i grew up with a copy of andrew lloyd webber's greatest hits, from variations , evita, song and dance, phantom of the opera, cats, jesus christ superstar, and then some. My grandmother played it to soothe me as a child .what could be better, and I'm not gay . good music is good music
I've always really liked this song, not to go into detail but I've had my fair share of dealing with someone who seemed ecstatic to bring me bad news...so...yea, this fits that feeling I always got perfectly.
I think this is quite an intresting song. I always thought if my friend was being cheated on i would tell her but (as this song says) who would I be helping? Intresting
@StrumTheSymphony The musical was originally named Tell Me On A Sunday, this was the title when Marti Webb played the girl. However, as it moved on the musical became Song and Dance, where Tell Me On A Sunday played act 1.
Great blues/soul song. Yes, this is blues and soul. Andrew Lloyd Webber is a great composer and he is responsible for merging classical music with blues, country, soul and rock 'n' roll. Of course, Mozart and Beethoven were doing that too - but the modern world forgot. Compare this song and Jerry Lee Lewis' "You don't miss your water" and you find out the similarity.
This is a lovely number and I always think Marti Webb was underrated and overshadowed by Elaine Paige, but she really brings feeling to this song. By the way, check out "Do Not Adjust Your Set" clips on UA-cam for early Monty Python members and the marvellous Bonzo Dog DooDah Band! Thanks for posting.
please, please could someone upload the wonderful "i'm not that kind of girl" album by marti. incredible and very underrated, my copy was pinched years ago.
This song gets better every time I hear it. Why can't modern singers be backed up by great instrumentation like this anymore? The latest Celine Dion song which youtube shoves down our throats is just so awful in comparison.
@cokieblume Though the lyrics suggest she wasn't really being helpful, just being spiteful (Take that look off your face, I can see through your smile)
A question for the "ladies" Is this how it really is for your "friendships" Do you feel good for your friends pain ? If so please inform me what "joy" you could get out of this?
Simply beautiful music by a fantastic singer. A great stage performer.
Wow these all comments are from very very long year ago wow.... I wish everyone being well.

The emotion she puts into this song is just amazing.
We all have "friends" like this dont we.
Love this song. I sometimes catch myself singing this.
Simply an amazing song!

I don't think Lloyd Webber has ever written a better song - fantastic, and Marti Webb is the ideal singer for this! Thanks for the post.
Don’t forget the lyricist Don Black

I love this - absolutely great. At 2:25, I would love to slap the person bringing me the news across with fish with a piece of wet haddock!

@JennyJakins And Tell Me On A Sunday is now a stand alone show so...sh-boom! Waaay! :)
@cokieblume Though the lyrics suggest she wasn't really being helpful, just being spiteful (Take that look off your face, I can see through your smile)
3 people are mistaken :)
Marti Webb does a great job on this but the instrumentation is equally awesome.

koi mil Gaya song
#sad
such a great song
@Plaxtonboi Monty Python reference? :)
hm. es gibt also verschiedene Versionen mit verschiedenen Texten...
I love the OTR version of this, and in my opinion, that one is much better than this.
phil spector meets Andrew Lloyd Webber

Could you explain that comment or is it just a comment that messures your level of intelligence?
The woman is singing about how her lover has been having an affair.
