What a wonderful interaction between the Dame and the Gent.
It doesn't matter what she talks about, she's a badass.
Stephen was actually nervous when greeting her. They are so lovely!
Dame Helen is simply a marvelous women and such a talented actor 💕💕 i truly believe it's impossible to dislike her
Dame Helen is truly such a lovely and talented actor. She's truly a treasure ❤
Even that brief scene is powerful. Two brilliant actors. Mirren and Sutherland. Wow.
She is the very epitome of grace and charm... A true Icon...
I really enjoy watching their chemistry.
They are so in love with each other :D
Helen is a living legend!
Ah, our Dame Helen. Never fails to delight. What a great lady.
Wow! You are wonderful Ms. Mirren in your acting and how you conduct yourself and what you wear. Thank you for being such a model for others.
Dame Mirren, international treasure.
What a treat to see these two together! Dame Mirren and Stephen Colbert would make a great duo in a movie!
Oh Helen i admire you so much....you're Just adorable and an incredible woman...all my respect from Argentina.
I adore Helen. She is a delightful person.
I love watching them yes-and each other at the start of the interview
Helen Mirren’s laugh is so pure
If you have not seen her in The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover it is a must watch. She is superb.
Dame Helen Mirren is so talented and classy and so beautiful ❤
This movie clip is beautyful, she's so gentle and kind, jz
I love that they admit that poignant, exquisite, and charmingly human things make them cry. Me, too.
HELEN IS JUST SO BEAUTIFULLY TOUCHING HEART SPIRIT 🌹❣️💕😌🌹... SOFTLY SMILEZ...
Love Helen Mirren and her art~
Tears at the end of "Home". Guts me every time
THIS WOMAN IS A TIMELESS CLASSIC BEAUTY 😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love Helen Mirren , she is always a class act !
such a great energy throughout the whole show, love it..
Classy and stunning. Helen Mirren is a legend. I look forward to seeing The Leisure Seeker.
Helen MIrren could sneak into the royal wedding disguised as Queen Elizabeth. The First or the Second. She's been pretty convincing at both . . .
Speaking of legends, Donald Sutherland. My God, what a long career, and iconic movies he's been in, his signature acting style, and his distinctive voice.
It would be so awesome if he was a guest on Late Night with Stephen. A boy can dream...
I really enjoyed this one! Amusing and sensible, really a great lady.
That brief scene on the bench was enough to make ME cry.
I don't say this often, but Helen Mirren is wonderful.
Oh my god that movie clip brought back some intense flashbacks to my grandparents :(
my favorite quote in the whole world, that one. when it happened in dead poet's i got the chills.
I love you Helen Mirren!
She's a Dame.
She's a great Dame!
elzeus13 ...there is nothing like a Dame!
Does she have a sword though?
elzeus13 you’re dad gay
"...nothin' in the world..."
She is hard - rocking those smile lines too, no botox for a woman as classy as her! And she is as witty as ever.
her outfit is amazing, that lace collar, perfect
What a lady. I would love a dinner with her and to watch her talk.
She has always reminded me of a Thee Queen she holds herself well
I am from Charleston, but lived for several years in Myrtle Beach. I can't believe Helen Mirren said "Myrtle Beach".
Hellen Mirren is one of the most beautiful senior citizens Ive ever seen!
Such a legend
love her
she did not kiss him again, very disappointed :(
see the other video where she reads the poem ;)
Patricia Hiddings ahhh yesss, thank you!
#timesup
I think that was the hottest onscreen kiss, I've ever seen. She owned everything, when she did that.
Thanks for the heads-up! I'll look for it.
Just that clip made me cry. Damn. I have to watch this movie.
“Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”
Such an elegant lady. A true dame.
British excellence! 🙌🏼
Once you've watched Caligula, You can never forget Caligula
out off 5 stars, where would you rate it?
aishx or Excalibur
the sad thing is that 1) this is so true and 2) the reason I (and many others) have watched Caligula is because people say you can't unsee it. we doom ourselves
yes, but you want to.
peru - don't bother. It's not even good porn.
She is so lovely.
Lovely.
I have the footstool in my bathroom that she used to have her feet on when she worked as a cashier in the Everyman Cinema in the 60s
I love, love, love Helen Mirren and Stephen too...... Lady Dame
Wish more actresses were like her.
Helen was SMOKIN" HOT about 35 yrs ago and still steamin' after all these years...nicely done mam:)her nick name was probably "Helen Wheels":)
What a sweet lady.
this video made me cry
What a beautiful interview. Stephen handles comedy with a great air of dignity, avoids crass for thoughtful. Makes great comedic choices too. Well done again.
She is a wonderfull women and famous actress she have my respect
Nessun Dorma- makes me cry. Every time.
As much as I love her, this is one movie I will skip. My mom has Alzheimer's and I know all too well what her character means. My mom thinks I'm her mom, her sister, my sister...rarely does she know who I am. As much as I've learned about this disease in the last two years, I hate it. I hope everyone sees this movie though. It's important for everyone to see what this disease does.
The little dance she did lmao!!!!
Oh dear god she is ridiculously fabulous.
That scene from her new film made me cry. "I want him back". She's lost the man she loved, and the man standing in front of her is a stranger.
I Speak My Truth which Film is that? I'm curious to know what Film that is that you are talking about?
Same here. Anything related to alzheimers make me cry.
The Leisure Seeker. Her latest movie.
Every time I watch Excalibur. . .
“Alright, let’s do it for the web” ❤️
Saw that part first - now I get it! What a treat -
She’s so charming
"Ah'm from Chicago, see?"
😆😆😆
lazyperfectionist1 you dad gay
SHE LOOKS GREAT FOR HER AGE GOD BLESS HER I THOUGHT HER AND JANE FONDA BOTH LOOK FABULOUS, AT THE OSCAR PRESENTING TOGETHER, I PREY I LOOK LIKE THIS WHEN I GET 70 AND 80 AND 90 , THIS IS GROWING OLD GRECEFULY AMEN
How does one acquire a skirt made of the night sky though?
Kelsey Robinson
I know! Wasn’t it lovely?
Helen looking lovely.
Damn this Dame!
What a lovely woman
The audience doesn't know Caligula? Savages.
Mother I know!! Geeez
Your such an amazing talented actress. Let's talk about the famous men you met. Wow.
And apparently a Supreme Court Justice too. Rocking the Bader Ginsburg look, Dame Helen!
One in a billion.
She is in love with Stephen 😁
Who isn't?
Where beauty & elegance meet
one fine Dame love her!
Never mind Patrick Stewart's body (which is, indeed, excellent - as is his lack of hair!) Mirren has one of the greatest bodies ever. I first remember her in Greenaway's "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and her Lover" from the late 80s. About a year ago I started letting my grey hair come in and began cutting off the dyed stuff - Helen was a major inspiration. Ladies - step up and claim your age! I only hope I can be as amazing as Mirren is when I am her age :D You younger women can watch how Kate Winslet ages... don't cut up your face...step up! PS, tattooed thumb!
🎶it’s no royal wedding, but The Toledo Choral Society (Toledo, Ohio), which I’m a member of, is singing the song based on that Ulysses poem at a fundraising concert in June. Stephen if you happen to be in NW Ohio the 2nd Sunday of June I think I could get you a ticket. I’d even provide the tissues😉
Anyhoo, I was familiar w/ the poem but hadn’t heard the song previously & it’s quite the rousing emotional anthem of sorts.🔆
PS love Dame Mirren!
what a charming lady, i hope she gets/understands her little John cause she won't understand/get, and you know what they say, you get what you understand.
Elephant Man, for me. I cry three particular times.
I really want them to attend the royal wedding now!
A great academy award winning woman comes on stage. Stephen: "so, tell me about the famous men you knew".
I just thought to myself "Wow, all those lucky two-bit actors got to work with Dame Helen!"
that entrance, I didn't know what expect after she kissed him before
Helen Mirren is a goddess
I cry during the alma mater at Clemson football games.
There is nothing like a Dame...
She is the granny everybody would love...
It seemed like he was about to comment that he thought she was doing a very bad southern accent, but then didn't when she clearly took it quite seriously ^^
She's a Class Act in Elizabeth I.
Colbert can interview anybody,
What a beauty 😆
I am rarely disappointed by Stephen, but his questions about her former leading men were a sad and frustrating waste of time in an all-too-brief interview. More questions about *her* would have been great - it's not like she doesn't have a lot of interesting things to say about her own work. Why ask her about men she's worked with? And if you're determined to ask about actors she's worked with - why only the men? She's certainly worked with some amazing women in films and in the theatre. This was surprisingly tone-deaf on his part.
She’s Beautiful🤓
You have a legend like Helen Mirren and you ask her about the men she worked with.
My thoughts exactly!
Don't comment.
While he may not be 100% perfect, if you knew this show well enough you might also know he's on the right side. Why try to tear down the people who are doing what's best, within the best of their abilities?? I also believe he was being fairly conscientious by actually ASKING her whether it was okay to talk about those men.
You might also take note that someone likely wrote these questions FOR him to ask...
You're just blowing smoke for the sake of upvotes.
You're really stretching to be offended here. They do a pre-interview and the guest dictates what they want to talk about.
Ramiro Cibrian Yeah, my thought as well. :(
