Thank you for your demonstration. My late husband bought our Kenmore dryer in 1977 before we were married in 1983 and moved into this house. I’ve only ever used it to dry towels and sheets and meticulously clean out the lint trap each time and periodically use a wire brush designed to fit down in the trap. I also remove the “cage” over the vent cover on the outside of the house and clean out the lint. What I never knew was that the hose and pipe running from the dryer to the outside needs to be cleaned nor have I ever pulled off the back of the dryer. I’m fearless about trying to fix things myself so now I am going to follow your video and I bet it will be a shock to see how much lint is in there waiting to catch fire. 😳

I am delighted that the video helped. I am sure that you will or have already found plenty of lint in the back of your dryer, it's very good to get that out. Be patient with the vent duct work, is can be a nuisance to work with. Thanks for watching, JL.

Thanks for this, my drier has been smelling and I can see lint on the outside back so now I know I can fix the problem myself. I’ve had the back off once before to replace a fuse but didn’t realize there’d be lint buildup back there.

You are welcome. Yes, it is amazing how the lint can build up over the years. Take pictures as you go so you can see how everything goes back together. All the best on your project and thanks for watching, JL.

I have not replace the gasket yet! Though I really should...thanks for the reminder! You could probably find this gasket on a parts website. Thanks for watching, JL.
