There is a distinct lack of information on this particular topic, both online and in video form. Thank you for bringing this information out of obscurity.

Fun fact about mushroom harvesting is that you can indeed take the whole thing and it will be just fine because the mushroom is just the reproductive part of the fungus. The actual main body of it is underground in the soil and it isn’t exactly small or something you can take home. Many species of fungus live on the roots of plants as part of symbiosis. So it is completely fine to just take the mushroom you don’t need to leave a part of it in the soil to “grow back” because it probably won’t. If you want to spread the spores you can as those are contained in the gills of the mushroom and are so small you need a microscope to see them. A little shake of the mushroom will be enough to move those spores though. I just thought this may help some people. Happy harvesting

Ooh that is so interesting, I didn’t know that! Thanks so much for sharing 💚 And I will definitely be trying that to spread the spores next time I forage 😁

Thanks for the nice captions but what is with the random numbers occasionally interspersed? They look like timestamps maybe?

No problem, glad they were helpful! 😁 Yeah it’ll be time stamps, sorry there’s been an issue atm with UA-cam syncing my captions correctly so I had to include time stamps and it must’ve left some of them visible 🙈

This is a really excellent service, because I agree with you- if I have to prioritize care, my silver sword gets the care. Thanks for doing this!
Edit: Also, obviously important to understand one’s sources.

No problem, thank you for watching! 😊💚 For sources I used the IUCN red list, a lot of research papers from various universities (I always find the uni of North Carolina and also Pakistan to have excellent botanical research on plants that are hard to find info on if you’re ever trying to find horticultural info) and also information from some conservation groups and the RHS

I used to have a Wollemi pine (not actually a pine) but I accidentally murdered it 😩😩😩 It’s only known from a very VERY small population in a series of canyons in Australia. I’m still sad that I don’t have it anymore…

That’s so cool, I haven’t heard of it before (I’ve had a look online) 😁 So sorry that it died that sucks, but at least you got to experience it and maybe in the future you’ll cross paths with one again and get another try 🤞💚
