The message of this haka is of challenge, struggle, perseverance and achievement it was composed by Waimarama Puhara a highly respected chief of the kahungunu region Hawks Bay New Zealand. It was made for his son Moana as he went from childhood to Adulthood The way they do the haka is very Different from the way it is done here in New Zealand. It is not a war chant its more words of encouragement towards young males making the transition.
Is this a war dance or chant? I really believe is a chant cuz it's talking about male going through changes in life into adulthood.., the chant doesn't really say anything about going to war or any battles... It is a good chant... All Good
The only thing that kinda pisses me off about this is the slit the throat action in the beginning. If the people who taught them this Haka didn't have the decency to explain what they were saying then the Haka looses all its meaning and is just there for a show and to get the crowd going.
@superbill3001 yeahh true&ohh cool,&ohh i see,and ALSO sooo true again. well its there graduation and there doing it for the last time,maybe thats why there's alot of slit throat in this.& like i said maori's migrated to hawaii,remeber that...cause new zealand and hawaii both have a similar word called "Mana". so you never know i could be Maori without not knowing that i am.
@superbill3001 heyy,no this one they wrote there self all the way back to 2000 sumtin,but this one is writen. these guys went through so much..they had to forfit there championship game cause one player was not able to play cause of repating school,they had to deal with there court problem about the game with the league thingy,then they had to deal with the suicde of one of there football players.so maybe there doing alot of sliting there throat for what all they been through.haha just saying :)
