I never comment on videos but I must here! Some of the people that are offering their comments on the KING must not be from Chicago! That guy has trained some for the best musicians to ever play for anybody, including myself! He plays with the anointing, unlike most musicians and that within itself elevates his gift! Please research this guy before judgement of one song!!!
This is my style of playin !!! ladw I gotta get on the organ RIGHT AFTER WORK...lol I love this Thank you sir. you gave some of us looking for our desire in style a good tutorial through just listening.... Its refreshing to hear some Good playin !!
@todd Washington you must dont know about ed showers do you?? Lol haha your resume cant even speak a volume like his. He has 40 years in the history of the COGIC church playing. He has been doing this since the late 70s
Too wide open on the draw bars. You have to build in a song. He got his own style. But way too busy and no where to build. Draw bars are like a house. You have a foundation and then you build by drawing more draw bars out. You don't start the song that way.
????? Huh???? Really??? He has no bass player and he is carrying the service by himself...this is call REAL church organ..playing organ in a band is one thing...in a Pentecostal church it's ANOTHER...why playing like this ain't easy
Okay then. Answer a question for me. What song is he playing? The guy can play no doubt however, if you can't tell what he is playing what good is it? Then he is wide open with the draw bars. Music builds as you play. lololol, He keeps touching them as though he can do something else with them. Once you pull them all out you can't pull out anymore. Furthermore, this is not a organ solo. I play without a bass player every Sunday. Nothing unusual about that. I don't exactly call what he is playing REAL church organ. I don't like to be critical of musicians because there is always someone better than you are but this guy is over the top for real. I am still tickled with him touching the draw bars when he has pulled them all out. WOW
+Todd Washington he is playing there is power in the name of Jesus, and bless that wonderful name of Jesus, ...like I said before...playing in a band and in a free flowing unplanned Pentecostal devotional service is a different animal...I have played in both extensively...there ain't musician rehearsals are you don't get to know what key a singer or impromptu singer is gonna sing in let alone know what they are going to sing..,smh..bro you don't know what you talking bout in all due respect...smh.. The people expect the music to be this colorful and expressive in this environment...
I am sure you can tell what the song is do to the fact they are singing it. Without someone singing you can't recognize the song at all. I have played at Pentecostal, Baptist, Methodist, and COGIC churches. I am fully aware of the music that is sung and the differences and how to flow in each service. What you call free flowing is basically congregational songs. Any MOM worth his salt that has played in services before can flow through them. To disrespect me and tell me what I know and you don't know me is ignorance on your part. If you can't call out what a musician is playing without hearing someone sing the song, it is not playing. There are a lot of musicians that can play, but you lose the essence of the song when you playing like he is. Too much. It's not an organ solo. It's alright to jam the song and put things in, that's cool. But I watched this video with several musician friends of mine and they all say the same thing. They are lost to what the dude is playing and he is way too busy. Everything doesn't have to be runs and crazy chords when you play. To some people that don't know music may think it is great but it takes away from the songs.
