So excited for these videos!! I have only been to New York once as a teen but it will forever be my favourite place in the world.
It will be fun to hear along the way if you visited some of the same places!
For anyone looking for a small gift for children while on vacation or an out of town trip, I think the best gift would be a pencil because it is easily packed in purse or luggage. It can be used for school and the kids know that you were thinking of them. It is a great reminder of your trip and I know that collecting pencils from where you visit would be fun to have and doesn't cost as much and take up as much room as other items might.

It's everywhere in Vegas. I dont partake, but you smell it everywhere now that it's legal here. To be honest, I hate it but it is what it is.

What a fun adventure and such a sweet gesture… and testament to the community you and Kevin have built ❤ Love the voice overs and the history/background you shared (ie about JFK, the Lincoln Tunnel etc.) Can’t wait for the upcoming videos! I love rubber ducks… always have… and would totally have fallen for those Statue of Liberty rubber ducks!!

What an informative and interesting video - I feel like I watched a documentary! I have never flown on an airline, much less been to NYC. I would be constantly on edge around that many people - but it would be a memorable experience!

NYC is the summer, whoo boy - hot and humid! New York City is my hometown, I grew up in Queens mostly, five years in Brooklyn.

This was such an awesome surprise. Your room really was big! Like you, I expected it to be smaller since real estate is such a premium there.
I thought for sure it would be small.
We went to NYC and took the $16 tunnel/bridge a few times, once I recorded it and I believe it was right at 5 mins long going a steady speed. Not sure how fast, my husband was driving 😊. We absolutely LOVED NYC!!

I am so excited to follow along on your New York City vacation trip. I have taken several family trips there over the years and even stayed at the same hotel but way back in the 80's😅

What a fun vacation so far, and what a sweet and generous gift from your subscriber :). NYC is really a place unlike any other, glad you're experiencing it together and enjoying yourselves! I laughed when you were mentioning the bottle deposit and separate bins- I don't ever remember a time here in Canada when there WASN'T a bottle deposit, bottle recycling to get your deposit back has always been a thing here, too funny to think about the differences in things like that. And the bins too- I was just at the grocery store before I came home to watch this, and the bins outside the store had at least 4 sections- garbage, drink containers, plastic or cardboard. Apparently we take recycling very seriously around here haha :).Maybe you can come visit Canada one day, that'd be wonderful!

That’s the bottle deposit I was explaining. You get the money back if you return them. We took the train into NYC which wasn’t too bad. I’ve flown through JFK for international travel and I hate that airport 😅Times Square was too much for me lol. I don’t like crowds, but there are lots of cool stores and such.

Been to New York over 30 years ago and what an experience that was 🗽 I’m not a fan of staying in a high rise 😵💫 above 10 floors. I really enjoy your travel vlogs.
It surprised me how fast I got used to it.
Unfortunately the Carlo's bakery cakes sold at Walmart and in the vending machines are frozen and thawed. Those are going to taste different than the fresh from bakery ones😊
Oh, I’m sure. The cake slices we reviewed actually came in the mail, but we enjoyed them.

Be lucky you didn't get stuck in the Lincoln Tunnel. We were stuck in there once for hours.... (Can't remember why though since it was a long time ago.)

I can’t imagine being stuck in that tunnel for hours. I think I would freak out. I don’t even like being stuck under a bridge for a few minutes in traffic 😄
@@TamiDunn It was SO unpleasant... We were all basically trapped since turning around wasn’t an option 🙃
Anytime I go through that tunnel now, I hope to god there isn’t a holdup.

Tami, you said you are deathly afraid of heights, so am I. How do you stay calm when flying? I flew all the time as a kid/teenager but nowadays I’m terrified. We started flying again in 2020 and it’s everything in me not to panic. 2 years ago I cried, and I’m 43! We usually fly out of Louisville but in September we are going out of Indy to Seattle for a 15 day cruise to Hawaii. Just typing this is giving my anxiety lol!
I keep my mind busy. I went to Dollar Tree and bought a word search & I’m glad I did since neither plane on the way there had a TV. Normally, watching a movie or TV show distracts me.

Lived in Brooklyn my whole life and never learned so much about JFK (though I’ve been there many times, hahaha)! Hope you made it to Brooklyn, cuz that’s where the best food is 😜
I hope to get there next time. 5 days wasn’t long enough- especially being first time visitors and wanting to see the basic touristy things.
Have you guys had any international food on this trip? Perhaps pierogi? There's tons of pierogi places in New York, it has a large polish population

London and New York are two completely different cities, worlds apart. The only comparison is they are bustling metropolises, but they offer a completely different experience.
Now that we have been, I can say I agree with you . However, I have heard many times over, “if you like London, you’ll love New York.”

I have to say, i did not realise New York was as flashy and neon, and with so much in your face advertising as it seems to be. Probably just the main centre looks like that. Will be interesting to see the sights and attractions outside the centre 🙂

Really looking forward to seeing your vacation in New York. I’m visiting in September for the first time and staying at the Paramount Hotel which I believe is the next street down from the Edison Hotel.
We had a great time. I think September would be a nice time to visit!
I stayed at the Paramount Hotel on my senior class trip in 1965. I wonder if it is the same Paramount Hotel. I have been there many times and have never stayed in the same place twice. Love the city!

We were just in Nashville and the crowds were nuts. At least in NYC the sidewalks are wide and you can get some room to breathe. I’m so excited that you were able to take this trip!

I don't like the city and I'm only 5 minutes away. I'm right over the GWB. Maybe it's because I would go there every weekend and nor I just want a more quiet lifestyle. lol
I think lots of people like the things they never had. I was never part of a big city, so it's exciting to me. I can understand wanting peace if I grew up with all that honking.
@@TamiDunn yup! It's like that in NJ with the honking too. That part cracked me up when you talked about it. I was like "yup!". Probably because a ton of people from the city are moving to NJ. I do have to admit that NYC is special and extremely diverse, like you said. My family moved to Ohio about 30 years ago, when I was 18, so my sister enjoys going to the city when she comes out here. When they moved, she was too young to visit it on her own. I'm happy you guys had a great time!

I felt totally safe. I don't watch the news at all, so I'm blissfully happy and unaware of any attacks. Also, I have learned firsthand from relatives that watching the news and listening to all that bad stuff can make you afraid to leave your home.
If you take the subway, don't sit in the corner seats. That's where the homeless go to the bathroom.
We didn't take the subway while we were there :)
