Phil i heard you mention at the start only the mt-16 had diff issues...not entirely true...the diff's shat themselves eventually on the lime green raptor t-16 truggy I reviewed last year after about 4 full charged runs so its a common issue across all the models , even the buggy version
Awesome video I have already ordered the zd rocket just got the hbx truck last week and it's awesome luv the little truck is have a few 110 size rc cars with brushless motors race ready got the work done at a hobby shop over 750 dollars a piece in the 4 other cars and trucks and bought some drones From watching the videos first you made a awesome video great work just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you do I used to only shop with Amazon now I order with bangood luv there products it takes a little longer to receive the things I ordered with bangood but it's worth it thanks again and keep the great work up Mike holden out of North Carolina said that
Hmmm, HobbyKing used to have 1/16th twins; A "Mad Bug" (VW Beetle) and a Pickup. Same vehicle different bodies. They ran them as 4s. Twin 1500mah 2 cell packs in series. They looked VEERY similar to this car except they would actually DO that 50-55 kph. LOADS of fun. We have the Beetle and it just keeps on going. Hangs with our 10th scale bashers with NO problem at all. It's actually my youngest son's favorite to run. No driveline issues at all either. It has been by far one of our most reliable RC vehicles and definitely the best vehicle we every bought from HK. HobbyKing most of the time just rebranded other's products - granted with some changes of their own thrown in - so I've been trying to find where the buggies and trucks came from to purchase another. You may have it right here!
Great review, Phil. And thanks for taking the diff out at the end. Yeah, looks about the same as the MT-16 (my diffs also gave up on that one after 5 minutes) ... so sad ... seems ZD Racing is one of those that do not watch tests and UA-cam at all ... or just don't bother about negative feedback at all. Would love to see you run this some more, and see how the diffs hold up ...
Yes agree. The Diff issue was noticed by a few of us! As you've seen, I took this to the skate park also, and have had it out after then as well. All still good.... maybe I'm just lucky on this one!
surprised the diffs held up on that rough ground, its possible they used the same parts but modified (or recut new) the casing mold so the planetary gears are meshed tighter to the output bevel gears... it'd *look* identical with tighter tolerance preventing failure. a year ago I was shifting plastic ring gears and shimming input bevel gear bushings in the WPL axles similarly when assembling, they held up a lot longer for doing it. for diffs, old school Tamiya Hornet had/have some pretty large beefy plastic planetary gears, sometimes they'd fail for the big gear holding the planetary's getting cracked, usually to the big heavy wheeled LunchBox with its higher torque smaller pinion gear.
Diff problems are the absolute worst! I normally fix all my RC vehicles but when they start having diff troubles, I tend to give up on them. It’s not like other parts that can be easily upgraded.
Very nice truck, the video very nice and honest. This model is very nice to me. I have one 1/10 and very decent, just like to know the mistery of the ZD diffs. Have a Great weekend Bro!! Thanks for share!! Big like!!
Good honest video as always, thanks 👍. I'm glad it held up to your expectations but kinda bummed to find out it has the same diff as I just won 1 off ebay about 2 days ago for my nephew's birthday. I thought they might've upgraded the diff on the brushless version. Oh well, luckily I managed to get it for $60 shipped, lol. Keep the fun videos coming, lol
Thanks for the video(im from Spain). In the end I bought it. But I have two doubts, the first one, I don't know if it is normal, when I action the trigger for reverse, I must action it twice for the car to respond, is this normal? Is this a security system to prevent sudden changes of direction(forward/backward)? The other question is: having the receiver and ESC integrated, can I change the transmisor using the same stock ESC? thanks
I just purchased the hbx black and orange it's fun super fast little brushless truck I'm thinking about ordering the one you just done a review on it seems nice if have never had a 116 truck or car first time I have ever done business with bangood got truck in one month for 80 dollars shipping in all if I order this one I'm gonna pay 20 dollars for ten days delivery it's worth it to not have too wait 40 days luv the size of the small ones great video what's your opinion on ordering it complete 10 day delivery only 119 dollars for it all any information would be greatly appreciated Mike holden out of North Carolina said that
I just re'd my Red DTK16. Noticing that the WHITE rims are not what is pictured on the box or listing on BG. I do like the 5 hole style better but was liking the "Bigfoot" tread style and same rims seen on the ZD 16427(rear wing version) Weird how ZD is all mixed up in their products. Has anybody upgraded with other 8mm wheels?
Just wondering how this has been holding up for you? Got one coming for review soon myself. Can’t wait! Great video footage as well! Keep up the great videos.
Yet Another epic machine from the famous zd broken . watch it run for 10 mins then spend a week finding the parts then a month waiting for them to arrive then watch it run for 8 mins then break again yee haa cant wait to waste my money on that
Ok, I am answering my own question here, but some people might want to read about this, so here we go: After seeing your videos this model seemed like a nice cheap RC, so I bought one - I am getting sick and tired of expensive shelf queens these days... Wow, what an incredible vehicle for the price! Easily my favourite truck in the sub 200 dollar category - yes, not just sub 100... It runs like a dream on a small 3S battery (fitted a fan on the ESC) - never really bothered with the standard 2S weakling... It's fast, it handles, it drifts, it bashes and, for the size, you can even monster truck it over obstacles. Great for both indoors and outdoors. Three 3S packs later and the diffs are still doing ok (stocking up, just in case)! What more can I ask for? Well, I d' happily pay 10 dollars more for a better radio, but that's nitpicking. Thanks for your reviews - nice video!

Good info to know. I’ll be running. A few packs through this, see how it fairs
Thanks for mentioning this.
Sorry, don't know what it means: "diff's shat themselves"
@@TomleyRC How did the diffs hold up after running a few more packs through it? Still fine?
Is there some upgrade Diff for that model?
That solve this problem.
Little bugger looks fun. That wheelie shot in slow mo was cool! Thanks ✌️
Cheers Rick
You Always Find the Little Rockets!! Might get this one?! 🤗😎

Nice little buggy. It reminds me of my old Losi Mini-T that I converted to brushless back in the day (only a little bigger and more controllable).
Certainly a bit of a rocket.... not to fast, but fun

Good point. They ‘may’ have done something. I might take it back out and see if I can shim it
If it wasn't 1/16 I'd think about getting one, but the size limits the fun. Love the look of buggy's like this one. :)
Yeah, looks nice. Be good if they made a 1/8 scale!
I am also impressed

Yes, these are really easy to change and only $5 for a new one
Just recently bought the zd rocket thanks to your great videos job well done Mike holden out of North Carolina said that
Thanks Mike. It's a decent truck. I have another video of it coming this week.
NIce video Phil, keep up the good work!
Thanks 🙏
Another one to add to my list, great review.
Thanks mate
Really like the low centre of gravity on this, looks like it should jump well ??
Also really like the light bar, and sensebly placed as well !
Yes, seems to be very well balanced 👍🏻
It will probably be the only thing that still works after its 4th battery thats if it hasn't fell off
good job on the review once again, I did not see the link for the gps you mentioned? thanks
The link is there dude. Last one in the description
Well done nice video
Thanks dude

I think the diff issue is just the 1/16. Will give this a few more tests. Thanks mate
Looks like a fun lil buggy them shocks tho wow really nice for stock
Yes, really well balanced
That's an impressive 'lil buggy, Phil! I particularly like how well damped the suspension is - rides the bumps like a pro! :))

I ran another battery through it today, held up well, and lasted a whole skate park run.

I always pay for the fastest delivery possible. Also worth looking to see if it is in the US Warehouse. www.banggood.com/marketing-Local-Warehouse/
Which is more fun factor zd or fy8?
I’d have the FY08 (with a Lipo)

If I wanted to buy the DumboRC Radio, would I be able to pair it easily with this car?
You’d need a transmitter & receiver, but should be ok
@@TomleyRC Thank you.
Seems to be a good little buggy 👍
Not bad
ZD Racing have built a good buggy here !
Yes possibly! Will give it a few more runs to properly test it

Fantastica
Just wondering how this has been holding up for you? Got one coming for review soon myself. Can’t wait! Great video footage as well! Keep up the great videos.
Seems to be ok... only had about 4 packs through, but holding up!
👍
Hello,
Do you know if it is possible to reduce the speed, in order to give it to a child ?
Yet Another epic machine from the famous zd broken . watch it run for 10 mins then spend a week finding the parts then a month waiting for them to arrive then watch it run for 8 mins then break again yee haa cant wait to waste my money on that
Well it was ok after 10mins of running. My MT16 lasted about 5 lol
Fantastic little car, dude! Looks awesome! 😃
Are you going to torture test it in the skate park?
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Uk skate parks are still currently closed under CV19 lockdown protocol, but would be good to see it fly !
@@krgoodjohn Oh, I see... 😕
But yeah, absolutely! 😃
Maybe 😅....
Looks to be not a bad little car Phil.
Yeah not bad, as long as the gears hold up 👍🏻
Question: Will this run on 3S (and a 5V fan on the ESC)?
I expect so
@@TomleyRC I don't know if the ESC will go into high voltage safety mode or not. I am pretty sure it will take the pressure with a small fan, but...

Raxis Epitropou Good to hear some feedback from others on this. Mines still going on as well. Perfect for the garden 😎
How I wish I could have that.
I like the look of this 🤤
lots of plastic for the price point though 🤔
You'd think a brush less rig would be laced with metal.
Yeah, although plastic will flex... so sometimes a bit more durable
great video, like, my friend)
Thanks mate
how to put the wheels
Shame these are known for breaking down. Seems decent otherwise. Probably better to spend your money on something more reliable like a WLToys.
Yeah, hopefully they have made it a bit stronger, even if it doesn’t look it. More testing needed to check it properly
Which model WLToys? Anything specific?

Cool, but those wheels look super cheap
Nice tyres though
Thats rc Mini Buggy has Power. Bad the disign Not nice.
99$ for 20 mph? Doesnt sound to good especialy for bl
A $250 Brushed slash will give you about 16-18mph. So compared to that it’s good value lol. Remember it’s only a tiny 370 sized brushless, geared low
It's much faster on 3S...
Guess im first
