Verneuil is a particularly interesting example. 8000 english against 15000 French, Italian and Scottish. Armour was so good at that point the longbows would be considerably less effective and a great amount of longbowmen was killed pretty much right in the beggining of the battle. Guess who still won? The French side lost around 8000 men while the English lost 1600. The French won the war because the English were starting to have political trouble brewing up which eventually led to the Wars of the Roses. Don't just throw all the French losses on bad commanders.

England lost all its french territories in the hundred years war, the norman french speaking revolutionized horse warfare, Napoleon had europe at the brink of defeat and together with american allies they defeated english troops in the new world. Also Tours & Poitiers. Recent losses in the french-prussian or WW2 doesnt mean that all their former victories disappear. Besides, they kinda won WW1 over the germans.

The unit combat mechanic is amazing, they can react when they get hit, sometime they gang up on a single opponent, they aren't standing still and being idle like Rome 2, sometime they perform the sync killmoves, even tho the old animations are pretty slow and goofy but the troops behavior is just fine. Medieval 2 surely know how to balance between the common attack n block with execution moves unlike modern total war games
I miss this engine. Comparing this to Warhammer atm. The combat lines and ranks that keep moving, pushing forward, falling back slightly depending on how the battle goes, the mobility, the collission, the sense of pressure and heavy feel of units and cavalry, as well as so much polish, formation control and so much more. Fucking hate what total war has become. I miss when the game was like this. Good video :)

The AI will send assassins to annoy you till you quit the game or just spam you for peace until you tear your hair out, or until you steamroll its empty, defenseless cities protected by a streamlined, easy and predictable garrison. This is legendary and very hard im talking about. I've had to include AI mods to just make this game playable and not toxic to my health due to boredom and horrific Assassination spam which is so insanely lackluster because there isn't even a cutscene anymore like in the old total wars (MTW II or Shogun 2 ) Simply said: I really dont know what you're talking about, sir.

Are you sure? I played this game alot when i was 12, and i remembered that dealing with the lines to push forward was a pain in the ass. Units wouldn't push and would stay just with the first line fighting. You were forced to use the move button for then to advance instead of the attack one.
I love how theres the awesome camera movement following the horses colliding, then when they collide, they just come to a dead stop like they hit a wall.

After a long and exhaustive search I've finally managed to track down this amazing piece of music! The track is called An Important Battle and it's from Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War.
Wow... I loved this battle. Right when you think one side will flee, it shows you fighters on that side kicking major ass. It sucks that there wasn't a winner. And I loved the music, sounds like it came from Pirates of the Carribbean.

yeah, I also thought people did that only when they saw enemy cavalry flanking their infantry or chargiing their archers. Otherwise can be the point of cavalry vs cavalry? Takes away the point of being a faster unit if you decide to charge on another fast unit head-on.
7:00 Now, that is just suicide. The line needs to be loose so that there is room for you to maneuver, as well as avoid being overwhelemed by bolts or arrows. That tightly packed formation would be impossible to maintain. It would be vulnerable to skirmishers, as well as to being outflanked, since it would be easier for the more graceful French troops to go around the English line. Only, it seems that the French troops are, too, stacked ontop one another. This would make the act of using your weapon impossible, since it would meet the person next to you, as well as lead to asphyxiation extremely fast. Both armies would have to stand their ground, as retreating would mean that their back would be open to attack from the other side. Eventually what would happen is that the two armies would suffocate, with individuals trying to abandon their posts by literally gutting their own soldiers in order to get out of the mosh pit.

Wow... I loved this battle. Right when you think one side will flee, it shows you fighters on that side kicking major ass. It sucks that there wasn't a winner. And I loved the music, sounds like it came from Pirates of the Carribbean.

That is a major over simplification of the Norman invasion. Normandy was a duchy you gave to Vikings so they would stop bullying you.

Why would heavy cav charge into eachother?
yeah, I also thought people did that only when they saw enemy cavalry flanking their infantry or chargiing their archers. Otherwise can be the point of cavalry vs cavalry? Takes away the point of being a faster unit if you decide to charge on another fast unit head-on.

We built America with the rest of the UK, we made each one of our Empires country's base to turn them into what they are now, look at it, each country ever ruled by Britain has done well for where they are located, Pakistan for instance is the most developed country in it's area, second to Iran. India. super rich capital, South Africa, only developed country in Africa.
