    Probably should add that I prefer the Vulcan (when in the mil as a replacement for the PLCE too) for bushcraft as I'm a bigger guy, so larger sleep systems and XXL clothing takes a lot more space. Really struggle with anything below 50 litres. They come in 1, 2 , 3 and 4 sizes too. Huge advantage if 6ft 2+.

    • @RedBranchBushcraft
      @RedBranchBushcraft  2 місяці тому

      That would help , size really ramps up when winter sleep systems are needed

    I have the Centurio 30 with the zip on side pockets. Turns into a 50 liter which is nice. On the down side I find the shoulder straps much less comfortable than my Karrimor packs. By a lot. and the top flap pocket has the zipper on the front side (like yours) which is unlike any other pack and not better at all. I much prefer the zipper on the harness side. With this pack it is pointing downward so that if you forget to close the zipper small items can fall out. Otherwise it is very well built. No problem there. I am glad that you enjoy yours.

      Cheers buddy, great packs , do you find if bulky as a 50 liter?

    • @TheToscanaMan
      @TheToscanaMan Місяць тому

      @@RedBranchBushcraft a little bulky. The trick is to not overpack it with too much weight. I use the side pouches for lighter stuff like jackets or sleeping bag. Too much heavy stuff in the side pouches and it feels clumsy. I enjoyed your review. I used to have the 45 liter Karrimor Sabre but gave it to a friend who was deploying overseas. He loves it. Thanks

    Cool bag that Wooly!
    It's rare to find a smaller mil-style backpack with that front opening feature on it.
    One of my bigger rucksacks has it and its an absolute game changer! So much easier for grabbing stuff out the bottom of the bag when you need it.

    Great mid size for sure. Still can't beat the pack this was derived from tho imo. The Vulcan. The Vulcan will compress down but will carry humongous amounts of gear if needed.

    I wish savotta had size between jääkäri M and jääkäri L that was like jääkäri M just 45L as standard without a roll top

    • @TeurastajaNexus
      @TeurastajaNexus 2 місяці тому +1

      But why? The size can be adjusted with the straps and the size difference is already quite small, so it would make no sense to make another rucksack for that difference.

    • @michaelkeller5008
      @michaelkeller5008 2 місяці тому +2

      Advantage Jääkäri: you can easily overload it into a 45L-version... I'd wish their prices'd come down a little - sure, it's 1A-quality, but they're just too expensive (and you need to buy the alu-frame additionally)

    I think most of us look what's out there and get a pack.. l got the Lowe Alpine Sting (new unissued) and it's been brilliant. I got the Karrimor Sabre 45 with pockets for my son and it's brilliant too. If somewhat dearer.
    Now we've got these, we're not going to change..
    Every week some one comes out with a better pack. But most don't do much more than ours.. and some are crazy expensive..

    I gotten me the Centurio IV 30L bc of a great offer with the two sidebags; NOT BAD, but:
    - no pals-webbing at the bottom thus no way mounting stuff below the bag. think sleeping- and bivy-bag with an isomat rolled together
    - no compression-straps. these "sidemounting-ones" (btw try to find swiss surplus-straps; "Feldgrau" (green), but they fit perfectly and are WAY bigger than what Berghaus supplied (and you can retrofit them onto the Centurio) - also switzerland uses INXS, so you retrofit the availability of using these clamps, too
    - for the small bags: waist-belt isn't removable; if you travel light, it is just in the way...
    - (no pals on the waist-strap to mount some bottle-bags if you use the camel-compartment for something else)
    (same goes btw for the 90+20 from dutchland i gotten me recently)
