    ..........................................................................................
'Ghost Stations', the ninth studio album by Marconi Union, is set for release on 12th August 2016.
After fourteen years of writing and performing, the trio - founder members Richard Talbot and Jamie Crossley with keyboard player Duncan Meadows - are thought to be “amongst today's most talented musicians” (The Sunday Times). They have steadily developed and refined an unique musical identity; evoking emotions from gracefully blending elements of dub, jazz, ambience and electronica within their richly melodic compositions.
With ‘Ghost Stations’, Marconi Union’s music continues to straddle the worlds of artistic credibility and musical accessibility. They were not afraid to accept the challenge of making new music rather than just repeating their earlier work and were well aware of the risk of trying new things.
“People who have bought our previous records may think we've gone too far in this direction or that direction or that we don't do enough of some particular aspect anymore, but we've already done those things in our previous work and we have to keep pushing our boundaries otherwise what is the point? We want people to hear Ghost Stations and say “'What the f**k is that' either in a good or bad way!”

After 6.24 both the music and visuals turn absolutely soothing and calming and to some extent psychedelic. The music tends to simulate the sound made by a fast train while negotiating open vast swathes of Siberian plains during a gloaming night.

Reading the comments has helped me see the unexpected and profound effects this type of music and this song can bring about. One comment in particular expressed being calmed from anger. It's like instead of having someone to argue with and hurt it's like the voice of this song is a sponge for those type of emotions and I'd never really considered music having that power before. Thank you

I really really love Marconi Union, and I was downloading some new music today and thought "hmm, I wonder what Marconi Union is up to. I love their music and they haven't put anything out in a minute." so I go to google and search their name and they literally put this out TODAY. it was destiny

Ok. A confession.... I have always been in to 'heavy metal' music, not radio bands like Metallica, but the really heavy stuff like 'Vision of Disorder.' I have always attracted to the complexity in that type of music. The music on the radio is so simple, but the music I listened to was so complex. Most people couldn't get past the 'screaming' but it was incredibly complex if you listened. The drummers were doing things that were amazing. The guitarists were. everyone... It was music for people with ADD in a sense, because there were so many different things to focus on. Marconi is pretty amazing. The music is so simple yet so complex. The videos are mesmerizing. This has been a great find.

Larry Downard Try to listen Hidden Orchestra tracks. It could be a new discovery in complex music. Once I was at their concert and was surprised two drummers playing synchronously. It was amazing.

Larry Downard I can relate to what you have said a lot. I used to listen to the heavy stuff and in it I used to find a sense of calmness. nobody, even my brothers understood that. But as time went on, I realised it was more than the adrenaline and complexity of the music. I am yet to understand why this is so. I am yet to understand why I find this so beautiful

I'm with you all here.... even though I'm 56... diagnosed with ADHD two separate times in my life (just means to me that my brain is wired such that I can do things other types of folks struggle to... and visa-versa... hahaha).
      .
Struggled in school the first 12 years
Struggled at University until I found that if I put on headphones/earbuds, my cap, my hoodie (basically putting on blinders), played heavy metal music and allowed my legs to bounce or my hands to tap (although in public I was asked often to do it quietly)... I could read and retain like I never could before.
      .
Like you, the 'average' person could not relate.
Aside from Heavy Metal, Electronic music works great for my mind as well.
      Like Marconi Union and others.
      .
Oh... and also walking around the library barefoot (physical stimulation) while studying with my music on worked really well!

A word of caution here. I am a MASSIVE Marconi fan but this tune and album scared me, I did not like it on first few listens. Took maybe 15 or so listens and a couple of weeks. Now, 2 years later it is massively rewarding. An incredible piece of work, pure goosebumps. I have since met many people who say the same and like me claim this album is a masterpiece.

When I first heard this album I was not impressed. But as a loyal Marconi listener I went and bought it anyway... This album has grown on me so much that this work of art is by far the best I've heard above any other album to be of only 4 tracks. Each track is so complex and very effective at changing pace. I do poetic writing and my creativity effortlessly bleeds onto the canvas when I play this album. Extremely well done. 👌

I have quite severe anxiety and have recently having extreme anxiety attacks, and I've been suggested several ways to help calm myself down through therapy, and none have worked, and I've become very lethargic and I've started to give up a lot, I've convinced myself I can't get a job, can't make friends, can't leave the house because I don't want to have an episode. I really enjoy music, listening to the music i enjoy on a daily basis doesn't help me through my attacks anymore, the only thing that dilutes my worry is playing music and I can't play music out in public whilst dealing with my problems, the only thing I can think to do is try listening to music to help, nothing has worked. This is my first time listening to Macaroni Union, and I'm really hoping this works.

Rissa Virus have you tried CDB oil ? It calms down anxiety and its all natural too, and you can either take it orally , vape it , or smoke it . However vaping it or smoking it can help you feel the medicine much quicker rather than eating it . And cbd oil does not get you high it makes you relaxed and maybe a bit sleepy but that depends how strong the cbd is

Rissa Virus Therapy has worked wonders for me. I have managed to control my anxiety and panic attacks with breathing and cognitive therapy. Don't listen to the negative thoughts that take a hold of your mind and paralyze you. Tell yourself that everything will be alright and focus on good breathing techniques. Inhale for 4 seconds then hold for four seconds and then slowly release the air. Relax your body while exhaling. There is nothing wrong with you.

Nope. It was the song "Weightless" that produces the most stress reducing effects on the human brain.
"The most relaxing song ever is "Weightless" by the Marconi Union.
If you need to relax, try putting on "Weightless" by the Marconi Union. A 2017 study led by David Lewis-Hodgson, Ph.D., of Mindlab International, found that the tune is the "most relaxing song on Earth," reducing listeners' stress and anxiety by 65 percent. The song was so successful when it came to chilling people out during the study, that Lewis-Hodgson said, "I would advise against driving while listening to the song because it could be dangerous."

I like where their going with the "new direction" they speak of. I do think 'Sleeper' wouldn't sound that amiss on Telefon Tel Aviv's last, (and very underrated), album 'Immolate Yourself'. Of course it's the complexity, layering and intelligence that equates, binds them, I guess.
Weirdly, every time I watch/listen/digest/assimilate this song/video I get Blade Runner and LA Confidential vibes. Not just sonically, but visually and narratively too. A perfect marriage of neo-noir, si-fi and mystery, together with ambient, jazz and electronic. Sublime! Which makes me wonder what Maconi Union would do if they had scored the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, 2049 - Sorry Jóhann Jóhannsson (liked your Arrival score mind) - I can only imagine how that would have turned out!
Has anyone questioned why MU named this song Sleeper? Random question that's bugging my mind. Interestingly, the word Sleeper has many official (and unofficial definitions...UD.) I like, (and will settle for), an object whose true value goes unrecognised for some time. Though, an outwardly common looking item, that possesses something special or unique inside, comes damn close as a perfect definition for this song too. Will everybody be listening to this gem in 2049? Or shall we just quietly revel in this not "so obvious' perfection? You need to think about it! And therein lies the song's 'revelation'.
Whatever, Intelligence and talent is alive and well. And I want more of this! The future of Music?
