fun fact Kendrick was not aware about this performance Prince asked him to join him on stage so everything that you saw & heard was on the spot and they said that Kendrick was a bit nervous because we all know Prince is a big inspiration and knowing that, that makes the performance even more special.
That's crazy, I didn't realize this was 2014 2yrs after Good kid mad city. Prince didnt mess with just anybody. If he shared a stage with you you had to be special..wow
Prince was never not popping! My dad is white from norway and he said his dream concert was prince. Sadly prince never came back to norway after he said it.
Prince was always popular! He was never past his prime. Prince was one of the sexiest MFERS I’ve ever seen plus all the talent the man possessed. He’s a LEGEND!❤
I grabbed keyboard so fast when you said Prince wasn't poppin!! lol And when you said he was past his prime is false. He was better than ever!! people equate "prime" to sales and spins, but prime means you are on the top of your game musically. And he was at his peak at that time, and beyond.
in his interview with Rick Rubin, Kendrick talks about how he always wanted to use voice like Prince did in his own music. He was always inspired by Prince and to have met him and performed with him is just amazing. You gotta respect it
Prince was a damn good guitar player. I saw him at the Rock an Roll hall of fame ,when he played at the end , my guitar gently weeps and he made his guitar weep.
Back story: Prince was dropping 2 albums on the day this happened (Sept. 30, 2014) "Art Official Age" & "Plectrum Electrum". 2 celebrate the release of these 2 albums, Prince held a concert at Paisley Park streamed on Yahoo & invited Kendrick 2 perform. But 1st Kendrick was in Prince's studio 2 record "Complexion" with Prince on it, but Prince's imput never got on the song because Prince & Kendrick was in the studio talking about the subject of the song. But when it came time 2 perform Prince asked Kendrick 2 come perform that song "Whats My Name" (from the album "Crystal Ball") & Kendrick just freestyled his verses. Shortly after "To Pimp A Butterfly" came out Prince did an interview with a magazine saying "Kendrick has something 2 say & its pure. Plus, u aint taking 'Alright' off my Playlist". Even though Prince didn't get on TPAB, he loved that album.
Thats dope. I know prince didnt have love for most rappers because of the content. Kendrick does have the real shit from life shit to social commentary
Thats dope. I know prince didnt have love for most rappers because of the content. Kendrick does have the real shit from life shit to social commentary
1:59 8 years. 💔💜 I had to pull off the road when I heard on the radio. He has no comparison. His music saved my life. We will never see another talent like Prince. Genuinely.
That’s his band called Third Eye Girl- I got to see them with Prince a year before he passed away in Louisville Ky in a 2,600 seat theater. Best show I’ve ever seen……..PERIOD
A lot of people don’t know this exists. I discovered it several years ago. Only Kendrick out of his peer class could have out the audience and freestyle for Prince. I saw a video where Kendrick said he was nervous because he admired Prince so much. Prince was going to be on TPAB but it didn’t work out.
I've never seen this. It's so hard. Yes, I'm a prince fan. And Kendrick fan. KDot has done so much shit that we don't know. That Prince var hits even harder now
Love that music!! Love love the guitar. I was born in 57 and loved "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince". I remember when the movie Purple Rain came it - everyone I knew went to see that movie.
Yep...Kendrick had flown out to Prince's estate for a meeting in his studio...He wanted Prince to listen to a song and Prince asked him to fly out...During the meeting Prince told Kendrick he was doing a concert and asked him if he wanted to come along...Kendrick said yes...Kendrick was in the audience enjoying the show...When he was asked to join Prince on stage...Kendrick free styled his verse on the spot...The rest is history...
I’m surprised but yet GLAD!! that people are finally getting around to this video of Prince and Kendrick’s collab at Paisley Park. Prince was supposed to have been on To Pimp A Butterfly, but because of this performance, they forgot to record the song for the album. lol RIP Prince
He played keys on mob deeps thou shall not kill. Also strongest pimp hand in the game. Could sellout venues in 24hrs. Highest guarantee per show. Never fell out of favor. You can play each album all 39 back to back and none are sonically and artistically the same. Never repeated himself
Prince was a living legend a genius the man could play just about any instrument i grew up listening to Prince as a kid one of my favorite songs is party like it's 1999
Prince is ny favorite artist of all time. Loved this performance. On another note, I swear we need t-shirts that say "Drake could never - SK" I love when you utter that phrase lol
Prince was a truly amazing guitarist. But he could play all the instruments. Genius. Love to see these two together. How about a Jimi Hendrix reaction? Some consider him the all time goat.
sorry, my panties are in a bunch 🤩 Prince's latter concerts were all done for his fans and undisclosed charities. Also he was putting artist on game in owning their own shit. Masters! As he was and still is. But,,, I hear you youngster 💜
Prince was the only dude I know that was wearing high heels and a blouse but you knew he would take your girl!! An amazing artist for all time! I was just fortunate enough to grow up witnessing this dudes career from beginning to end!
I went to see Prince in concert on my 40th birthday and he was the best. He gave a great show and he didn’t want to stop playing the venue turned the lights on so we could leave. Prince performed about an hour after they had to put us out and he was still playing the guitar. I will always remember and love him.
Personal opinion? Prince was so many things to SOO many people! But the one thing HE wasn’t? He was no JUDGE! He KNEW he was REAL, FLAWS AND ALL! Kendrick has that GIFT too! The encouragement felt in Prince’s music, is similar to Kendrick’s pen, “ I “ ( just as one example ) At the end of the day, if listening to these two ARTISTS , help us look in the mirror, and realize we’re NOT too broken to contribute to bettering society, IS there a GREATER Gift?…nope t.d-Rogers
This was dope! I was blessed to go see Prince before and IT was the one of the BEST CONCERTS I’ve ever seen. Prince was AMAZING! I was a fan but he made me a believer and I was in High school at the time lol😂
I've been seeing some people say Kendrick can't carry a Super Bowl. That let's me know they are not real hip hop fans. The man is cold with it! This is so dope! ♊💜
#PRINCE was incomparable. He was also straight and got the baddest women. He dressed like a ROCKSTAR because he is one. #Prince IS the GOAT of all around talent!
Guitar, electric guitar, Oregon, piano drums, and many more many more do some reaction videos on Prince plus can sing at any active from baritone out to the highest soprano ever heard
His music saved my life. The teenage years were a mess. Now i can barely listen to anymore..so now im obsessed with Metallica and Lovecraft and GNR and Motley Crue.. Also the Prince/Motley Crue connection is crazy.….
The Prince was poppin more line was some of the cringiest stuff i heard he sound like Drake fans saying that. Prince WAS the trend & Prince was intentionally as he called it "not popping" becuz he was staying away from the mainstream audience. Prince didn't care about any of that world yet Prince's Tours were still some of the biggest tours ever, No one has still been able to beat his 21 nights at the 02 arena. Even MJ'S bodyguard said in MJ'S last days he wanted to break Prince's record. That tells you something. Prince wasn't obsessed with media & magazines he was creating meditation music, jazz albums & fighting for his rights & other artists rights. If Prince wanted to create radio hits he would've done so. We've seen him do it countless times in the 80's, 90''s, 2000's with Musicology. Even Prince's Musicology tour in 2004 did better than most of the poppin new artists. This is why MJ fans/mainstream bots always annoy me. Have you not learned from this Kendrick battle at all? lol Greater sales will never define the greater art & people who really love music can care less about sales. Prince was known to be a genius business man by literally the entire industry so he knew if he wanted to make radio hits he could cook up whenever. Prince wasn't interested in that stuff like THIS video proves that. Prince would literally work with youtubers that inspired him like Shelby J even if they had a hundred views. He loved music that much, so Prince was never doing things for publicity like MJ did. Prince also was known to turn down so many artists that could've made him "poppin" for that year Well if he cared for that why would he turn them down? Because artists like Prince, REAL artists can care less about "popin" & like Prince said "i am the touch" He created a lot of the music what we see today. People like Prince are forever current. That's why you see so many reactions from even my generation today on youtube. Prince played over 14 instruments, wrote ALL his music & hits for other artists. Could dance, sing, rap, produce, arrange, engineer his own work. Prince also woke up an ENTIRE industry of artists to own their masters. Alicia Keys, Nas, DMX, all have the same story of Prince telling them how to beat the corporations. Prince is truly the greatest & NO ONE touches him. Only mainstream bots & MJ fans start talking about "poppin" MJ literally had 20 producers/writers in different countries. His own nephews said that in their 3T reality show. That's why here Prince mostly stayed in the background playing keys. Prince let others shine & wasn't obsessed with fame & numbers. Even tho TMZ still followed him everywhere even in his ladder career. They were both geniuses with two different approaches to music.
I'm probably your mama's age, and I would have fainted before he could touch my hand! 😂 I don't go crazy over actors, musicians, or hot men, but Prince... oh, yeah! I drooled over him. Plus he was a musical genius. ❤
Great reaction as always man! Here is an interview Kendrick did that gives some background to this ua-cam.com/video/1Lh9ExTaz-A/v-deo.htmlsi=DiizeU7XkzyeJO6b . RIP Prince

Prince was still popping when he died, he played several instruments. Go Kendrick
Prince was never not popping! My dad is white from norway and he said his dream concert was prince. Sadly prince never came back to norway after he said it.
@@oppisjappatv172 Sorry about that, I did see him and it was great
Prince was 110% straight. Totally into the ladies.

I have that clip saved on UA-cam. I wish the video quality was a little better though.
A LOT...TOO MUCH! 💯
Prince been GOATED!!! Since the late 70s early 80s all the shit he’s written for ppl alone is crazy, playing all those damn instruments was insane
Prince did his iconic “Awwwa” ! Kendrick mimicked him on “Like That” with the Awww!

The fact Prince allowed him to perform with him says it all. Prince never liked to be associated to people he considered untalented.
I remembered this back then. I'm shocked that so many people didn't see this.
Drake's uncle, Larry Graham performed with Prince and changed Funk music.
It’s all connected
Prince has his own unique style. It was not influenced by Larry Graham, IF that's what you're saying. No shade to Mr. "1 in a Million" or Drake
Larry was Prince’s mentor
