This movie is way ahead of it’s time. I watched it today and it’s just as fresh as the day it was released. I was riveted all the way through, from the acting to the set pieces to the cinematography. So far… it’s my favorite out of 30 + noirs I’ve watched.
This is a film I have been aware of for well over 30 years and for many reasons never quite got around to viewing in spite of having many opportunities. I love the genre and I love that era of Hollywood so why It took me this long at 57 years of age to get around to finally watching Gun Crazy is beyond me. Watching for the first time at 2 am last Saturday/Sunday on TCM's VOD feature is one of my most memorable first watches ever. I too was riveted and amazed. Gun Crazy was a cinematic revalation for me that I will never forget.
0:31 one of my favorite endings to a movie. I didn't know that until the 3rd or 4th time I watched it. He cared enough about his friends to kill the woman he loved to spare their lives, fantastic.
This is holding up well on my first rewatch after viewing most of classic period canon. I watched this numerous times early on about 3 years ago, in not great resolution. It certainly holds up better than its more explicit copycat in Bonnie and Clyde. Try that on several rewatches. It seems dated af, and did little to propel the crime genre of the future, including but not limited to neo-noir.

Love Eddie even though his favorite noir is In a Lonely Place...lol
