Something that gets overlooked regarding the instrumental of this... When Ramesses part of the song plays the music gets significantly lower *and* heavier... as if though it's trying to convey the weight of not only his actions but the weight of what he's having to deal with! And furthermore, the tempo around this section slows compared to the rest of the song- it *symbolizes* how Ramesses is slow to come to terms with the circumstances that God has given him. But at the same time he's not portrayed as a stereotypical "incompetent buffoon" type villain. He can't really even be considered a villain- just an antagonist to Moses. He genuinely does care about the people of Egypt and it's shown- even when he's suffering from boils, which are said to be EXTREMELY painful, instead of sitting on his throne all day and relaxing, he fights on he ACTIVELY pushes his soldiers and guards to keep moving on. He's incompetent not because he's simply an idiot but because he *has* supernatural forces at play here. How is he going to defy the word of God? This movie... it portrays a question and an answer to that question. The question being "What if you defy God"? and the answer being "nothing". You can't stop boils before modern medicine. You can't stop the clouds fogging up. You can't stop the swarm of locusts. You can't stop any of them. A mortal man left to fend himself against the devices of God simply cannot do anything... especially in the period which this is set in.
He Is Truely The Best And Most Well Written Villain In Any Movie which I Don't Think He Actually Is A Villain But Yeah So Many Layers To This Character 🤌🏻❤

I send my scourge, I send my sword Let my people go Thus saith the Lord Thus saith the Lord You who I called brother How could you have come to hate me so? Is this what you wanted? Hans Zimmer Isolated Score The Plagues (Instrumental Version)
Thus saith the Lord, thus saith the Lord
Thus saith the Lord, thus saith the Lord
Thus saith the Lord, thus saith the Lord
Thus saith the Lord, thus saith the Lord
Since you refuse to free my people
All through the land of Egypt
I send a pestilence and plague
Into your house, into your bed
Into your streams, into your streets
Into your drink, into your bread
Upon your cattle, on your sheep
Upon your oxen in your field
Into your dreams, into your sleep
Until you break, until you yield
I send the swarm, I send the horde
Thus saith the Lord
Once I called you brother
Once I thought the chance
To make you laugh
Was all I ever wanted
I send the thunder from the sky
I send the fire raining down
And even now I wish that God
Had chose another
Serving as your foe on his behalf
Is the last thing that I wanted
I send a hail of burning ice
On every field, on every town
This was my home
All this pain and devastation
How it tortures me inside
All the innocent who suffer
From your stubbornness and pride
I send the locusts on a wind
Such as the world has never seen
On every leaf, on every stalk
Until there's nothing left of green
I send my scourge, I send my sword
Thus saith the Lord
You who I called brother
Why must you call down another blow?
I send my scourge, I send my sword
Let my people go
Thus saith the Lord
Thus saith the Lord
You who I called brother
How could you have come to hate me so?
Is this what you wanted?
I send the swarm, I send the horde
Then let my heart be hardened
And never mind how high the cost may grow
This will still be so
I will never let your people go
Thus saith the Lord
Thus saith the Lord
I will not
Let your (my) people go
Brilliant!
Ces souffrances me font souffrir
Laisse mon peuple partir
Dit le Seigneur
Dit le Seigneur
ALLEZ VOUS EN!!
Toi que j'appelais mon frére
Comment peux tu autant me haïr ?
Laisse
Ton peuple
mon peuple
partir !
