    I have played spades a few times but I want to be a beast & learn how to strategically win the game. This was EXTREMELY helpful. Thanks!

      By your comment I would have thought you were describing me playing last night...this vid...I'll be re-watching. It must be wretched to have to play a novice, but ...hope for quick learners 😆 I'm trying,

    I understand fully if you don't want to make a video on a gambling game, but I feel a fascinating card game of history is Pharaoh/Faro. The famous opera "The Queen of Spades" is even based around the game, and it was the main game of the American "Wild West" of the 1800s (not poker like many people assume). Even though the game is almost never played nowadays, I think it'd be an interesting video for historical curiosity.

    if you want to spice it up you can do whoever makes the highest bid can make their choice of a trump card whether it be hearts, diamonds, or clubs.

    I heard that they like to play this game at cookouts. This game is very similar to bridge. The one thing that bothers me about these type of card games is how the players now if all the players are following suit when should? Bridge and spades seem like games that can only be played professionally on a computer.

      It’s pretty easy to count cards and that’ll prevent someone not following suit.

    How do you score a team that scores more bags in a round for a total of ten, say a score of 240, with to TB of 9 and scores 4 tricks with 3 bags fo a total of 12 TBs? Thank you. Rediscovered this game after decades of playing it. Now, if I can only find some friends to play with me. Drat! Not too many out there. Still like Hearts and Pinochle

    • @GatherTogetherGames
      @GatherTogetherGames  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for reaching out! First, a team with 9 bags would have a score ending in 9. So, let’s say the score is 249 for the example.
      The 4 tricks with 3 bags equals 43 points for the round. Going over 10 bags loses 100 points.
      249+43-100=192
      The team would have 192 points with 2 bags. Hope this helps!

    Trick 4 return a heart as heart ace lead was likely doubleton

  • @noahdron6

    what happenes if person starting places a hearts then the next cant follow and places diamonds next places diamonds again and the next player places a diamonds again

    • @theonly1likeme
      @theonly1likeme 5 місяців тому

      The person who played the heart wins the book since that was what was played first. The only thing someone could have played to beat that heart is either a bigger heart or a spade. If it turns out the others played diamonds when they did have hearts in their hand, it is reneging and they will lose books.

    What is the point of the queen of spades or is that in hearts?

    • @dalej42
      @dalej42 3 роки тому

      That’s Hearts, 13 points in a game where you want to take as few hearts and especially not take the Queen of spades.

    It is not clear what is penalty for taking less as a team than bid. Is it -10 for each loss.

    • @coreyadams1982
      @coreyadams1982 3 роки тому

      If your team bids 7 then it's -70 pts. If your team bead 4 then it's -40 pts.

    How do you know what card to lead off with, with your non spade cards?

    • @teodelfuego
      @teodelfuego 4 роки тому +3

      If you have an Ace or King, play it first. The longer you hold non-Trump Aces and Kings, the more likely they are to lose to a Trump card later on.
      Afterwards, pay attention to what your partner played. If early in the game, your partner is unable to follow suit, remember that suit and try leading off with a small card of that suit to allow your partner to be able to win it wuth a small trump card.

    2:52 Why play the king of diamonds and not the queen?

    • @eljefe519
      @eljefe519 5 років тому +1

      Marky2325 King and Queen both have the same power in your hand. They chose to throw the King which makes the Queen the highest card in that suit. So no matter which they threw, they would still have the highest diamond left. I wouldn’t really bank on that Queen going around without being cut by a spade though.

    • @02SplinterCell02
      @02SplinterCell02 5 років тому +3

      By playing the King (and previously the Ace) it acts as a bluff telling opponents that he no longer has a high diamond card. Had he played the Queen (with the Ace previously being played), then opponents might suspect he could also have the King.

    This game makes me want to flip over the table when I’m playing. It just makes no sense to me, just like dominos. Blackjack and poker are much easier to grasp

    Why do you keep playing against your partner's hand? Your partner had the Jack of diamonds. there was no reason for you to play the king of diamonds

    nooo never play your king of clubs on an ace of clubs if you have in 5 clubs in your hand. that's a book and you lost me when you played your queen of hearts on that ace you keep that card because you lost 3 books
