

I got the Butt Buff and went on an hour and a half ride last Sunday to Boone, NC. It really helped with the Ryde (video posted). I did find out that it should not n=be left in the sun. When I got on Spyder to leave, it was very hot. I think you mentioned that in your review of it. Overall, it worked as you said it would. A BIG THANKS!

You got it, the key is listen to your body. I am fortunate to find a group that values safety and is very communicative of the ride plan step by step. But there have been a few instances where I and a couple of friends have broken off from a ride waving good by to everyone else because we were either too tired or wanted to rest up a bit. The best part of group riding to me is making new connections and forming small number of riding partners of say 2 or 3 that have the same understanding as you and ride with them more often compared to a large group. That is what I do mostly. Thanks for the mention and always do what's best for you.

My wife is named Vanessa also. Unfortunately, she passed away on July 3rd. I understand how you feel about riding with younger riders. I hope that they are taking consideration for the older riders in the group and do not mind making those stops. They are probably thinking the same thing, but you know how the younger riders are, they don't want to appear to be one to slow the group down. They are probably wanting to stop more than you do. I've always held to the philosophy that you should ride your ride. If you're in a group, ride your ride, not the groups ride. As you mentioned, some riders have years of riding experience, others may have only a few months saddle time under their belts. The very beginning of a group ride should pretty much tell you everything you need to know about how the ride is going to unfold. If that little guy on your shoulder whispers into your ear that this doesn't sound good, listen to him. Thanks for your honesty in sharing your experience.

I hear ya. I've been on unorganized rides which were a nightmare. Little to no communication and when you have clubs participating from all over, it gets big and crazy. I ride with smaller groups, many of whom are retired. I lead small groups about 6/7 bikes and we do 3/4 days. I ensure we stop for a coffee break every 1.5 hrs or whenever someone needs a stop for whatever reason. I brief the group on the ride destination and stops and have the gpx file if they so desire. At the end of the day, I just want to make sure we have fun and we all return home safely to our families. Peace out

Thank you for the video. I just took the beginner trike school 2 day class and we rode the Riker. We rode for about 4 hours off and on for the first half of the day and then had a class for about 4 hours with a test. On the second day we practiced for our skills demonstration ride and then rode 5 different circuits to graduate. Yes I had fun but about half way through the second day I was exhausted and my back was telling me that I had enough. I even took some Tylenol in the morning but it did not seem to be helping. I'm 73 and yes I passed the written and skills demonstration and received a motorcycle trike certificate to take to the DMV. Yes I'm going to go to the DMV to get my license but I'm not sure if I'll get a trike. I do not think my body will be able to cope.

These were the offerings he had at the time and said that I should come back after I complete my riders class which I will do. I'm still not sure about laying down around 25K for something I will only be riding a few months of the year. In my part of the country we have very hot summers (open the gates of hell summers) and a few very cold weeks in the winter where it is around 20F. I do stretching 3 to 4 times a week for my back. Dave, I’m 70, with both neck and lower back problems. The Ryker and F3 both have riding positions that seem to inflame both areas. The RT away the answer for me, especially the 2020 and up design. I did a few modifications that brought my shoulders into a more comfortable position and got a backrest that really helped. Thankfully, I’ve found the right combination of adjustments that make riding my bike a dream. Don’t give up on Can Am yet.

I was sort of hesitant about riding with a group until I joined a local Spyder group. I found that the group was made up of older riders who always made safety a key part of the ride; except for that one group. So, the key to group riding is finding the right group that you feel comfortable with. I have enjoyed the group rides I have been on. The main thing is to have fun and enjoy your ride. Ryde strong and Ryde safe!

If I wanted to ride with a bunch of people, I would have bought a bus!

I heard that! It depends on the group you ride with. I became very picky about that and just ride with my Chapter. Thanks for comment!

I personally wouldn't recommend group rides for any riders two wheels or three without having put about 5000 miles solo .I have been riding for years and still only ride solo .Over the years I have seen bad things happen to new riders because of group riding .I personally enjoy riding alone listening to music and enjoying the scenery .Enjoy yourselves and be safe out there 🙏.

Thanks for the comment. At first, I enjoyed riding solo. Then I saw group rides posted on UA-cam and it looked like everyone was having a good time. So I reached out to a couple of clubs and found a group that I was comfortable with, US Spyder Ryder Charlotte Metro Chapter. Have been on a couple of rides with them and have enjoyed it. They were well planned and not too long of a ride. I still enjoy getting out there solo and, like you, enjoying my music and the scenery. You Ryde strong, Ryde safe, and Ryde to Ryde another day!

Great video, sad that your grandson decided to leave you in the dust, not once, but twice. Not very considerate. I would say that finding some like minded people to ride with is always enjoyable, especially when no one is in a rush to get anywhere. It can be such a relaxing great bonding time. Enjoy that RT. So very jealous!

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. It is enjoyable to find someone like minded to ryde with, but it is also enjoyable to ryde solo!

Play me roll down get off work if you work it I take it every day sciatica is not a great big issue anymore there were times that I couldn’t put my socks on without laying down to do it but since I’ve been taking these turmeric tablets feel 89% better you’ll never get rid of sciatica but I promise you will make it a hell of a lot better

I had another viewer recommend turmeric. I have not tried it yet, but I did go to the chiropractor for several treatments that seemed to work. Have not had any issues since. Will keep that turmeric in mind should it flare up again.

Most Spyder group rides I’ve participated in have shown to not have any experience in group riding. They make it up as they go along. Need to learn how to do it. If there is no bike to bike communication then use hand signals to indicate a need to stop. The leader should explain the ride and ask if anyone would need to stop. msf-usa.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/AI4-pdf.pdf

The group I rode with when I had the issue supposedly had experience group riding. I ever rode with them before, but they belonged to a sister chapter. It was not a sanctioned ride. They had communications. I realized that I should have said something or signaled. It was a lesson learned. The group rides after that we’re great.
